I'm pretty convinced at this point that C-137, the Rick that the TV series follows, is different from the other Ricks of the multiverse and that's a big part of what gives him an edge against them. He's fundamentally familiar with how other Ricks think, but doesn't quite think like them nor is he motivated by the same things. He's still "A different kind of Rick", and can use that to his advantage in that he can predict what they would do but they can't predict what he will do. As such, a lot of the traps around his house are likely very different from the ones in most universes, and he probably takes care of re-renovating after every time he has to jump universes.

Honestly, i thought that the time travel stuff was in a box because Rick didn't want to have to deal with all the paradoxes and Time Cops that came with Time Travel. But now i can't help but think of what would happen to the Xepthurians if it actually *was* a box full of time travel stuff and not a trap. I always thought a drab box labeled time travel stuff was there simply due to Ricks distaste for time travel as an adventure and as a sci fi device. Like he'd been there done that and didn't care for it.

I also think the Xepthorians represent our world as it is, with all our problems and some just wish to turn back time, to do it better then. But you cannot change what’s been done, and I just love how that also represents Ricks perception of time in general. That wasnt time travel. Rick escaped Morty's reality where Earth ended and traveled to a reality where Rick was both lucky enough to save the Earth and about to die. Rick didn't time travel, he just entered a different universe.

What if Doc Brown was actually a Rick Sanchez in hiding from the Citadel? I mean I understood the time travel joke because this show was literally an inspired by Back to the Future and all. But it can still make sense. Probably why he doesn't use a portal gun and made a time machine instead. Also I know Back to the Future was made in the 80s. I grew up on it since the 90s. I'm just saying in the show, it could be canon.

It's Rick Sanchez dude. Guy probably has nukes in his teeth. It's shown that Rick is easily and quickly able to make and handle bombs when he drunkenly creates a neutrino bomb in the episode where he and morty "team up" with the Vindicators. Morty even states that he has "disarmed too many neutrino bombs", after Rick asks how many times he's had to. This further shows that, because of Rick's constant bomb handling and making, even someone as stupid as Morty (Portrayed as the dumbest human on Earth) is now capable of disarming them

Not sure if the comics and the show are the same universe but I think the time travel that Rick hates could be done. He has the portal gun. He can get death crystals. If he were to combine the powers, he could do time travel. All he needs to do is make it work

Death crystals tell you how you die. You're thinking of time crystals. I wouldn't think Rick would use them after the events of S2 E1.

The comics and the show ARE the same universe. Not at first (they follow Rick and Morty C-132 up until issue 14) but by this issue the comics had long since switched to following Rick and Morty C-137.

Although many comics take stuff far removed from reality and especially at times Rick and Morty can be a far stretch of even imagination, Gravity does play a role in the affects on time. So while Rick himself may not like to use time travel in the Theoretical sense he does travel through time in a different and literal sense.

@@scottdownard143 Yes. Which I think at certain times is probably functionally time travel. Think about how time was frozen for 6 or so months yet our Rick and Morty don't appear to be 6 months ahead of everybody. Naturally an infinite amount of Rick's froze time and an infinite amount did not. There must be time travel in some of these teleportations. Also in the Season 5 finale when we learn that not all Morty's a formed naturally, they go into other timelines and manually make a Jerry and Beth fall in love. I think that implies that not every universe in the central finite curve moves at the same 1 to 1 concurrent rate. I think that a lot of the times when you think multiverse or time travel through for long enough they almost go hand in hand.

@@rachelparker335 In the season 2 EP 1 when they unfroze time they had actually not travelled through time at all. time, and therefore gravity and other forces would be suspended. They are teleporting (closest analogy). As far multidimensionality is concerned, it depends on their take of each universe. To me, it looks like stacking universes on top of each other, which means that no universe actually ends and births a new universe, no time travel. It looks 1-1, but every person that pops into a universe actually adds mass, which accelerates time (Check interstellar movie for better interpretation.

You are wrong about the Rick from the comics being different from the one in the show. The comics start out following Rick and Morty C-132, but by issue 14 it switches to following C-137. So not only is this material canon, it is C-137 canon.

Yeah I'm sorry to say but that's just bs. the box was always referenced as some stuff that technically exists in the universe of rick and morty but the creators of the show just dont want to deal with the paradoxes of time travel plot, and they specifically say it in interviews, and also rick basically breaks the forth wall and says it in the the season 4 snake episode. the fake box in the comics is just not the same cannon as the show on the 'time travel stuff' box.

Rick tried using time travel after his wife was killed to ambush Rick prime when he entered his universe. But the contents of time travel is unique to its own dimension. Because rick prime was from another dimension, going back in time to the moment he came didnt work, because he wasn’t affected by the time travel so he wasn’t there. This aggravated rick, contributing to his chronic case of alcoholism.
