They were not underrated according the the Billboard music charts when I was younger.. Their Album blew away the pop rock competition when it came out. They just were not together long enough to create the legacy that they deserved. I see many reaction videos on them now. Great to see our youth being exposed to what I feel is iconic music.

I saw them open for... I think Motley Crue? After they were done I saw a huge part of the audience get up and leave. I was like WTF just happened. Finished the concert, went home, did some research, bought an album. Best thing in my life, Skid Row saved me from skid row.

Powerful song for sure. Sebastian poured his heart and soul into this one. Not only can you hear it, but the video gives you visuals into his angst and sorrow. For his good friend Steven Adler, as already mentioned. Original drummer for Guns N' Roses. Who did get kicked out for his HEAVY drug(heroin) addiction. He continued to play with other bands, but kept fighting his addiction off and on. He was there for the induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012 as a member of Guns N' Roses. Last I heard, he was clean and still playing music. Enjoyed your reaction, keep up the GREAT work Britt! 🤘🤘🤘

At this point there was nobody in rock who could touch Sebastian Bach for sheer vocal power. And back then I would have burned down an orphanage to have that hair. And a lot of the harmonies are done by the incredible Scotti Hill, one of the the band's guitarists. He also plays the solo, which is one of his very best. That guy can rip your face off, and tear your heart out at the same time.

One of the great vocalists in metal, that man could hold notes, insane notes, for a long time. He actually blew his voce out making this album and even though they were on a deadline, he wouldn't finish the vocal tracks til he healed....dope asf. A forgotten band tbh, who weren't just a hair band, which they got locked into, they sang about deep topics that were taboo to some. When he say "and the horse stampedes and rages" that is a referral to heroin....which is also known as horse, or smack etc fyi. As the one below stated, for Steven Adler who was junked out, like so many back then. Slave to the Grind, which is what this song is off of, ois hella good and a heavy album in many respects. Suggest you do Monkey Business and Slave to the Grind....for fire asf songs as well as some more lovely pants you want.

How do you mean "not just a hair band"? From what I read, it sounded like you felt hair bands didn't make music that was deep. Am I reading this wrong?

The first lyric was 'the horse stampedes and races'. It's a song about their friend falling victim to a heroin (horse) addiction. And after Skid Row Sebastian went to Broadway, playing Jeckyll & Hyde, and in Rocky Horror and Jesus Christ Superstar. He's a supremely talented singer.

This song is powerful considering it's meaning and it's all about being there for someone who wouldn't accept your help because of the addiction! there's another sone about the same thing by a different band my mom who is a nurse and doesn't like heavy music at all but still understands and will cry because the person she was taking care of loved. That song is don't close your eyes by kix! Both songs are about people you tried to save and you lost them in the end because of an overdose when you were doing everything you could to save them!

I loved Skid Row in the 90s. I still really like their music from back than. Sebastian had an amazing voice and was a beautiful man. I'm trying to ignore that nowadays he still has a good voice but is a humorless metal boomer (see his online beef with Ronnie Radke). But I guess that doesn't take away from him being a great singer and him still making me cry sometimes with this song. Plus this song and very few others might have played a roll in me never trying hard drugs like some of my friends. So I'm grateful for that.

Skid Row were a perfect example of a good band that came along at exactly the wrong time. They were discovered by Bon Jovi in the late 80s, had their first record, which was a big hit, put out in ‘89, but when Slave To the Grind, the album “Wasted Time” was included on, came out, rock had already started to shift, thanks to Metallica’s Black Album, the crossover appeal of Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Blood Sugar Sex Magic,” Pantera’s “Cowboys From Hell” and the arrival of grunge. If Skid Row’s first album had come out 5 years earlier, they would have had five times the success they did. But in their case, the whole genre shifted right under their feet.
@timmiller745 Жыл бұрын
They weren't "discovered " by Jon Bon Jovi. Snake Sabo and Jon grew up together. Jon got them signed for a cut of the 1st album. Some of the members were pissed that he got a big cut of a successful first album. They just came back and made an even better 2nd album

You and I together in our lives Sacred ties would never fray Then why can I let myself tell lies And watch you die every day? I think back to the times When dreams were what mattered Tough-talking youth naivete You said you'd never let me down But the horse stampedes and rages In the name of desperation Is it all just wasted time? Can you look at yourself when you think of what You left behind? Is it all just wasted time? Can you live with yourself when you think of what You've left behind? Paranoid delusions, they haunt you Where's my friend I used to know? He's all alone, he's buried deep within A carcass searching for a soul Can you feel me inside your heart as it's bleeding? Why can't you believe you can be loved? I hear you scream in agony And the horse stampedes and rages In the name of desperation Is it all just wasted time? Can you look at yourself when you think of what You left behind? Is it all just wasted time? Can you live with yourself when you think of what You've left behind? Oh, you said you'd never let me down But the horse stampedes and rages In the name of desperation Is it all just wasted time? Can you look at yourself when you think of what You left behind? Is it all just wasted time? Can you live with yourself when you think of what You've left behind? The sun will rise again The earth will turn to sand Creation's colors seem to fade to grey And you'll see the sickly hands of time Will write your final rhyme And end our memory, yeah I never thought you'd let it get this far, boy Oh, I never thought, I never thought you'd let it get this far, boy, oh, no! I never thought, I never thought you'd let it get this far, boy, no! I never thought you'd let it get this far, boy

Coming from a tiny mountain town in northeaster Alabama (it was a 120-ish miles round trip to the nearest mall which was the closest place to purchase heavy metal music in the late 80's ~ early 90's) my first proper concert was in 1990. I was 15 years old and it was Skid Row opening for Guns 'n Roses. Honestly I was way more into thrash metal but was a fan of both bands earlier material. The lady I was seeing at the time wanted to go, so she paid for the tickets, hotel room, and, um, a few other necessary amenities of the drinking and smoking kind. Skid Row put on a great show, put their whole asses into it; unfortunately the same can't be said for GnR. To the band's credit,they tried to hold it together, but Axl was in full pissy junkie ptima dona mode and ended up storming off stage after only a handful of tunes (like 4 and a half) and doesn't return. And truthfully I gave zero f*cks because his vocals up until that point were such an atrocious train wreck I actually welcomed his departure that evening with absolutely grateful eardrums. The show was outdoors, general admission, and tickets cost $15 each lol
