RIP Amy Winehouse, gone too soon. She was known for her deep, expressive contralto vocals and her eclectic mix of musical genres, including soul, rhythm and blues, reggae and jazz.

@@stevestone1527 It was a lot of complex reasons, mainly untreated mental illness which she suffered from a young age. It was mainly the alcohol (she died from alcohol poisoning) and the drugs did its part but not as much as people make it out to be. It was only the few years she married to Blake Fielder-Civil as he has said he was the one that introduced her to hard drugs. At the hidden reason nobody talks about is bulimia which prior to the drugs was the reason why she was so skinny. Amy's doctor has speculated that was a contributing factor to her death, and Amy's brother seems to think so too.
@Imreallyboredsick4 ай бұрын
@stevestone1527 And if you're wondering, yes, the British press demolished her. The British press can be a another kind of nasty. They wouldn't leave her alone (you can find the footage of Amy punching cameras) so in the end she had to get a restraining order through the courts so they would stay away from her house and from the houses of her friends and family. It's just awful if you read what they wrote about her.

Thanks Sarah. Wonderful to see your reaction. I get chills every time I hear Amy's voice. Heartfelt, unique, and authentic. Her "Love is a Losing Game" is also a very beautiful and poignant piece; her 2007 performance of this live At SXSW is well worth a listen.

The very last true talent that could effortlessly and magnificently do vintage 60’s blues/soul. 40 years later. And nobody since. And it is a crime.

Ah hem...kd lang sang So In Love by Cole Porter on Red, Hot, and Blue. kd has a voice that is unmatched in terms of range, beauty, and control. Leonard Cohen wrote "Hallelujah" After hearing kd sing it, he said no one else should ever sing the song. How often do songwriters say such a thing? Amazing!

She's talking about her on again off again relationship with her boyfriend Blake, she and him had a love that was so strong, and when he finally ended things she just couldn't get over that. It is worth mentioning she was engaged when she died, but I think Blake was her 1st love which she never got over.

About her boyfriend who left her to go back with his girlfriend. This album was a huge hit for her, she won a grammy and became an overnight global superstar. With all the money she was making and her being so famous, he left his girlfriend and got back together with Amy. He was the worst thing to ever have happened to her, he destroyed her. She may have still been here today had she never met him.

Amy had a lot of serious mental health issues that were untreated and long-standing eating disorder that contributed to her death. Taking the addiction issues out of the equation, eating disorder can be and are deadly and would have caught up to her eventually. This is a gross oversimplification of a very complex situation with many contributing factors.

I think every girl should hear the Etta James song "I'd Rather Go Blind". Personally, I have to listen to the Monkees "The Girl I knew Somewhere" when it comes on. My surprise is to find out that all four of them played the instruments on the song and it was written by one of the Monkees, namely Mike Nesmith. Another good song is Sam Cooke's "A Change Is Gonna Come"

Black/white does not mean vintage. It's simply a production decision on how best to tell a story. The first commercial movie to use color came out in 1908, fyi.
