Awesome decision to get the plow! I wonder if a pitchfork after you plow, would be good to get up the grass roots, it might be easier to lift up the roots. I learned something new from you! I I knew green brier root was used in making root beer along with sassafras and birch root, but I didn't know it was edible! That to me as a wild food forager is great to know, we have so much of that growing here that I will harvest some and give it a try. :) I think you have made good choices with what was chosen to plant. I love spring pea pods myself and carrots, radish and turnips ahh so many veggies I love! I wish I had the land to do varieties of summer squash, I love the green and yellow types. oh and the butternut as well. I am so happy for you, I remember my first time plowing a field, awesome experience indeed! Will you have a herb garden as well?

This video reminds me of when I was 10 years old and my dad and mom would start early in the morning working up land, and then we would go out and help them plant a garden. Back then, I would moan and groan about it, but thinking back to those days, bring back some good memories. I hope your garden thrives and you have plenty to eat and give to friends.

As I what you do your land and I look and I see all the beautiful grass and greenery around no cement like out here in New York City no disgusting ground that's covered in all that tar and cement and dirt and filth I could think of how beautiful your ground smells after rain and like you said as you work the ground It's just so beautiful I would give every and anything I have to be out there we use on and not here in New York City where it's just horrible You are truly a blessed man Robert The Lord put you in a beautiful place and that's why as you working in and you make it so much more beautiful when you carry on a traditional farming that is what made America great and now it's being totally destroyed and our land sold to China You're one of the last bastions you and Aaron and his family and all those great Americans that are still working their land to make it better May God bless all of you as you try to keep America great ♾️🛐✝️🙏❤️

I think you need to regrade the land and dig a trench for the water from the neighbor's property and guide it towards the road and away from you. Then you won't have a swamp in your back yard.

The smile on your face when started plowing was priceless. I'm happy for you good buddy. Your soil looks amazing. Love the smell of freshly plowed dirt. The more you mend the soil, the garden will be better the next year. Rutger tomatoes are a good heirloom breed. You going to have so many fresh veggies this year. This fall when the garden is finished, take some chicken droppings and put in your garden and plow it in deep. I'm excited for you. Your country boy roots are coming to the surface😊.

Hey there Scott & Ms. Vicki👋🏼 I belted out in laughter when u told Ms. Vicki "Not unless u instruct me to care"! Man that soil is gorgeous!! Ms. Vicki is very well versed in gardening. Love listening to her. I just call 'em maters & taters😉That antique plow can be welded. I think that happens often with farm equipment. But it would be cool to see it kinda displayed somewhere in front around ur garden .. make a diy fountain beside it & some flowers. Oh wait .. where ur vintage wagon? Display the plow with that. Anyway just a few thoughts. Hey I'd throw those grass clumps over into the soggy area. Some of it may take root. Definitely wouldn't let that grass die. U have too many places to put grass. U prob already thought of that. Btw: your face was priceless when u plowed with the spring plow. Couldn't smell the dirt but I felt ur excitement. It's awesome to see such happiness in farming that land again. Cuddos to you Robbie. I'm happy for you. Great job here & thnx for the happiness & smiles. Y'all b safe & well. Blessings🙏🏼☮️😊 PS: Let us know how those prickly taters turn out🥔🥔

Robert so great to see the Old Byrd Farm getting plowed for the first time in a VERY long time, and by no one better suited for it than you! Bringing the ole girl back to life and making the ground finally working for you, instead of being a brereding bed for nothing but privet and Westerisa!! Your gonna love the beans when you come up. Planted my Garlic and Onions here in Upper Northeastern Illinois a few days ago, and getting 2 yards of garden soil delivered on tuesday, to fill my hydro culture raised beds, { like what Aaron showed on several of his videos ] and then more planting:-) It is great seeing you actually plowing and using the land, and there be NO chemicals on the property. the food tastes better as well.
