I can't remember exactly what she said in her interview with Chris Liepe, but it was essentially that she wears the crazy long nails when preforming because they give her confidence and make her feel like a badass lol. Totally made me think of when little girls wear the press on nails and feel sooo cool, like a grown up. Just made me love her move lol, she's super cute!

I LOVE the analogies in this song and the way Chinchilla uses them to full effect. The fact that she chose " cutting your fingers clean off " is, perhaps, much more poignant than people first realise, as the finger is synonymous with " dissing " someone through the mere pointing of it. In fact ; when someone points a finger, there are always three more pointing back towards themselves 👈, suggesting retribution will be coming their way. The line " Karma's coming back for you, and she's in the shape of me " is very strong and we all know the saying " Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned " .... the less obvious one is perhaps " Put your keys in your knuckles like I have to " which is something most women will understand as the tightening of their grip on their security. There are so many references to the fingers in the song and they all have subtle meanings. ... and yeah, Chinchilla delivers a song like no one else, she is a very rare, inspirational talent - Great reaction Britt, yeah, you " get it " completely. ! 🙏

I don't know her background, but I think it is a great metaphor. Nobody knows a domestic abuser usually better than the victim, and the abuser aims to remove that power from their target immediately. Sadly, this disempowerment through mental and physical abuse shames and even normalises the victims experiences. Here, she is recovering her power and she is removing the fingers one by one. Each time he takes takes a tactically swipe, she is learning how to disarm it. She doesn't need a knife to remove his arsenal, she is her own armoury. This 'man' is nothing without his control on her.
