AMAZING! Glad you're moving towards block printing. It looks so great. Couple of thoughts. Take it or leave it, my man. - Distribution of ink onto your tin/glass doesn't have to be limited to the size of your brayer. If you've got too much ink on your surface, pushing it around in the same small space is just moving it around and won't give you that velvety sound that indicates the right tackiness and even distribution onto your brayer. So I've found that once I've moved from the width of the brayer, I can start moving outwards to make sure the ink to surface area ratio is even. Too much ink on the brayer will flood your carve and if you've got tiny details, it will get lost because the ink has covered too much of the block. - I know you're using the brayer you found was your wife's and it's what you've got. For future prints, using a brayer slightly bigger than your block will help an even distribution of ink so that you're not going over the same space too many times with the smaller surface area of the brayer. This build up of ink will make it tougher to get that clean impression. Your lines are wider so it won't affect too much. But if you find that when you have finer details if it gets lost in the impression, typically it's because of too much ink. - When you're using the baren, the consistent pressure and movement will keep the print clean as well. When it's a rubber block too much "give" when you're pushing the baren around will move the ink around on the paper. - Last thought: you are incredibly inspiring. Trying new things and sharing them with us is so great. Shows that you can be resourceful with what you've got while being super creative and excited about it makes me wanna go out and do just that. Big fan of your love of art and your spirit of creativity. Keep it up.
