This is the man that Elvis would tell anyone who would listen, was "the real king of rock n roll." There is an audio recording of Elvis singing Blueberry hill where he introduces his friend, Fats and you can here the genuine love and affection between them. ❤

I’m a Baton Rouge native and around 1976 Fats played at a local nightclub called The Music Box in Gonzales, Louisiana. I was 25 at that time and I went with my Mom along with several other family members. Had a blast because the venue was not like a concert hall so Fats with his piano/band were right there on a small stage. Memorable night dancing the night away❤️⚜️

I don't remember hearing this on the radio when I was a kid, but I do remember hearing "Blueberry Hill", which came out just before it, and "I'm Walking", which came out right after it. The funny thing is, years later I heard a faster tempo acoustic guitar version by Dave Van Ronk. I learned it and added it to my setlist of songs I played in bars and clubs. It wasn't until years later that I found out Fats Domino did a cover of it until I bought a used copy of his 1957 album "This is Fats". Interestingly enough, the first recording of the song in 1953, by Smiley Lewis, uses an electric guitar as the main instrument rather than the piano. Great song. Loved your reaction !

Cool to see you reacting to old school artists like Fats Domino. “I’m walkin’” and “Ain’t That a Shame” are two more songs of his that would be cool to see you react to.. Especially “I’m walkin’.” I think you’d like the groove of that song. Lol

Saxophones can be soprano, tenor, baritone, and bass just like people! I couldn’t see that one clearly but it was a baritone or bass.

Written by Dave Bartholomew and first released by Smiley Lewis in 1954. Fats and Dave were a power-house duo in the 1950s writing so many songs. Look up Dave Bartholomew in Wikipedia for a list. One of my faves "My Girl Josephine" but I've got the Bear Family box set of all of his Imperial sides so it's difficult to choose 🤔

There needs to be a Fats Domino biopic on the big screen. Talk about a piece of history in Rock n Roll with the actors portraying musicians during that era.

Baritone Saxophone. Most common are the smaller Alto, and the somewhat larger Tenor. Kenny G., among others, played a Soprano. Completing the range, the Bass Saxophone is mounted on a stand, and the player walks up to it. Fun Fact. Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Baritone all use the same fingering.

Fats Domino was a great singer songwriter & pianist. He was one of the pioneers of rock & roll music in the 50's-60's. Elvis Presley said he was a huge influence on him when he was starting out. Some of his other hits were "Blueberry Hill", "Walking To New Orleans", "I'm Walkin'", "Valley of Tears", "Whole Lotta Lovin'", "I Want To Walk You Home", "Ain't That A Shame", "My Blue Heaven" etc.
