Some fans swear that they can see Yui wearing a back brace under her costume during her last performances. I don't see it, but who knows. I would really like to know what and how she is doing, but even more than that, I'm happy for her that she can live in peace. We haven't gotten the tiniest piece of info on her since her departure, and that's how it should be. I really admire the Japanese for putting the respect for her privacy above everything else. This would be pretty impossible in the West, I'm sure.

There are two images that have been pulled from the last performance video where from certain angles you can clearly see that Yui has something very stiff under her costume running from her shoulders right down to her lower back. So, I favour the back injury story, but hey, who knows. As long as she is healthy, happy and living well, I am happy for her. I wish Yui nothing but the best.

These girls are so different than the pop/rock stars of the west. For all the choreography they do for every song. None of their routines/moves are gratuitous or suggestive in any way. Their outfits are modest and cool. they are literally covered from the neck down, unlike western artists who show basically everything. They are also social media silent. They don't get into politics or opine on social issues. They just perform....and I admire Japan culturally for respecting artists like Babymetal, and leaving their personal lives personal.

After Yui left and there where only the two on stage it just seemed awkward in their live performances and that is why the Avengers where added. Since Momoko became a permanent member there seems to be a renewed energy and enthusiasm from both Su and Moa, they never looked as happy as they do now. Since the release of "The Other One" Babymetal has seemed to be gaining traction, I truly believe that if the latest exposure continues like it has been in the last while Babymetal will become one of the biggest draws in music today.

Good one fellas! Everything on "why" Yui left is going to be pure speculation. However, one can't discount the fact that she may have also chosen to leave. If that is the case, I for one, respects it. We sometimes forget how young they were when they all started Babymetal. Naturally , as she grows older, her goals in life may change. In addition, I do respect how Babymetal took their time with their 3rd member. I believe initially they may have been holding the spot in case Yui wishes to come back, but it also gave the girls time to truly connect with the 3rd member (Momo). Afterall, these 3 have amazing chemistry on and off stage. You can tell from all the little things that they are truly great friends, and not just a "show" they put on for the fans. This may not have worked out that way if Koba just inserted a random 3rd member as a replacement. Kudos to them for doing it right! 🤘🦊

A lot of new fans probably do not fully realize what a big shock this was when Yui left. Yui was my favorite member. Of course Su and Moa were always fabulous, but Yui had an extra charge of "kawaii". We had seen her grow up from an 11 year old to an 18 year old beloved performer. Fortunately, they found a very worthy successor in Momo.

I admire much of the Japanese culture especially how there appears to be a respectful line between celebrity and a private life. Yui's departure may be one of the greatest entertainment mysteries to exist and yet Suzuka, Moa, family, friends and acquaintances have kept her privacy secure. The character, work ethic and discipline matches or exceeds their individual and collective talent.

Sakura Gakuin clubs were reflective of common clubs in scholastic settings, Babymetal was the oddity in the mix - there is a long long story behind that; it was not supported by SG but it was allowed because the music director wanted to try it out. He had a dream of mixing metal with jpop, and with Su-Metal he found a potentially perfect lead singer (spoilers - it worked out pretty well). I expect it's hard to think of, but Babymetal was the thing nobody in leadership agreed with in Sakura Gakuin. They generated a yearly album from SG with a song from each "club", imagine expecting to get pure jpop - idol sort of songs targeting younger folks, and one of the songs on the album is Babymetal. That's what happened, it was such a shock their first singles (BM) charted in Japan, which led to them getting to do a concert in a music house (think 1k ish), then a small series, then Legend 1997 which went globally viral, then Sonisphere which got them into UK venues, then charting in the US and UK. Etc.

Spoiler alert: don't forget that PA PA YA is ostensibly about making a spicy papaya salad. Just saying. The Japanese are particularly respectful of people's privacy. The prevailing feeling is that Yui has given years of joy to fans through her performances and personality. Now that she is no longer performing she has earned her privacy. Amuse seems to work really hard at helping all the ladies maintain their private lives.

Nice one ... and with regard to Yui there is absolutely no point in trying to guess or coming up with (even more) unfounded speculation about "it could have been this, it could have been that, I had a friend who ... , I once had this happen, I heard about someone who ..." or whatever else. The guide told you absolutely everything we know. There have been some completely insane theories, none of them based on anything other than peoples' own imaginations and insecurities - and to be quite frank it was ****ing annoying and so were all those people demanding we be told everything. It was and is none of our business. If ever Yui comes out and says something then we will know - until then the basic facts are that she did not perform at the Legend S concerts in December 2017 under the advice of her doctor. After a lot of noise from "fans" when she did not appear at the start of the 2018 tour it was confirmed she would not be appearing on the tour but was still a member of the band. On October 19th 2018 it was announced that she had made the decision to leave the band and Yui's own statement (which was shown in the guide if you want to read it) explained her decision and said everything else we might need to know. I for one appreciate the fact that her privacy has been respected by Amuse and by anybody and everybody who might know any more. On the Sakura Gakuin sub-units .... they were themed like after school clubs, so their songs were related to the theme of each club. As for the musical style - all of them had JPop at their root ... Cooking Club (Mini Patti) sang about food ('Miracle Patiful Hamburger' is a great song if you want to watch one from them), Science Club sang about science and so on. Mini Patti had at least 3 "generations", the original 3 girls were replaced by Yui, Moa and their friend Hana and when they graduated the third generation including Momoko took their place. The 3 girls wore bandanas, red, green and yellow, which they passed on to the next generation when they left.

