We went out to 131 Motorsports Park with the 69 ZL1 to try a new first gear ratio with our fresh engine. Traction was a major issue, we need to do some more homework on getting this thing down the track, but we still clicked off a 9.69 144 which is our best mph ever!

Holy cow man hate to see that. Sure hope he’s alright. How does it feel doing 160 on bias ply? Have or can you do tire or brake upgrades? I guess you gotta run the bias ply for the FAST series. Do you think the car could do a 8.99? The car is already ridiculous, 8’s would be just insane.
@HorsepowerDepot
@HorsepowerDepot 2 жыл бұрын
It’s got wilwood brakes up front and drums in the back. The car stops very well actually. But it’s getting a better brake upgrade, I have them just waiting on the new rear end to get here. Honestly felt good going that fast especially on the rough shut down road lol. I’d like to think the car could go 8.99 at some point. I believe a corvette will get it done first, but an 8.99 is one of a few goals I have for the car.

Just stumbled on your you tube watching on my home tv . Really awesome what you all are doing , thank you for all the info as well. As a former street and track racer in St Petersburg Florida back in the 80’s and very early 90’s when I got out of it race secrets came only with a ton of testing and dynos definitely weren’t in our budget back then. Did pretty well with my last car an original disc brake 69 Z28 that was without its original 302 4spd. But being an employee at a machine shop for quite a few years and lucky to have the keys to it and permission to work on my stuff after work and very early morning hours was able to build a for back then pretty quick 30 over 350 ( 355 C.I.D. ) 10 & 1/2 to 1 flat top motor with 300 Horse capable fogger nitrous system with 200 horse pills in it . The double hump steel heads 461 casting ran a best of 10:32 @ 138 mph. With 3” crossover exhaust and flow master mufflers .Pretty fast car for back in those days. You all sure do look like your having a lot of fun and doing it with your family and friends makes it even better. I subscribed to your channel and will watch a bunch more. Thank you for taking the time to share what you all are doing. Really enjoy watching.

The wipers are probably being pushed off of the park contact by the wind and the park circuit activates the motor to bring it around. When you turn off the wipers a part of the motor assembly still has positive power as long as the car is on so that the motor doesn't just stop in place and actually keeps running back to a home or parked position before stopping. Alternatively since they sit high on the glass, it may be that they just get the motor spinning so fast as the go up the windshield that the motor gets up momentum and keeps going. You could short the motor onto itself to create a resistance to it spinning and then the wipers may eventually just point straight up till you push them to the parked position.

My 69 did the same thing only at Qtr mile tracks don’t remember doing it at the 1/8 mile track we also ran at. It’s been 30 years but think we found the metal ground strap from motor body to frame was missing or bad connections can’t remember but the “Park” arm not having a ground to lock it on wasn’t extending to grab the motor crank and at high MPH the wiper arms would move and continue to run my guess was generating its own electricity by the movement of the motor when wipers were pushed into moving from the MPH. It’s been a long time but thinking that was the problem.
