Also, no nothing in the music video gives a clue to why Axel's video wife died. Yes, Axel and Elton John played this song together on some music awards show. Look it up! Lastly, at some time, you should listen to Elton John's song "Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding" from the "Yellow Brick Road" album. I can easily understand why Axel liked it because I do too.

The mini church was used in the film Silverado which they had transported to New Mexico where they could film the epic guitar solo by Slash in a "dust storm" which was being caused by a helicopter to get closeups of Slash who was terrified every time the helicopter was near him. Also the guitar he's using in the video used to belong to none other than Joe Perry of Aerosmith. When Joe found out, he asked Slash to sell it back to him but he wouldn't. Years later out of the goodness of his heart, Slash gave the guitar back to Joe as a surprise birthday gift.

Loved the reaction but i read through all the comments and no one mentions the original video. When it first aired on MTV during the reception when it starts to rain and everyone is running for cover the bride slips on a champagne bottle and crackes her head on a rock thats how she died. They determined back then it was to graphic for television an took it out of the vidio. Glad you enjoyed this song Dont Cry is another great one

Since you read into the story from Tracii Guns, (Hence Guns & Roses) you should look at “LA Guns” (Tracii Guns band after the split with Axl.) “The Ballad of Jayne, Over the Edge & It’s Over Now” are my favorites. Other suggestions: “Never Enough, S$X action or Kiss My Love Goodbye.”

There were, I think, three secret warm up shows before the beginning of the big tour for this pair of albums. I was at the one in L.A. The concert footage is, in part, from that show. This song, along with most of the 150 minutes of music on Use Your Illusion, is masterful. I listened to these albums non stop from the day they were released, all through 1992. When this video premiered on MTV, I was right there recording it. I had no idea what the video was about. I had only heard the song a hundred times. The video is so brilliant and masterfully directed. Epic in scope. It really set the bar for future videos but was never topped.

If you watch the wedding video look closely at the young woman’s face her expressions. There is distinct sadness that she’s walking down the aisle. There is distinct unsure look on her face when the rings are, and lastly, you see the sadness, no joy in her face when she is getting into the car to leave the wedding. Add it to the lyrics about hearts can change. This gives you a look into how unhappy the bride is. But she knows who she’s marrying but is not happy that she made that choice. As if she had known about all his infidelities and she thought that it would stop. Just like women believe if they have a baby with someone they’ll be able to change that person and they’ll have a better relationship. It’s a self delusional lie that many tell themselves. OK now we’re married. He won’t cheat on me anymore, we had a baby things will get better, etc.. I’m glad they didn’t show how she killed herself. Statistically women don’t kill themselves with guns they use poison. It doesn’t matter how someone dies or how they took their life. It’s the fact that they felt so alone and isolated that they felt that was their only solution. When this song came out, I made sure my daughter listened to it. She was in her early 20s and we all know how young people are that first puppy love to the oh my goodness, I think he’s the one!my daughter plays it for my granddaughter who is 24 like cautionary tale. Great breakdown, young man.

This came out in 1991, I believe the mv was in 92' , Cliff. At the time it was the longest video and the most expensive at $1.5mil! And the places they chose to film were where I grew up. @9:15, Yessir she dies on the wedding day, hence why he was taking the pills and drinking to be able to sleep, also having nightmares/flashbacks...but it is actually part of an unofficial trilogy. It's November Rain, Don't Cry and Estranged, but I don't recall the order of them sorry hun.❤ At the end it says, Based off the short story "Without You" by Del James...

But why is nobody surprised that the clip, which was filmed in one of the biggest churches with an incredible number of people (at least that's how it looks), suddenly becomes quite strange when Slash steps out of this huge cathedral to play his solo and the church is suddenly only the size of a toy church that might only fit 12 to 15 people? 😁
