First time playing Smash Bros in 24 years!

My first time playing a Smash Bros game since 1999!!! I decided to start by playing the World of Light Spirits mode. Let me know if you would like to see this experience continue in further videos. Hope you enjoy!

You've got tilt attacks, dash attack, air attacks, Smash attaks, grab (and throws), jab and special attacks. Tilt attacks I would put on your right stick so they are easier to use. Use that second stick by choosing a direction, there is an up-tilt, down-tilt and forward-tilt. Dash attack is pressing A while running. Air attacks are used by pressing A in the air while also pressing a direction (or no direction) with your left stick. There is up-air, down-air, forward-air, back-air and neutral-air(no direction=neutral). Smash attack are used by holding A while simultaenously holding a direction with your left stick, releasing A will perform the attack, the longer you hold the stronger the attack. They will take on an other pose and visually charge. There is up-smash, down-smash, and forward-smash. Grab is ZL or ZR and after grabbing push the left stick one way to throw them. Back/forward/up/down-throw exist. Jab is pressing or holding A while standing still. Special moves can be used by pressing B and a direction with the left stick. Down-B, up-B, side-B and neutral-B. Pressing X or Y will make you jump. Character have 1 ground jump and 1 mid-air jump. Characters with wings have 2 mid-air jumps instead of 1. Kirby, Meta Knight, King DeDeDe, Pit and Dark Pit have 5 or 6 mid-air jumps instead of 1 or 2. Up-B is for most character also a way to get back to the stage and recover. I would disable stick-jump because you can accidently lose your jumps by pressing up on left stick. All characters have all these things and all have unique moves for every one of them. Some also have theur own unique mechanic that they alone have, which I will tell you if you ever play other characters. Kirby his unique thing is that by using neutral-B he can suck somebody up and if you press your left stick downwards you get the other character's neutral-B attack which you can then use by pressing neutral-B. (I typed this all on my phone so I hope it's not a mess.) Cape can reflect projectiles as well as turn the opponent the other way.

Mario's cape turns things around - you actually used it very effectively by accident during the giant R.O.B. fight by turning him around just before he attacked multiple times. It also works on projectiles, as far as I rememeber (haven't played Smash since before the pandemic, so don't take my word for it). That song near the end was from Sonic Heroes - the track is titled Sonic Heroes, too. It's catchy, and the only thing I remember from that game besides Knuckles saying "Shit! Rock! Ugh!" (or that's what it sounded like to twelve year-old me, anyway) during his punch combo.

Woo, welcome back to Smash, and to one of the games dominating my life alongside FFXIV. I'm not a World of Light player myself as I only play standard 1v1 or 2v2 matches, but I'm definitely going to be watching you try it out! Edit: Pro Controller works great. I'm using a GuliKit KingKong myself which has the same layout with a slightly different feel. Some players do prefer a GameCube controller, but that's a taste thing.

Just a big word of advice, since you are playing Xenoblade right now be wary that there are some fairly severe spoilers regarding the games story within spirits/word of light as well as a pretty major one in Shulk’s final smash.

world of light is a good place to start but eventually a lot of the battles rely on gimmicks or stats to win, another good place to practice is every character has their own classic mode where you just do straight up fights and you can choose your difficulty

World of Light is a good way to unlock characters and other things, and you can sink plenty of time into exploring! but it won't get much deeper than what you've played so far, the core of the experience is the different kinds of fight gimmicks and conditions for each Spirit (there are a few special bosses too). In the "Games & More" section there's also Classic mode, where you do 6 or so battles back to back arcade-game-style, and each character has their own themed route. for example Mario fights some Mario villains in his route, and Kirby's route has battles against characters who love eating. You unlock a new character every time you beat Classic, and you also unlock a new character every few VS matches you play against the CPU. So whichever method sounds most fun to experience what the game has to offer is the one for you! EDIT: by the way, the spiky Primary Spirit you don't remember getting is probably one the game gives you to start with so you can start trying out Support Spirits. Some tips: Primary Spirits on the left slot are the ones you can level up, and that change whether you're Attack/Defense/Grab/Neutral. Different Primary Spirits have different amounts of slots for Support Spirits. There's two main kinds of attack: Regular attacks (A) are the basic combat stuff like punches and kicks and Special attacks (B) are much more unique for each character. Each has a neutral, up, down and side variant. Up Special (Up+B) is usually a recovery move you can use as well as your jump. If you hit a direction + regular attack at the same time, you'll do a "Smash Attack", which is generally the most powerful attack for KOing.

Wooo I love smash and would totally be up for battling against you and other people in the discord :) World of light is really fun but if you’d prefer getting the characters at a faster rate I suggest classic mode. There isn’t really any story to classic mode though.

The song from the Metal Sonic battle was Sonic Heroes from the game Sonic Heroes on the PS2. One of my fave Sonic songs in Smash is City Escape from Sonic Adventure 2

Regarding that opening cutscene, I should point out that the guy in charge of the Smash series, Masahiro Sakurai, is also the creator of the Kirby series. A bit of favoritism shows through here (and also in some character trailers, particularly Kazuya's.)

Great to see this kinda content! I recommended you play pokemon a while back, and I don't know if I said this, but be careful which one you play (if you play one at all), because a lot of them are either bad or confusing. Scarlet/Violet are good, but it's kinda confusing if you're not using a guide since there's no level scaling, but it's really good for newcomers so I think that one would be good.

Isn't it the buggiest Pokemon game on Switch? I know the game has cool ideas but the performance is really bad. Pretty much all the mainline Pokemon games on Switch have issues. The only exception may be Pokemon Let's go Pikachu/Evee which is a remake of the Gen 1 game.
