@@user-bl7em8sx6o Yeah you have to enjoy both aspects cause there's a different atmosphere to it without the radio. It feels super lonely and pretty trippy. Almost like Silent Hill or something.

In regards to the Radio, I would suggest turning it on briefly just to catch the DJ "Three Dog" talking and then turning it off when the music comes on. I love the music soundtrack of FO3 and highly recommend that you listen to it off screen on your own time. But its best listened to during game play. It certainly helps to have it on during those long lonely walks across the Wasteland. But YT has its Copyright cops.

On why you don't want to watch the fallout tv show, I think you are along the same lines as me: I'm just so tired of being unimpressed. Now that the hype levels are high currently, it just sets it up for failure it can feel like. I have my niche of shows and I know I'll enjoy them, so I usually just don't want to potentially waste my time.

if you enjoy F3 I would highly recommend you check out Fallout 4 eventually. It definitely has the weakest writing of the 3 games but it's still worth checking out if you're a fan of the series. Potentially worthy of a curated mod list on your first playthrough because frankly the vanilla game needs a lot of QOL tweaks to really get the most enjoyment.

i personally would recommend fallout 2 and 1 over fallout 4. Bethesda went downhill after fallout 3 imo. new vegas was great but it came from obsidian and everything Bethesda did after that was surprisingly weak imo. (not saying Fallout 4 is terrible but it is a shadow of what it could/should have been)

The Fallout TV show exceeded all expectations from gamer fans and non-fans alike, especially since it was not simply an adaption of a particular video game like TLOU was but is an entirely brand new story that takes place after all the various game time lines. The makers of the Westworld series did an amazing job bringing Fallout to life on screen, as did all the actors involved.

maybe it is nostalgia because it was my first fallout game but i am one of the few that actually like fallout 3 more than new vegas. vegas has better weapon play and the whole different factions thing is done much better there. But i am not a big Fan like the texas/cowboy vibe going on there (especially on the radio) the worldbuilding in Fallout 3 is just better and i love the greenish touch and more grey Land fallout 3 has. also fallout 3 has more memorable places and insane quests and it doesnt hold back at all in dialogue because nobody cared back then... you can say such evil and sexist and racist stuff in fallout 3 it is hard not to love it. also new vegas doesnt have a dunwich building, no megaton, no tenpenny tower... there is no arefu, no andale, there is no tranquility lane in new vegas, no point lookout, no vault 108, no Evergreen Mills, no little lamplight, no Oasis, no threedog (and who likes mr new vegas?) and are there even Behemoths in New vegas? i dont remember. and how awesome is the intro in vault 101?... all the insane stuff stuff i love to remember comes from fallout 3. I see why some people prefer new vegas but i hope (and i think) you enjoy this one aswell

There is not a single thing which F3 does better. FNV is basically an upgrade in every aspect - better RPG, better writing, more interesting lore, more quests. Well, that's the opinion of 99% of people who played first two games anyway

Hope you aren't expecting to be blown away by this game nearly as much as you were by the masterpiece that is FNV. F3 is a very shallow game in comparison. Yeah, it's somewhat fun for the first playthrough but it has much less replay value than New Vegas does. The role-playing aspects pale in comparison to those from FNV. There is no faction system either. It just uses the simplistic binary good vs. evil karma system which is lame compared to the much more interesting faction system from FNV.