No-one in the fan community knows what the real story is with Yui's departure from Babymetal. There has been a lot of speculation and fan debate over the years, but the only people who know are in Team Babymetal and they will never tell. Yui has been an off limits topic in interviews for some years now, so it's very clear that they don't have any intention of talking about the situation again, especially now that Momometal has officially joined the group. At the end of the day, we aren't owed an explanation, Yui gave us seven years and it's her life to live. The only thing we need to do is say "Thank you" and wish her the best in whatever she is doing now. During the five years between when Yui stopped performing in October 2017 and April 2023 when Momometal joined, they tried a bunch of difference dance arrangements but in the end they went back to the trio formation each time. The Avengers were the longest lasting of these placeholder solutions. I think they held off on recruiting a replacement for so long because they hoped that Yui might be able to come back, but once they decided that they were going to continue on after the hiatus, they had to have a permanent third member and asked Momoko to officially join the group.

00:24 they do have songs about food. If you want to have a feeling, you could listen to Miracle Patiful Burger with subtitles! 06:39 the only clue we have about what medical issue Yui could have, it's that at the last show she did, it looks like under her clothes she was wearing a back brace. So most likely she had back issues, and that's pretty serious when you have to dance that much.

Yui was asked what she wished for in a later interview and she said she wanted to be able to perform in regular clothes instead of babymetal costumes all the time. Given that she also said she wanted to pursue her own career my guess is that she just wanted to be Yui Mizuno and not Yui metal. I think maybe her health issues gave her the excuse she needed. It seems reasonable. I could see wanting to do something besides back Su up all the time always dressed in pigtails. She is a talented singer and performer and might have just gotten tired of being a character. Besides if you listen to her interviews she used to be exhausted by the end of the concerts. All of that just probably just made her want to do her own thing. I would bet that she was there a year longer than she wanted to be. On the one hand it was a dream come true, on the other hand it was a complete life commitment.. If she started performing now I would follow her. She and moa and su are such beautiful woman and great talents I hope to see her perform soon.

iirc Artists in Japanese are typically paid a salary. Since Yui is still on contract with Amuse we can assume she is getting paid. Not sure about royalities for the songs they wrote, but doubt they own the rights, so no royalties. The Yellow Bandana was worn by Yui when she was part of Mini Patti (cooking). Perhaps it was foreshadowing when Momo also wore the yellow bandana and wanted to be a dancer for a famous group. Yui left BM. Her private life and reasons are not our business. The last public appearance of Yui was at the Big Fox Festival in Oct 2017. Her last song with BM was "The One" - check out the lyrics - even more meaningful in the context of her departure. There have been only two written communications from her since. The reason for her departure and continuing silence is pure conjecture. Check out the BM subeddit, et al, for the multitude of discussion on why.

If it is in the Japanese genes to "help each other and come together" when a group is in trouble, could it have been this gene that caused the audience at the venue to cheer as loudly as they could at Babymetal's Hiroshima concert in December 2017, when YUI-METAL suddenly left, and strongly supported the success of the concert? Even if you take into account that it is the birthplace of SU-METAL, their enthusiastic cheering was amazing! I think it's amazing that they released a DVD when one of the three members is missing, and since the content is rich, I think Babymetal fans would be happy if this channel were to feature it someday. "LEGEND - S - BAPTISM XX - " (LIVE AT HIROSHIMA GREEN ARENA/Concert in December 2017)

The reason for the oddball standout of the "heavy music club" was 100% because Koba was an aging metalhead. Your idea of different clubs for various music genres is good IMO but Amuse treated it more like "The Mickey Mouse Club" where it was just finding excuses to get their talent do to stuff on camera.

My theory about Yui leaving is more of a psychological problem. I had the impression that as she got older she became more and more shy and did not enjoy being on stage as much and the attention focused on her rather bothered her. When I first saw Babymetal Yui was about 13 years old. It was she who had the effect of her cuteness on me like a giant magnet. It will make me very happy when a healthy and happy Yui greets us one day.

My personal Yui theory is torn discs in her back. As others noted she might have been wearing a back brace at the last few shows, it is a very common injury for dancers and their peers had it happen to them also, even their best friend Ayami. Su's older sister had mental health issues being an idol and left the scene. She went to school for psychology and now runs a mental health clinic. I suspect Su funded some of the clinic, how else can you buy a clinic?

@@AxeSwipe2011 She fell off the stage on the first night at the Budokan in March 2014, not the Tokyo Dome (2016), and she was back up on stage smiling and happy and showing no ill effects for the next song. It was nearly 4 years later that she missed the Legend S concerts following her doctor's advice. Obviously I know no more than you or anybody else, but I doubt very much her fall in 2014 was the cause of whatever stopped her performing (even if it was a back injury).

Nobody knows the actual reasons for Yui's departure. To be totally honest it never occured to me it could be mental exhaustion. That's as good a theory as any. I always had the feeling she developed the same life-threatening illness that her family member had that they mentioned since her departure was quite sudden it seemed. I'm probably wrong, but it's ways been a feeling I had. I also have a feeling that Yui is still kind of with Babymetal, but more behind the scenes now. This was very much her passion almost as much as Su's I feel.
