k.d. lang is a Canadian treasure... she is widely known as a singers singer and has won 4 grammys. Tony Bennett which she did several duets with called her the best singer in the world. Her album Ingenue is one of the best ever according to Rolling Stone and several other publications. She started out as a honky tonk country singer who worshipped Patsy Cline but with her extremely powerful voice soon mainstream took notice. After her first appearance on the Tonight Show she quickly became one of Johnny Carson's favorites and he had her perform regularly. If you want to hear her range and control..her performance of Hallelujah at the opening ceremonies in Vancouver 2010 Olympics is iconic. I have seen her live many times and she is better live than on record. My favorite song of hers is Barefoot which is hauntingly beautiful. She had a #1 hit with Constant Craving. She is an amazing song writer and unmatched vocalist. Glad you got introduced to her.

Constant Craving was on her Ingenue album. My parents came to visit me while k.d. was in town for that tour. I had to run down to the Opera House to get 2 more tickets. Third row, center! My dad left in love, my mom walked out enthralled. They both told me they never thought I had the best taste in music (back to my Janis Joplin days). It was a night we talked about often before they died.

I saw K.D. At Walden’s lounge in Edmonton when she was in the very beginning of her career! She was wearing a dress and cowboy boots! Hair in pigtails. I love how controversial she is. She is from Southern Alberta, Canada. She’s a vegetarian that used to piss off the ranching community in Southern Alberta, when she would denounce meat. 😂😂😂 Her voice goes straight to my soul. Love K.D.❤❤👏👏👏💫💫🥮🥰🇨🇦🇨🇦

Had the opportunity to see her live in Providence, RI several years ago. After a remarkable show featuring a selection of her own tunes, “ Cryin’ “ came along. What occurred next was, in my opinion, the performance of a lifetime. Not only were the background singers and band first rate, KD Lang’s voice was sublime. During the song her tone started like a smooth fine wine and as the song progressed her voice grew until as the song approached its’ climax, looking around the audience there honestly was not a dry eye in the house along with many couples in warm embrace and weeping. Truly an incredible experience and surely one not to be missed. One of the most remarkable singers of our time.

I am so happy that Kd Lang is being [rediscovered]? by as many people as possible. I am writing this from Calgary Alberta Canada. at 12:30 am after a Beethoven concert. I first saw KD in Vancouver in a tiny, and I mean tiny bar in Vancouver called the Railway car in 1978. We all knew she was destined for stardom. I have been listening for 48 years now. The reason she is great [and this is from an interview with her] is very simple. She LOOOOVES to sing and you can't fake that. Chills every time. She is from a small Alberta town and has not forgotten her roots.that's part of who she is but she really belongs to the world, generation after generation. You must listen to her live performance of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah at the Canadian Juno awards in 2005 [still on line.] honouring his lifetime achievements. . He was in the front row and she sang directly to him and once again brought the house down. So this is the long of it to let you who she is and where she comes from. Great to see your reaction if a little sceptical at first. Thank you for that version of crying. Take good care now PS used to live in NYC
