OK, let me explain …Michael Jackson You can listen to at the cookout in front of family Prince have to take it in your room and listen to it way low on your speakers or earbuds… Prince has three songs on the Filthy 15 list… And that just scratches the surface😂 Prince is the reason we blush when we here the name Bambi because we know he's not talking about a deer…

One of the most innovative things about this song was that Prince removed the bass. That was unheard of. The story from one of his engineers at that time is that he did the song and it seemed like it was too much so he “unproduced” it and started taking items out. The last thing he took out was the bass and said to this engineer something like, “Ain’t nobody gonna believe I took out the bass.” His record label tried to get him to put it back in, but he refused, and the song became his first #1 and the biggest hit of 1984. That summer was all about this song and video. I hope you’ll continue on your Prince journey! 💜💜💜

Great reaction by the way. Prince was the master of wrapping lyrics in a bad ass beat while you're grooving you miss the innuendos.

The original lyrics were "this is what it sounds like, when love dies." Prince changed it to "when doves cry." That's why he was a genius.

This was the shorter 7" single / radio edit of the song. The full length version of the song is a MUST listen to!!! My favorite prince song is "Mountains", which was played during the closing credits of the movie "Under the Cherry Moon". While I will admit that I have never heard Prince's complete discography (which would be a huge undertaking), from the songs I have heard, "Mountains" is quite different. It also has a good official video. For whatever reason, reactors that do reactions to Prince songs seem to mostly ignore it... perhaps because of the fact that it is somewhat different.

Prince was extraordinarily talented and gifted. He could play a plethora of instruments (27), wrote/produced his own music, had incredible sex appeal, crazy good dance moves, exceptional vocal range, and all around over top creativity. 🔥🔥🔥✨💫💐 I adored MJ, but if I had to choose who is most talented, it would hands down be Prince.

This version cuts off the amazing solo at the end. When it comes to the Prince / KJ rivalry, I never felt there was a comparison. Prince is a multi-instrumentalist. That in itself sets him apart.

Prince actually has a massive variety of styles. And a great range of amazing musical and catchy songs. However, the whole issue of sex, romance and glamour is quite a common theme in his music. Im not complaining 😅

That rivalry between him an MJ never existed, people made it up. In the real world you can compare your self why Prince didn't care a F what people said about that. Compare: · MJ needed armies of producers, composers and musicians to write simple song (2 years for the album 'BAD'). He lip-sync a lot and you never will watch him playing an instrument. · Prince composed the music, the lyrics, recorded all the instruments, all the vocals and background vocals, mixed and produced everything in this song IN ONLY TWO DAYS; with the only external help of Peggy "Mac" McCreary. And in the last minute, Prince decided the song wouldn't have a bass... He always played live and you should watch him playing guitar, bass, drums or piano as he had dedicated one life to learn each of them. Try for guitar and bass: LA Forum Play That Funky Music/Hollywood Swinging/Fantastic Voyage Try for drums one of these: America official video live --- OR --- It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night For piano one of these: Piano medley Lovesexy Tour Dortmund --- OR --- Prince Piano Jazz Summertime. Peace!

Prince was definitely rated R and even X at times but we loved it!!😂😂 Also a lot of people tell reactors to start with his 1999 or Purple Rain albums. As a longtime fan of Prince I suggest you start at the beginning and start with the first song that made him a hit here in Detroit. It’s called Soft and Wet and came out in 1978 I believe. Look up his catalog and take it from there.😉💜

If you want to do another commercial success from Prince do "Little Red Corvette" next. The thing with Prince is that he did every genre to perfection...in fact he was a genre of his own! I could name at least 20 songs to check out but personally I like his live clips from his concerts best. So I suggest also going down that rabbit hole after you knock out some of his more popular stuff.

There's a song of his called The Ride. You should check it out and then watch 15 yr old Taj Farrant perform it at the 40th anniversary celebration for Prince and the release of Purple Rain. One of the estate managers asked him to play it and he did a fantastic job. I think he might have got a little flack from his fans because of the sexual innuendos. He now performs it and just sings the first verse and then just goes to town with his guitar solo. When I was at his Phoenix show, a member of Prince's backing band, New Power Generation, was there to watch his show. Taj has been accepted by Prince's fans and band. Prince would have loved Taj. Taj did get to hear some unreleased Prince music in the vault. Prince's music director Morris Hayes played on Taj's song Mumma Raised a Man on his album. Enjoy! You're going to be blown away like everyone else by Taj Farrant. It's really sad he didn't get a chance to meet Prince. The two of them performing together would have blown people's minds. Prince was one of the best guitar players. Taj has the capability to be the best. He's only 15 and look what he's doing! When you talk to him he's great but when he picks up a guitar and starts playing you realize you are in the presence of someone special. It's hard to explain you have to see him live to understand. I'm sure Prince had the same quality. "Parental Advisory" stickers only came into existence BECAUSE of Prince. 2 Live Crew got some notoriety from them as well, but it was Tipper Gore, Al Gore's wife, who started them based on hearing Prince "Darling Nikki" from hearing her daughter listening to it on the Purple Rain soundtrack. Well before Purple Rain, he had a slew of R-rated bangers.

I'm so happy you're listening to Prince! 💜I always liked them both, but as I've gotten older Prince is more my thing. He was so experimental and exceptional and weird - I hadn't experienced anything like him when he broke onto mainstream radio. I always looked at him as being similar to David Bowie - extremely prolific, multi-talented, multi-instrumentalists, brave, and committed to music. They also both clearly understood the role of persona and Art. And his charisma and performance ability - OFF the CHARTS! of course, I live in MN so I do have a lot pride for our homegrown son! 😁 I HIGHLY recommend "Kiss."

