"Wasted Time" is an absolute beast of a vocal, Seb gives a masterclass in it of passion and pain - the song was written for their friend, original Guns'n'Roses drummer, Steven Adler, who was heavily addicted at that point (and hence why he got fired from G'n'R, too f*cked up to play) as a plea to get clean.

I remember in the 80's seeing an interview with Sebastian Bach(lead singer) and Rachel Bolan(bass player) on Much Music's Power Hour. With your host JD Roberts. The question was asked, "What is this song and video about?" And I kinda recall Sebastian and Rachel saying something along these lines: "It's a love that for reasons unspecified, in the song and video. Came to an end, at least for one person. The other person is left with this empty hole in their heart. In the video, we see that it's this guy. Who seemingly never recovered from losing her. But he remembers every little aspect of the love they once shared. He's held onto it for an undetermined amount of time. And now, he's letting go(burning the pictures he's held onto), but letting her know under no circumstances, will he EVER forget. But he needs to move on and he's now doing that." Hope that helps you Britt. And has already suggested in the comments, next song you NEED to react to from Skid Row? Wasted Time. Gotta do the original music video, adds to the experience when you can see Sebastian's angst. While he sings this powerful song. To save you time and research later... It's a song he wrote about his good friend Steven Adler. Guns N' Roses original drummer, who had a STRONG addiction to heroin. Enjoyed your reaction. Keep up the GREAT work! 🤘🤘🤘

This song is about loss. We know. It could be about losing a loved one, like a friend, girlfriend, wife, etc in death. In connection with that, it can lead to the loss of a "previous life." I don't mean being reincarnated or being someone in "a past life." I mean like in the case of this character, for some reason, ends up falling on very hard times. Therefore, depression issues, financial issues, etc. lead to a loss of identity into ruining someone's life. Like that line from Guns N Roses song "Yesterdays" says "'Cause yesterday's got nothin' for me." So his status of being homeless and burning the pictures of the great past times means nothing anymore. Just painful memories.
@dmckoon1313 Жыл бұрын
Someone else may have answered, but she died. He loved her so much that he lost his will and/or motivation to live, so he became homeless. My opinion is that he is wandering to places that held meaning for them in an attempt to move on (since he was burning the pictures that he has likely gone through a thousand times), but he will always remember her.

The concept at the time was the guys wife died, and he loved her so much that he gave up on life and became homeless... He came to realize that she probably wanted him to continue on with his life... thus, the photo burning meaning was that he was letting go of her... and just keeping the memories of her... Sort of a process of healing profound grief. If that makes sense. (this is what I recall from reading about the band in the late 80's, when this song first came out, and what they said about the video in interviews).
