Well, lyrics are important for the song so the idea is to be a bit reserved the first time she sings "on the last day of my life you're not going to be with me" as the release comes the second time she sings it after the reveal the season the other person isn't going to be there is that they're already dead. It's a song of grief where it's all muted until she can come to term with it.

Kinda cool how you noticed that song sounded like it was holding back until the last chorus. It kinda mirrors the story that's being told in the lyrics. The lyrics before the last chorus are "Say it out loud Raise your voice - that was what you said"

Something I've personally felt over the past years is that many producers focus on filling every gap of sound possible, but what I love about Yorushika is that they understand the power of silence and they use it intentionally a lot in almost every one of their songs, it's not that they're reserved or they're holding back, but they understand that building some momentum on the music so that everything about the song can be delivered more effectively

my fave song from yorushika is「だから僕は音楽を辞めた」That's Why I Gave Up on Music and「思想犯」Thought Crime i would say this song you reacted to is also up there for me, they just make really good songs in general
