I know it's still early, but I think Onew's "Winner" may become one of my favorites of 2025. I love the message within the lyrics. We need more positive messages in the world today. People need to know that no matter how bad things might seem at the moment, if they fight through it and don't let other people and outside forces take control, they too can be the winner in the end and can ultimately triumph over all those negative forces and people who are only looking to make themselves feel better by pushing you down. And Onew's powerful vocals are a perfect match for the message and vibe of the song as well. I couldn't imagine a better artist to sing a song like this than our eternal sunshine Lee JinKi. He perfectly understands what it's like to go through hard times and be able to find your way out on the other side and continue to be the winner of your life. Which I think makes this song feel that much more genuine and like he is speaking his own truth, not just singing a good song. Of course, Onew is an amazing singer and performer. That's why the members of SHINee are some of the most well-respected singers and artists, and why they are one of the top groups in the industry. SHINee are the golden standard. It's literally known as the SHINee standard, and it's what all other groups strive to reach. SHINee are such an elite group of performers that they are recognized for the fact that there are no longer any fixed roles in their group. The main vocalists can rap, the rappers can fill in as main vocalists and they're all impressive dancers. Onew is considered one of the premiere vocalists in the industry, who is known for being the male vocalist with the most consistent voice for the past 16+ years. He is one of the vocalists that vocal coaches use as an example of what people should try to emulate in order to become a great singer. He has been recognized as one of the top vocalists in Kpop since even before debut. He was only one of two people ever personally cast by Lee SooMan, and he was chosen at age 16/17 for his outstanding vocal ability. Onew's vocal technique is so good that even as a rookie -- he debuted when he was just 18 years old -- he was a vocal coach and mentor to a lot of trainees. Although his Connection album, which "Winner" is on, is his 4th EP album, he actually has 6 solo albums all together, including Japanese albums, as well as dozens of singles. And you have only just scratched the surface of SHINee's music, so if you like "Winner," you really need to start diving more into SHINee and Onew's solo content to really see what makes him such an outstanding artist and person.

Onew released this mv when I was really struggling and needed some peace. My 2025 started with a sad moment and really ruined my emotions. But I stood my ground because I know nothing will turn into a miracle or something without doing anything. I feel like I am a winner for the hardships I faced.

Wow, this is the first time I've seen a reaction from both of you. As a big fan of SHINee and Onew, I appreciate that you two are true listeners of SHINee and support them with good words. People may have certain expectations about the type of songs Onew has sung or what he will bring in the future, but his solo career just began with a new agency last year. He is so ready to express everything to be hidden for years. He is involved in every aspect of his album(Flow and Connection), even down to the typos and the quality of the paper used for the album packaging. He's also been creating live clips to showcase how Onew sings and performs in his own way. Winner is actually not what an average Onew title track sounds like, it's a new sound for him. Yes he does have a lot of slower OST-like songs and ballads but also plenty of upbeat funky and RnB tunes as well. This album alone, all of the b-sides are different and sound nothing like Winner.

Thanks for reacting to Onew! If you are looking for more poppy songs from him, try Dice, Beat Drum, Yay!, Maestro, and Hola. He also has many slower songs and ballads, some of which are duets, They are Circle, Blue, Way, Lullaby, Life Goes On, Kira Kira, and Scales. The last three of those are Japanese releases if that matters. Whether pop or ballad, his songs are always wonderful!

Funny thing is shinee started singing about heart break and all the life misery from when they were teens and they made it feel like they really went through that 😅 coz of how they emote. Jonghyun wrote some super awesome songs for his solo and SHINee,esp b sides which are very emotional when he's in his 20s
