Yeah that's a big call who announced this. Rolling stones? The rock and hall of fame. His amazing and one of the best but think this is fake. Even then when I googled it it said he got 7th on rolling stones for best ROCK singers

Thanks for listening to my boys CV!! In response to your comments about Eddie Vedder’s (vocalist) sound, the band ‘Creed’, and many others, copied Eddie’s sound. And you are spot on, this was MTV Unplugged, filmed in 1992 with songs from their first album. His voice has matured and like fine wine, has gotten better with age! Pearl Jam’s repertoire is so diverse; from slow ballads about lost loves, to anthems about societal issues and then the heavier tracks like ‘Animal’, ‘Spin the black circle’ and ‘Evolution’. They even have some weird as trippy experimental songs like ‘Bugs’, which is on their Vitalogy album. The band do some great covers; Pink Floyd’s Comfortably Numb, Neil Young’s Rockin in the Free World, The Who’s Baba 0’Riley, John Lennon’s Imagine… Too many to mention. I could talk about these guys til the cows come home!! Eddie also has his solo stuff, which is different to the bands music. Much more chilled. He actually released an album called ‘Ukulele Songs’ which is self explanatory. He also recorded all the songs for the movie ‘Into the Wild’ directed by Sean Penn, which is based on a true story. Well worth a watch. Thanks again and glad you enjoyed it! I’m a lyrics person, so yes, the lyrics in this are beautiful. He’s quite a wordsmith my Eddie 😉 Cheers Donna 💜

That whole gig was awesome, the MTV unplugged show. That was off their debut album (TEN). One of my favourite albums of all time.

The beauty of these good rock bands is that they can play hard but they do ballads so well.

This isn’t even a ballad. It’s pure raw emotion. Period.

@@DonnaWedel-c8b Yeah, I'm in the 10 Club, but I'm not active on the forums or anything. I'm seeing them end of August in Indianapolis. They were supposed to play last year, but the show was cancelled about 6 hours before the show. Can't wait...it'll be the first time I've seen them live since 2011.

Pearl Jam rock my world with they first "Ten" album! I was teenager then, and i still love "Black", mostly because of Eddie Vedder's lyrics. Welcome to the PJ "rabbit hole"!😊 You MUST to hear they latest "Dark Matter" album! For me, Pearl Jam was, and still is all about storytelling. Anyway, i am from Serbia 🇷🇸, 48 young man😊, and i love your reaction!❤

Great reaction. Love the GZA shirt too! I’ve got similar weird taste in music. I go from John Farnham to Wu Tang and Nas to Nirvana and Pearl Jam, to Neil Young. I like more of the grunge/ rock bands doing acoustic versions of their songs, not so much the heavy stuff. Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam does an acoustic song with an Aussie - Mark Seymour from Hunters and Collectors called “Throw Your Arms Around Me”. I didn’t like the original song but Eddies version is pretty cool.
@DonnaWedel-c8b2 ай бұрын
Yeah I totally agree about Eddie’s version of Throw Your Arms… not a fan of Mark Seymour. But really, what can’t Eddie cover?! Opera? Gregorian chants? 😂😂

“I know someday you’ll have a beautiful life, i know you’ll be a star in somebody else’s sky” most relatable lyrics I’ve heard ever to be honest, really reminds me of my ex girlfriend, im not sure why I’m not over her, she made me feel terrible all the time, it’s just the good things about her that stick with me. She’s with some other guy right now I just hope she doesn’t treat him as badly as she did to me, she broke up with me the same day my uncle passed away in a motorcycle accident, when I told her what happened she didn’t believe me and thought I was lying to make her feel bad, like how could you do that? It was honestly one of the worst days of my life and that was about 3 months ago. I’ve lost 2 uncles, 2 grandparents, and a close friend within the past 2 years. At the lowest I’ve ever been to be honest, drug addicted, and I can’t even control what pops up in my head. I just know God’s with me and he will one day he’ll forgive me for my sins, I hope he does. I hope I’ll be okay one day.

Eddie was getting over a heavy cold. It gives a quite distinctive sound. Ozzy Osbourne had the same thing when recording the first Sabbath album.

Oh and this is an MTV Unplugged performance and the point of them was to take big rock bands that are loud and electric and have them do acoustic, stripped back sets. Nirvana and Alice In Chains both did them with amazing results as well.
@robbob53022 ай бұрын
That vocal technique you were trying to name, is called “grit.” It can cause long term damage to the vocal chords, if applied incorrectly. In other words, kids don’t try this at home!
@davidbelcher541924 күн бұрын
The actual name for it is vocal distortion.
@evergreenforestwitch2 ай бұрын
This style of music and, in particular vocalizing, was indicative of grunge rock, centered in Seattle in the 90s. Eddie Vedder (here) Layne Staley (Alice in Chains) and Chris Cornell (Soundgarden and later Audioslave) all were virtuosic singers with a style thar would include variations not generally considered nice, Eddie Vedder's fast vibrato, Layne Staley's nasal placement of sound were vere very distinctive and not normal of pop. Kurt Cobain of Nirvana had the most heart wrenching scream and grit, that while not technically as good as Vedder is at least as impactful. If you like his voice, check out more of these artists. This is what I listened to in hs and it's great. Loved the reaction! Oh and there were a ton of bands (Stone Temple Pilots, Creed, 3rd Eye Blind) with singers that sounded similar to Vedder, but Vedder is the OG.

Jeremy is another great classic track, with a sad story behind the song. CV has said he doesn’t listen to a lot of Rock. So I chose a slower song with real feeling and emotion, rather than a heavier track, to ease CV into the world of PJ and my hubby EV lol 😊

If you’re just getting into 90’s rock resist the urge to use the term “grunge” you’ll never hear any 90’s rock band use the term it’s an idiotic genre term the music industry made up because they have to have a category for everything so they can shove a group into it. It’s just rock plain as that, people wore flannel then for the same reason people do now: it gets cold.
@robbob53022 ай бұрын
You will never hear anybody refer to themselves as a “hero” either. Doesn’t change the fact there are some out there. Whether they admit it or not.
