George Strait is the only singer that I have seen that can stand in front of an audience and sounds the same Live or on recording. He doesn't need flashing lights, doesn't need to jump around and act up, he just stands there and delivers the best show in country.

You're exactly right. He sounds just like the recording on every single song and he has the distinction of being the only concert I ever walked out on. I made it about halfway through and found myself bored. The Judds had opened for him and blew me away.

I saw him years ago. You could have put up a cardboard cutout and played the music off a cd and you wouldn't have been able to tell the difference. A huge disappointment live. Thankfully Martina McBride was at that show and blew the doors off the place.

You would of been gushing even more if you had watched the music video. I remember this song came out when I was around 10 years old. I've loved George Straight since I was a kid. I'm a southern Belle from Alabama so I grew up on obviously alot of country, Gospel and Rock in Roll. I'm a singer and musician and grew up in theater and took ballet. Performing has always been a passion of mine. I have a great appreciation for many genres of music and its always a pleasure to watch peoppe my age or younger discover these amazingly talented artists that I grew up on. Some of the best country is in the late 80s and all throughout the 90s and early 2000s. The 90s was the best because there was so many legendary country singers that were on fire during that decade. And I was able to see alot of them in concert. Including George Straight, Reba McEntire, Garth Brooks, Brooks and Dunn, Vince Gill, Alabama, Travis Tritt and other artists from other genres. Thankfully I come from a family of musicians so we were all really big about going to alot of concerts. We had alot of fun and I have those precious memories to look back on now. Your a little late to the party but I'm glad your discovering alot of these singers and their hit music now. Better late than never I always say. I love your channel and I'm enjoying this journey with you. I hope you dive into more country singers and their hit songs from the 90s. I just like country music better than. I've heard others say the same and said it sounded more country and the lyrics and ballads were so much better and sweeter. I mean there are some new artists and songs that's come out in the past 10 or 15 years but they cannot beat the legends from the 90s or even before then. And country music has changed alot and its not for the better in some cases. My husband cannot stand any country musoc at all from today. He gets super annoyed if he hears it. But put on 90s country and he's ok. Lol I'm atleast a little more open minded but I get it. Today's country is like the generic Walmart brand of 90s country. Lol

Yes, Pretty, George Strait is a legend and did indeed retire so I am guessing that that was the finale. I can also tell you that he was introduced by another legend, the voice of WSM, Country Music's flagship station from Nashville, Tennessee, Mister Eddie Stubbs, who also recently retired. It is also of note that with three days to go (birthday in three days), Mr. Stubbs was born in '61 and his current age is 61. Thank you for sharing this with us as I have never seen it until now ❤

I saw George Strait in concert 4 times in the 1990s around Southern California. This is one of my very favorite George Strait songs. He did retired from concert touring 10 years ago, but still appears in concert at 70 years old sometimes. You need to react to "Amarillo By Mornin'" probably his best known hit which is from the 1980s.

Then we met again when I was a freshman and he was a sophomore when he graduated 1977 we got married June that year, and this year will be married 47 years he’s my one, and only just like this song and it always reminds me of our relationship and I love it dearly.

George and his wife Norma, have been married for almost 53 years. They had two kids. A daughter named Jenifer, and a son named George, who they've always called Bubba. Jenifer was killed in a car accident, back in the mid 80's, when she was only 13. Even though I was only 5 or 6 when she got killed, I can vividly remember when it happened. I was mostly raised by my Grandparents, and whenever we went somewhere, the radio in the car, was always tuned in to a Country music station. When we were at home, their big console TV, was usually tuned in to CMT. So I can remember hearing it talked about on the radio and CMT. It was so sad.
