Just to make sure, that they are indeed a serious band and loved from millions of metalheads around the world. The Song "Road of resistance" for example was co written by Herman Li of Dragonforce (who is a friend of the band) They also collaborated with Bring Me The Horizon with their song "Kingslayer" and they're also befriended with Oli Sykes who is a big fan of their music. You would love their other stuff, doesnt matter if its the new or the old stuff. They're so versatile and a blast live. Their shows are huge and well thought out. Goodnight. The reaction is the most normal when one faces BabyMetal for the first time with "gimme chocalate". Babymetal, at that time was a subband of a group of idols called "Sakura Gakuin" that represented the Japanese elementary school (between 10 and 15 years old. She is this concert they were just 16 years old the singer and 14 the choristers) dividing in clubs. They, within this idol band represented the Heavy Metal Club. To understand this group you have to understand this, since their first album is, above all, the work of a children's heavy metal group, with songs aimed at an audience between 10 and 15 years old, mainly girls. But they are so good that the quality of their music transcended this barrier, reaching both their target audience and an older metal audience. There are many songs from that time that can justify this: megitsune Akatsuki Road of resistance (live in japan) no rain no rainbow Headbangers Ijime, Dame, Zetai And the controversial Babymetal Death, which I recommend seeing as the 4th or 5th option. These songs are all from this first album that they released in 2013, if I remember correctly, when I was 15 and 13 years old.

Good reaction, but you clearly picked 'Gimme Chocolate' for the WTF reaction ... which is fair enough, that can be good fun. They have about 50 songs now and every one of them is different, so Ron's first impression would have been quite different with each of those other songs. Personally I would never start someone with this one (maybe with a real live version - this has the studio audio and that just isn't as good where BABYMETAL are concerned, they are a live performance act). They were put together, but not like or for the same reasons as American Idol. In their case the producer was a metalhead and he was so impressed with the lead singer when he saw her in her previous J-Pop trio that he had the idea of her fronting a metal/J-Pop fusion band. The agency thought he was mad - there was no known audience, no commercial viability, metal in Japan at that time was on a steep downward spiral and they thought it would be a very short lived and failed experiment. They only allowed him his pet project under the umbrella of a bigger J-Pop group because it would cost them nothing if it did fail - they provided no extra budget for it at all. Against every expectation BABYMETAL started to gain a small following, so they put on a couple of their own shows outside of their parent group's shows, playing small venues with 150 capacity, the food hall at a festival and so on and all the time their following grew. So it was decided when the lead singer was 15 and would graduate from the parent group (it had a school theme and was for girls aged 10 to 15) BABYMETAL should also separate to go with her and to be her vehicle as she developed her career as a vocalist and performer. The two younger girls also elected to carry on in BABYMETAL even though they were still heavily involved with the parent group and would be very busy with both that group and touring with BABYMETAL (and with studying at their own schools of course) for the next two years until they also graduated having reached 15. In anticipation of the separation a live band was phased in to support BABYMETAL in live shows. They were not in this video - the guys in skeleton suits were actors or dancers miming the instruments to a back track and they were just there for show. The live band (some of the very best session musicians to be found in Japan, each one a world class musician) first appeared in October 2012 and played at a coupe of festivals and the encores in some shows ... this was the last show where they only played the encores. In early 2014 the live band became their full time support for all live shows. They are the Kami Band (kami means god or spirit, so they are the gods of guitar, bass and drums summoned from the dead to support BABYMETAL ... as such they wore traditional white burial robes and corpse face paint). Since the introduction of the Kami Band of the West in 2019 (American musicians) the robes are black and masks have replaced the face paint. Since their formation in 2010 (the girls were aged 12 and 11) and their first tour outside of Asia in 2014 BABYMETAL have gone on to become one of the very best live acts on the planet - they have won nearly all of the well over 30 awards they have been nominated for, not just the one you mentioned. For another reaction try 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' (you can call it IDZ if you have to, it means Bullying No More, Fore Ever) live at Sonisphere2014 in the UK, their first major event outside of Asia in front of maybe 60k UK metalheads who had never heard of them before they started their set. This is the last of the 5 songs they played that day ...

i got a suggestion, This is probly one of the more "light" babymetal songs you could find. road to resistance is one of their most epic bangers, but also megistune is a pretty wild departure. Rondo of Nightmare is pretty baller too. but yea this one is one of the more "pop" style ones. As far as the "manufactured" or "its just a product" ideas that float around with j-pop. yes this is true to an extent, however with Babymetal, this really is a passion project by the produces, and the girls are genuinely here because they love it. their studio is known for treating their idols better than most others, to the extent they can in the industry that is. but this isn't just some cash cow, if that was the goal they would have just done regular j-pop the kind you see all over the place.

