First Time Reaction Babymetal (Kagerou)

Welcome back to the Foxhole.🦊🤘🔥 Another song from the same composer of Karate, Rondo Of Nightmare, Monochrome and Believing. Kagerou is one of their songs showing that mature side of BabyMetal on 3rd album "Metal Galaxy". Started as a SuMetal solo in 2018 but in 2019 and later during live at The Forum they showed up with full formation and one _avenger_ taking the place of third spot as a backup dancer, in that moment was Riho Sayashi. This is a live compilation with clips from Legend Metal Galaxy 2020, Momoko was the avenger, and with the blaster sound of Western Kami Band and that melting face intro. Kagerou means "heat haze" and she's singing about the craziness when becoming obsessive for a love. The drummer is Anthony Barone, former Shadow Of Intent member and now is the drummer of a solo artist afaik, the rest of this band are Chris Kelly and CJ. Masciantonio on guitars, and Clint Tustin on bass. They did a more recent live version at Legend MM MomoMetal's 21 birthday. This song was first premiere in 2018 while going on live tour and as a SuMetal's solo, the title was known as "Tattoo" but like i said later next year they came back with a choreo, the full formation and this unveiled title. Great reaction. The actual song only starts when the girls walk on stage - the instrumental intro is the added extra treat, you won't hear that on the album. They first played this song live in 2018, but we didn't know the song title (a set list had it listed as 'Tattoo') and it was a Su-metal solo. Only with the album release in 2019 did we learn the real title - and suddenly Su was not alone, Moa and the chosen Avenger were out there with her and performing this new and explosive choreo. You were already told this was the Kami Band of the West, the American musicians, and you've been told their names. They first appeared in 2019 to support BABYMETAL on the longer foreign tours, but they have been ever present since the BABYMETAL Begins concerts on 1st and 2nd April 2023. The Kami Band of the East last appeared at the BABYMETAL Returns concerts at the end of January 2023.

this is West Kamiband (USA). Amazing musicians. For me especially drummer Anthony Barone. If you want, you can find his video "Beneath the Massacre". Musically, it probably won't be for you, but you'll understand what a technical beast it is. I love the original Kamiband (Japan). The best session musicians from Japan were like older brothers at concerts for girls. I recommend for another SU-solo song with Kamiband intro. Title "Rondo of Nightmare" (with Intro Mischiefs of Metal Gods) | LIVE at Budokan Black Night). It was in 2014

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。Your pronunciation is correct. "Kagerou" is a word having 4 syllables like Ka-ge-ro-u [kɑ･gé･ro･ʊ]. Kami Band's solo play is amazing. They have supported our queens. Chris, CJ, Anthony and Clint (or Ryan sometimes) are knights. Su is singing about jealousy against someone using a metaphor of heat haze, "Kagerou". The hash emotion is shimmering from her inner blaze, and it seems to me that her emotion will not erupt but turn into magma deep down. It's scary😱 . This is the song featuring BM's heavy, dark and seductive side. The girls have grown up into ladies now without doubt.

Good reaction. I don't want to sound like a stan for Yuyoyuppe to much as it might bore people who are here for Babymetal. Though i'm sure some of them know i am a huge fan of Su, Koba and Babymetal as well. But you have responded so positively to 5 songs written by Yuyoyupe so far; Monochrome, From Dusk till Dawn, Rondo of Nightmare, Karate and now Kagerou, that i though i should point out the connection. The songwiter and producer Yuyoyuppe. His music is so powerfull, emotive and sublime you don't even need to know the specific lyrics. The music itself is part of the lyrics, especialy with a great singer like Su. I call him the Beethoven of Japanese songwriters as his work outside of Babymetal is both prolific and high quality and more than occasionaly epic. He developed a distinctive style on his own, but is a multi-genre writer who's quest is to learn from different styles and create genreless music, which is what i think you called From Dusk till Dawn, if i remember. Even his EDM is great and I don't even like EDM that much. I guess Japanese EDM is different. So genius producer, genius writers, genius singer, genius band, genius choreographer and dancers, mixed with pure originality and huge charisma = Babymetal.

West-Kami Band: Chris Kelly - Guitar CJ Masciantonio - Guitar Clint Tustin - Bass Anthony Barone - Drums They joined as session members in 2019 and today they are the "official" formation (they are not recognized as part of babymetal). I think I didn't see Tustin in the last festivals, I don't know if it was because of the schedule with other projects or if he walked away, if anyone knows anything I'd appreciate it.

He is touring with his band (I forget their name) as the guitarist (that is what he does normally, I don't know if he plays bass for anybody other than BABYMETAL). Ryan Neff stood in for him on some dates last year and has returned for all the recent performances this year.

Yep, this is the American band. Some of the more insufferable "bAbYmEtAl sHoUlD nEvEr cHaNgE aT aLL" fans who refuse to accept that it isn't 2014 any more have a real issue with them but they are clearly incredible musicians as you said. This is easily one of my favorite BM songs.

They are amazing but...gotta say I much preferred the sound and raw almost punk/jaziness they seemed to exude, and interactions - and of course the lack of masks but it is what it is. W. Kami are very good still

Yup, the West Kamis were recruited from Galactic Empire, a goofy metal tribute band who wear Star Wars villain-helmeted costumes & play John Williams music. Galactic Empire & Sabaton were BM's support acts for their 2018 Japan gigs, with the former evidently accepted the offer to become BM's new tour band since 2019. They are free to accept other work at other times though: I think guitarist CJ Masciantonio still records with Galactic Empire, while bassist Clint Tustin seems on the verge of leaving (he chose to be Erra's second guitarist as both bands toured across Europe last month).

I love this version (even though I think it may be from a few concerts?)- heard the MM one and they've kind of dropped whayt sounds like a little 5 bit chug just before SU starts to sing - and it's one of the bits that REALLY makes the track for me - I hope they put it back. Great reaction to what used to be my fav BM song (Monochrome now...) - I think I prefer the darker side of them :D

👍 👍 That was your first listen. I personally believe after hearing a few more times the cadence becomes secondary to the absolute vocal mastery of Suzuka's inflections and interpretations This is a song about a woman who suspects her lover is having an affair but begins to doubt her thoughts as "Crazy". But no matter the doubts linger. One of my favorites.

And yes that was the world class West Kami Band from the U.S. who have been so successful that they are pretty much the tour band for BABYMETAL currently). They are entirely devoted to the young ladies. Featuring 3 members from the metal group Galactic Empire (Anthony Barone is the best on the drums)
