This was a live appearance on the Andy Williams Show. No tricks, no redos, no second chances, no autotune, no nothing, but his talent. This is one of the all time best live performances ever. Also, I believe Bobby Hatfield's mother was in the audience and smiled at the end because he absolutely nailed it in front of her. True greatness.

This is, almost totally unarguably, the finest live vocal performance ever. Bobby's total control over his voice is astonishing and he utilises nearly every note in 4 octave range. I don't believe there's a singer alive who can do this without studio fakery. Even more so, this live version is even superior to the studio recording of this amazing song. Seeing him bite his lip at the end, he knows he's nailed this, with his mum in the audience who hadn't seen him perform live since Bobby and his singing partner Bill Medley began enjoying hit records. As for further exploration into the 1960s, absolutely yes. No decade has been more diverse, accepting, nor more creative than the 60s. It's a deep well of some of the greatest music ever done.

One of, yes, for the time, certainly, but have you heard Dimash*, Angelina Jordan or Diana Ankudinova, or any of the other 'modern' outstanding singers. Morgan James and Haley Reinhart have some outstanding performances on Postmodern Jukebox - "Dream On", "Creep" and "Seven Nation Army" being a selection. There are astounding singers, and performers, from different countries, and in different genres, that we will never hear of, to our loss. *For example, kzbin.info/www/bejne/jWqpnXeDeNRrgrc - for Dimash. His recorded range is just shy of 7 octaves, and he hints that there's more.

This song has been sung by hundreds of people but none sings it better than Bobby Hatfield. The studio version featured in the film 'Ghost' was great but this live version is stupendous. He had a cold, his mother was in the audience listening to him sing professionally for the first time and he suffered with stage fright. At the end when he hits the high note he does not contrort his face like other singers do when hitting a high note. He just bites his lip and smiles as if to say 'I nailed it'.

I'll always have a place in my heart for the Righteous Brothers. I used their song "Soul and Inspiration" to break out of the friend zone with my sister's best friend. It was the early 80's, and with the help of some friends, I got her to the middle of the roller skating rink. From there I sang "Soul and Inspiration" to her, it way the scariest but one of the best times of my life. Sadly, she passed in 2014 from cancer, but with very few regrets. We knew love that is extremely rare these days.

This young lady is probably the best love song ever and with a singer who has a pure honest voice, no machines to make it sound good he sing's from the heart. Bobby Hatfield is who that is.His story is tragic but he left us with a song that has touched the hearts of billions and stood the test of time. His counterpart is Bill Medley that formed the group the Righteous Brothers. Loved your reaction. Here's a kind of request, watch the movie Ghost with Patrick Swayze and you'll get to the scene that plays this song and it will have you in tears.

It's really bittersweet that Bobby chose his music over the professional baseball career he could have had. Had he chosen baseball, he might still be with us, but then we would not have his hauntingly beautiful music to listen to. Bobby truly did have the voice of an angel, mesmerizing, addictive, and just a pure joy to listen to. I could not chose a favorite from all his solos as they are all amazing. He will always be my favorite male singer and the owner of this song. There really never will be another Bobby! If you want to hear more of Bobby, listen to I Love You (For Sentimental Reasons) or Only You, or Stay With Me, or My Prayer, or Crying in the Chapel, or For Your Love, or Ebb Tide...just to name a few!

Im a sixty six year old guy and I never get tired of hearing this beautiful song by Bobby Hatfield. I love seeing younger people discovering these classics. Its to bad the video which is excellent pans back right at the epic moment Bobby hits that incredible crescendo at the high point in the song! Sometimes I hear people who are reacting to the song wonder how they could stay still and be silent during such an incredible performance. I think because they were recording this performance the audience was instructed to remain quiet. I wish I could teleport back in time and be able to sit there in the front row and be blown away by the most epic vocal performer’s performing one of the greatest love songs ever. To put the song into context it was written for a prison movie in 1958. That would explain the lyrics of the song. Timeless I only wish Bobby Hatfield was still with us so he could see how people of this generation love and appreciate his incredible talent and the beautiful music he and Bill Medley gave us!

Adorei ❤ ! Ebb Tide, You’ll never walk alone, a dolorosa Stay with me … todas com o carimbo único e inigualável. Em contraste ouve as loucas interpretações B&R do Summertime de Bobby e I wanna make love to you e vibra com os Blue eyed soul de uma época bem conturbada onde quem os ouvia pensavam serem negros. I just bumped into you for the first time yesterday, Aileen, though I spend an hour or two every night watching contemporary folks react to the music to which I grew up. And contrary to your supposition, you were making perfect sense in sharing how this music touched you. I'm happy to be among your newest subscribers. Keep up the good work. ❤ ✌️

Back in the day, this is what we called "Blue-Eyed Soul". The Righteous Brothers were the best of the best. You should also listen to Dusty Springfiend. By the way, you are absolutely enchanting. I'm 72 years old and I know what I'm talking about! Please keep up the good work! Be Well and Prosper!

Bobby died at age 63 in 2003 in a Hotel in Kalamazoo MI, while touring with Bill Medley, the other Righteous Brother. He never made it to the stage. It was only 50 minutes from my house and i almost bought tickets to tat show. I heard the news on the car radio the next morning, and balled my head off.....I grew up with all this music including them, and I was a music teacher. this was Bobby's shining moment in front of his mom in the audience. Aileen, you have a wonderful smile...

Great reaction. Just to let you know, you made a lot of sense, and what you said was spot on. There are 2 Righteous Brothers who are the duo, and they both have fantastic voices. Their voices are distinctly different, but they blend together like a hand in a well fitting glove. If you do another reaction, I would recommend doing one where they are singing together. I think their best and most successful song was You've Lost That Loving Feeling.
