A made up story though. Cleopatra hid herself in a giant bag to meet Caesar because she didn't trust her brother Ptolemy XIII, and more namely his regent the eunuch Pothinus, who provoked riots and a civil war to dethrone her since he wanted to rule all alone. It wasn't about seducing Caesar, but saving her life and securing her position as Queen of Egypt.

Carpet line: Before becoming emperor, Caesar was uniting power and the Egyptian grain line was highly important. His Roman enemies tried to bar Cleopatra from seeing Caesar, so she rolled herself up in a carpet and the the carpet gifted to Caesar. It was rolled out in front of him and there she was, ready to join their political powers. It's a dual-meaning, as rolling-up in carpet is an old mobster cliche way of disposing of bodies, as well.

You chose the most vicious ERB to start with, hats off to you! Edit: The moment Cleopatra threw down the miscarriage lines she won. - Cleopatra was Greek, not Egyptian. Her family still practiced incest, her parents were related, and she married her adolescent brother as ceremonial spouses and co-regents because she couldn't rule without a King before marrying Marc Antony. - The carpet line was about Julius Ceasar. As far I know the only child she had was with him.

Cleopatra VII had accually three children who survived her, one son by Ceasar and a son and a daughter by Marc Anthony. The only one to reach adulthood was her daughter, Cleopatra Selene. The two boys were used in a triumph in Rome, which usually ended with the murder of high ranking prisoners, although I don't know of any proof that these two boys were in fact murdered.

Totally going deep into historic accuracy (which I know this isn't really what the Epic Rap Battles are about). Cleopatra wasn't beautiful. She was actually described as rather plain by contemporary sources. However, she was wicked smart. She spoke 9 languages, was educated at the Mouseion in Alexandria (where the library was), studied geography, history, astronomy, philosophy, international diplomacy, mathematics, alchemy, medicine, zoology, and economics. She wrote works on herbs and cosmetology. Galen (an ancient physician) studied her works. She organized her country to minimize strife, war, and rebellion, and increased the output of her granaries for Rome. She was an able politician, stateswoman, and administrator. But she had power, and her enemies wanted to bring her down... so they dismissed her as 'just beautiful', and therefore a danger to Caesar and Rome.

Cleopatra was actually Macedonian-Greek, and not Egyptian. She was supposed to be wicked smart, but wasn't actually described as beautiful by her contemporaries. That was propaganda started by the Romans in an attempt to undermine and dismiss her as "just a beautiful seductress." The carpet line was a reference to her first alleged encounter with Julius Caesar, where she had herself rolled into a carpet and brought to him in order to meet. Marilyn Monroe was really intelligent as well. She only played the "dumb blonde" as that's what the public expected (if I'm remembering correctly, she wasn't a natural blonde either).

The brother banging line followed up by tossing Caesar's salad (Sure, Egyptian royalty was so unbelievably incestuous that their family tree tended to more resemble a family knotted stick.) We still can't let it slide that she had kids with both her brothers plus the more obscure references like getting rolled up in the carpet and a great flow won that for Marylin. Cleo's scorching Miss Carriage line and her seriously hot dancing kept her in it but even the Candle in the Wind line wasn't able to put her over the top. ("Candle in the Wind" is a song written by Elton John about and dedicated to Marylin Monroe after her untimely death by OD of barbiturates.)

Marilyn Monroe was actually well documented as someone who loved to read. I think the "dumb blond" stereotype is just that a stereotype. I think she was a lot more intelligent than people give her credit for. Also Cleopatra was part of the Ptolemaic Dynasty. She was not Egyptian or African....She was Greek and a descendent of Alexander the Great.
@talisredstar15437 ай бұрын
She gets queasy Because Pharoah Make up over over the top and out landish, where Marilyn's was more tasteful and accentuating. Plus fun fact because Monroe's early movies were done in black and white. And inorder for certain things to show up on film you had to use colors you would not normally see. Take the movie Psycho. The blood in that movie wasn't fake blood, it was actually chocolate syrup, because red did not show up very well on camera. So there was some really imagination going on there, when you see a woman with what you think red lipstick, and it was actually brown, or black lipstick. That had tobe distracting on set for a bit lol

used to be 'need bones broken? call a man. need souls broken? call a woman'. nowadays I think women are much too secure to train those muscles. course, woman's worst foe is woman, so presumably some have managed to keep the old arts alive, even so. spreading poison to those who know while those who don't think they're complimenting each other. I always admired that talent when I saw it displayed. the sort of thing invented and honed in a landscape where speaking clearly would invite, at best, attempts to 'cure' you.