Ah, I wish I could reset my memory and discover BABYMETAL freshly again. It‘s so good! The video footage of this video is from the „Legend 1997“ show in 2013, one day after Su‘s (the main singer) 16th birthday. The other two are 1.5 years younger. But the audio was actually the studio track. It gets even better when you see a real live show. Confusion is the usual first stage of a BABYMETAL infection. I would assume that by now the song is already running wild in your brain and triggering the anticipation receptors? The second song (which I recommend to be „Headbanger“) will make you go „hm, this is actually really good and excitingly fresh“, and the third will push you over the edge. That positive and happy feeling you get from their music will not fade. I have been a fan for 4.5 years now, and I still smile like an idiot every time I listen to their music, and even more so when I watch a live performance. It‘s the epitome of entertainment to me.

⚡ 💀 💕 / 🍫 💝 The BABYMETAL members are very aware that "WTF?" is a common first reaction. That's one reason their early videos went viral. They look at this as a way of getting a foot in the door. BABYMETAL is a concept that seems like it shouldn't work, and if they didn't execute at the highest level, it probably wouldn't. I first saw this one shortly after it was posted in 2014. And I was a fan by the end of the first chorus. : ) 'Gimme Chocolate!!' is their most popular music video (over 150 million views). It's also the only song they've performed on US television (The Colbert Show). They have been joined on stage for this song by members of Korn, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and DragonForce. Not all at the same time though. : ) That was the world debut for this song, although the music video uses the studio audio, rather than the live concert sound. The live audio from the DVD/blu-ray of this 'Legend 1997' concert sounded great. The lead singer, Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto, or Su) had just turned sixteen the day before this show. Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) and Moametal (Moa Kikuchi) were both fourteen. Looks like folks have already recommended some great follow ups. I hope you keep going. Every song is different, and they're all great.

Good reaction, thanks! "Gimme Chocolate" is "just" a fun song about the girls wanting to eat chocolate but being worried about their weight... but it's also very metal. And that's the point, they are the fusion of kawaii and metal but they take the concept further. All their songs are very different from each other. And this one has clearly a huge and intended WTF factor. So, you will need to check out some of their more "serious" songs and also their backing band and even more of their lead singer skills. And I believe that this one is the appropriate: "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" (Live at Sonisphere 2014): kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKCQkJaYm8mlj6c Until next time!

This is often the "gateway drug" to Babymetal and you have the classic reaction of a smile and "WTF" as your synapses try to reform and adjust to this new reality. Right now you are probably thinking "that was fun, but super weird and it's just a gimmick". Well I strongly encourage you to listen to: "Road of Resistance Live in Japan" "Rondo of Nightmare Budokan Black Night" "Headbanger Legend 1997" "Tales of the Destinies" I think these will convince you that Babymetal is way more than a gimmick. Gimme Chocolate is the MV that broke Babymetal into the KZbin universe and beyond. It's generally not voted one of the favorites with BM fans because it is actually quite gimmicky, doesn't have the Kami Band backing, and Su doesn't get to show off her singing much. The song's lyrics aren't very deep either, just about a girl who likes chocolate and is worried that she might put on some weight.
@jeffschreifels86512 жыл бұрын
When Gimme Chocolate is the first song you hear, confusion is a very common reaction. Once you're a few songs in you will start to understand why Babymetal is so popular. This is NOT some Spice Girls garbage. Well, you'll have to see it for yourself before you'll believe it. 😆 I will recommend Rondo of Nightmare (mischief of God's introduction) or maybe 'Headbanger' legend 1997 which is from the same concert as the Gimme Chocolate video you just watched. For something newer check out Kagerou. Any suggestions will be fine because they don't really have a bad song.

And here we are the Babymetal reaction. 🙂 Careful with saying Wembley Stadium, Babymetal performed at Wembley Arena one time as promotion of the second album, which is a venue of 12 500 people, Wembley Stadium, across the street, is 80 000 people. That's a different beast all entirely. You might think Babymetal is a very commercial project, but it got started because metal music wasn't commercial. It's a passion project from 1 producer guy who noticed a very talented young singer, Suzuka at age 10, he really wanted to work with. The music genre he's most passionate about is metal, he used to work with bands, but demand for bands was in decline and he was asked to work with kids. And this is the result of that situation. I've been in a Babymetal pit, it's a wonderful place. So many happy faces. Lots of metal music is range and anger, Babymetal is a happy/positive metal music.