You should do “Little Red Corvette “ next , another big 80’s hit that captures the essence of him , after watching the “Purple Rain “ video, most reactors get it when they see Little Red Corvette . After that , you have a whole 70’s, 80’s 90’s , 00’s and 20’s worth of material from Prince to check out , as this was very successful but just a small chapter of his brilliance . No point in comparing Prince to MJ, Prince was a whole different monster, he was considered a modern Mozart. He could sing, dance , write music, produce , arrange, sing every track, play every instrument in the studio , and perform it live better than anyone. When you hear any song by Prince, most probably he played every single instrument , maybe except for horns and strings. Micheal performed and released music since his childhood , and Prince made up for that by producing more music than anyone else in his adult life.

Michael Jackson was the king of pop the best ever, He was a legend he was everything, The King of Pop, Prince was Rock,Pop,Jazz, Blues, genres, He wasn't a one-trick Pony. He was a band leader, He was a songwriter, He produced 38th albums,, He played multiple instruments, He was a dancer not good as Michael, when he passed away, a person that was really close to him that played in his band, Said he had enough music in that vault, that a person could put out an album a year for the next hundred years, I know it sounds crazy but I believe it. He wrote a song a day, He was a prolific writer, created the melodies The arrangements, He gave quite a few female a an opportunity that they wouldn't have got anywhere else to work with a master . John Blackwell with that Paisley Park when Prince passed he was paying his respect, He said Prince gave him an opportunity, to play in his band for 16 years and when he was talking he was tearing up, you could tell that he was grieving and he was also grateful.

His music is gonna cover happiness, sadness, vindication, love and hate., but all in a good way to experience. When doves cry was recorded and mixed in 2 days. All sounds on this song was done by 1 person. Oh and another little piece of music history is that he removed the bass from his final mix of the song. For your next song of Prince, may I recommend Sign O' The Times. He tells ya what was going on in the world in 1987. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l3alpXmFn7l4qtksi=L_TSN0TR7blXY7Xh

The funny thing about you saying Prince was more raunchy than MJ based on this song, is that this was Prince’s biggest commercial hit. When Doves Cry was the #1 song for all of 1984. Prince was definitely more R rated than Michael, but this song would not be my example of that. Songs like Erotic City, Gett Off, and Darlin’ Nikki are a better example of this.

Warning: “Darling Nikki “ is an R-rated performance. It should be kept in mind for anyone considering doing a reaction to it. NOT a family, friendly song! Matter fact, Darling Nikki was one of the filthy 15 (songs) that’s the PMRC used to justify the implementation of the then-new parental advisory stickers on albums and CDs, and remains in effect to this day. (Prince actually had two songs on the filthy 15. One was Darling Nikki, and the other was Sugar Walls, which he wrote and produced for one of his then-love interests, popular Scottish singer Sheena Easton.)

Prince had his raunchy side, this song is mild compared to some of his songs. I think a lot of that stemmed from his anger and ultimately his war with his record companies. I think it was his big "FU", like him saying"try to make money off this you greedy bastards". I also think that the war cost him a lot during the 1980's and 90's, at least until he got out from under the contracts that he hated. I don't really know much about it, except I do remember the whole name change and how he subsequently dropped off in regular radio rotation. Some of that I would say was by his own actions as he had to know his more risque releases would not get as much radio or MTV play, at least back then.

I think Prince is more rock pop and because he is a fantastic guitarist I wonder if Jimmy Page, the best guitarist ever in my opinion and founder of the Led Zeppelin group had the most influence on Prince. Jimmy Page and Led Zeppelin also had a lot of songs about sex. But if you look at the way Jimmy Page dressed in the mid 60's you will see a lot of lace, long over coats, crushed velvet and big hair like Prince wore 20 years later. Jimi Hendrix also dressed that way. And almost every top guitarist list, Jimmy Page comes in 2nd and Jimi Hendrix as #1 guitarist. And I would like to reiterate again Prince is an amazing guitarist.

No comparison. Prince was a complete entertainer, song writer of 1000's of songs both for himself and others. Prince could play, expertly 21 instruments, and has played every instrument on every song on some of his albums Price could act and dance as well as MJ. Prince was a complete innovator of a musical genre. NO comparison. As far as I know MJ sang and danced. I have seen them both in concert. MJ with the J5 and singularly. I've seen Prince 3 times in concert. No comparison and Princ'es vocal range was superior to MJ's People love comparing because they were both spectacular in their time and they looked. little bit alike.

There was no rivalry between Prince and Michael. They were totally different and Prince was waaay more talented. They were just both black young men who were the most successful so they were compared to one another

Why does one have to be ‘better’ so tired of artists not just being taken by their own measure with the only ‘comparison’ being to their own body of work in toto.

Prince was SO much sexier than Michael. Even in his clean songs and even before we found out things we didn't want to know about Michael. Prince was about 5'3" and it didn't matter. You make music like Prince and women (and men) fall at your feet. I don't trust adult humans who don't feel that pull in his music.

I stopped listening and watching anything Michael Jackson when I was 13 or so. It was the same stuff over and over. Even in his later years he still did the same stuff. He would come out on stage, freeze, tilt hat, grab crotch, lift leg, shake knee, slide around a little bit, freeze, pretend to be a robot, freeze, little pop and lock and then start lip syncing . No thanks. Thanks Michael for 'Off The Wall', 'Thriller', and 'Bad', but now you got to go, sheet starting getting weird and boring. I've always said Michael Jackson is for kids and Prince is for adults. I've never compared the two. Michael wasn't complicated and with Prince he never stayed the same, always evolving, musically, fashion, genre, new creative ideas, his mind never shut off, he continued to write new songs, stayed busy, you never knew what you were gunna get.
