I had a Ninja ZX1000R and a friend of mine let me ride his Honda CR250 2 stroke one time. I thought to myself "This is nothing". I opened it up without even holding in the clutch and took off like a bat out of hell fish tailing as I almost lost it. When I came to a settle my friend told me the only reason I didn't wipe was because I held my feet firmly to the pegs. That thing was a beast. Too bad they're so high in maintenance. Later.
@backyardboosters91287 жыл бұрын
Ibcn Things the 250's really aren't that much maintenance especially if you're more into trails and what not. MX races will definitely shorten service intervals quite a bit, but an enduro 200-300cc 2 stroke only needs a topend every 80-150 hours, very comparable to 4 stroke bikes and way cheaper/easier to do.
@ib23857 жыл бұрын

The reason a 250 2T is a beast is because the engine makes over 50 horsepower and they are very lightweight compared to heavy supersport bike. Ofc a ninja will have more top speed because more cc and very much better aerodynamic

@GladiusJon7 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! Im guessing because the Engine isnt getting the oil its supposed to?
@torjusbirkeland20487 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's the reason. The cylinder only gets lubrication when there is fule going trough. So when shift down and let off the throttle the rpm goes ut and no oil is lubricating the engine. Takes some getting used to when you come from a 4 stroke where you can enginebrake as much as you want :)
@MRBIGCOHONEZ7 жыл бұрын
Gladius Jon well if the engine is on. is obviously getting gas and oil, right?
@GladiusJon7 жыл бұрын
I did some research into it, apparently a huge controversy. Yes, when the engine is on it gets oil and fuel. But the Problem occurs at high rpm. When you are closed throttle you have very little gas/oil making its way into the crank case. Arguable not enough to keep the Internals Properly lubed. I do not know enough about it to say for sure, one way or the other.

And definitely starting slllllow and careful of the clutch, whiskey throttle situations... Any advice for my big ass? 2 strokes are good fun, but it just depends how much money ya wanna spend on riding, i know my mates spend twice as much as me when we go out for a ride on fuel and oil, wherei spend $8 in gas on my DRZ 400, they spend $25 in gas and then another $10 in oil.. im all about the cheap and easy riding..lol, make sure you dont flip those 2 smokers thou.. lol,

yeah they get away with cheaper fuel but not on the high cost of valve/chain and cam gear when it comes to rebuilding time. No matter which you go for it all adds up the same eventually.

Honestly how do these compare to 450, just curious cause I’m trading my husky 250f to a yz250 and I really don’t want the power of a 450