Great reaction and welcome to BABYMETAL! Good job of Paul by not saying too much about BABYMETAL and just giving Ronn space to naturally express himself without too much sway so that his reaction is genuine! I feel that's the best for first time reactions. I know it was hard for Paul, he had his hand over his mouth most of the time lol! Well, also to keep himself from laughing, too, haha. And absolutely hell to the yes on more BABYMETAL on this channel! Just a quick warning that reacting to certain videos will get you blocks. I've suggested a couple links to videos that are safe to react to in another post. You should definitely react to suggested videos from the official channel but keep in mind many will likely get blocked. Luckily a simple solution is to put a semi-transparent image over the embedded video after you record your reaction. The trick is to adjust the opacity/transparency the right amount to see the video underneath but also enough to get you past the block. Making the opacity 50-60% should be enough, but if not then bump it up higher. Many use the BABYMETAL logo but you can use whatever image you want. Examples of videos you'll *probably* need to do this for is: - BABYMETAL - ギミチョコ!!- Gimme chocolate!! (OFFICIAL) [ yes, the one you just did ] - BABYMETAL - Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL) - BABYMETAL - KARATE (OFFICIAL) - BABYMETAL - メギツネ - MEGITSUNE (OFFICIAL)

He should for sure see some more of their songs. Not all their songs I would say are very commercial. In fact most are not. They have some very serious songs too. Not too mention you need to see more with the Kami band backing them. Try Road of Resistance live in Japan,Headbanger 1997 apocalypse. Rondo of Nightmare live is another very good one. There are even more good ones but too many to mention. Not all their songs contain pop elements. In fact some are just about as heavy musical wise as many other metal bands out there. You should dive down the fox hole more and explore them. One thing is for certain. None of their songs are the same.

BTW, on this same concert, on the song Babymetal Death, Su, the main vocalist is "crucified" and the big virgin Mary like statue from behind gets destroyed, 'cause a new Goddess has borne.

If you got through this song, then you're in for a great ride. Enjoy the journey! I suggest the song "Akatsuki' live at Budokan 2015 next to show how serious they get.

I recently started following BABYMETAL after seeing this video years ago. I enjoy seeing reaction videos to their videos. Most people are shocked initially it seems. I'm sure others have said this, but as for their ages, the lead singer (Su) was born in 1997, and the other two girls (Moa and Yui) were born in 1999. to mirror other posts, you may want to check out Road of Resistance (live in Japan) Headbanger (Legend 1997). some others I like are Pa Pa Ya featuring Thai rapper F. Hero.

but it's not a real bend, because the gods have not yet descended on the stage (kami band). after such reactions they fall into the fox hole and from there is no turning back.)))))

You have found yourself at a blue pill, red pill sort of fork in the road. You can choose to just go for the craziest shock value videos, in which case may I recommend going straight for death legend 1997. If on the other hand you want to broaden your mind, may I suggest, catch me if you can, Ijime, dame, zettai from sonisphere, Rondo of nightmare budokan, road of resistance live in japan. If you do decide to actually give them a fair shake the comment section will gladly fill you in with all sorts of information. There are 10 years of music, and as was stated Babymetal are HUGE! P.S. every song is different.

@@ThunderRooster Excellent choice, great for reactions! Remember, high likelihood this may get blocked but a simple watermark (semi-transparent image) over the embedded video is all it takes to get it past the video block. If you're not blocked on upload, it might be blocked some time afterwards, in which case you can try to dispute the block (some channels have luck with this) or you can just re-upload with the watermark (and mention in the title it's a re-upload due to block) and we'll watch it again! Sorry if I'm talking too much, just trying to help things go smoothly.

@@ThunderRooster Just be aware that that performance gets blocked a lot, so you might want to put a transparent logo on top or play a bit with the video opacity!

A nice first reaction, welcome to the rabbit/foxhole. Babymetal is a one of a kind, unique experience. You can say that Babymetal can fall into many people's view of a commercialized type band that is put together - but perhaps part of the saving grace is that their producer, Kobayashi Key, is a metal fan/producer (not a jpop/j-idol producer). The girls love what they do, they perform with passion and intensity, and you need to check out their backing band for live shows, the Kami band. Another Babymetal reaction ... what about Ijime Dame Zettai, Sonisphere 2014 (their first tour outside of Asia ... at a metal festival no less), or Karate at UK Download metal festival. The Babymetal experience, let's keep it rolling :)

He reacted really well to the "wtf" fun factor, so I'd continue on this path and go "Catch Me If You Can", before venturing into more serious songs. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q5jRqoBsbrGBa5Y This compilation is really amazing and the audio from Wembley it uses has the best Kami Band solos, his jaw will drop to the floor.

Wow. You stopped after 1 measure. Really?! BabyMetal generates shock and nonpluses with most first time listeners. Regrettably, your dulled sensibilities precluded your appreciation-- you giggle throughout like children at a puppet show. The reality is that the musicianship, composition, vocals, choreography, show production are absolutely top shelf professionally and creatively. Awesome and unique band. Can't give a like or subscribe.
