Thank you so much for the wonderful reaction! ❤ The Japanese version of this song is called "Ikanaide" and was performed by Dimash as part of the 20th Tokyo Jazz Festival in an online format during the pandemic. He managed to convey the depth of pain from the inevitable loss of a loved one. This can be heard in every note of the singer and in the musical accompaniment. The words "don't go away" sound so shrill. Japanese poet Goro Matsui, the author of the lyrics of the song ”Ikanaide", tweeted: "A foreign singer performed the song "Ikanaide" in our native language! I've heard it performed by many singers, but he's the first one who performs this song so beautifully in Japanese." Goro Matsui also shared that he would be glad to hear some more songs performed by Dimash, which he also composed together with the author of the music and the first performer of "IKANAIDE" Koji Tamaki. Still one of my all-time favorite Dimash performances, complete with background story. Dimash did a more recent version, which he does in Japanese, under the title "Ikanaide"...just as beautiful. There is also a performance sung by Koji Tamaki, the composer of the song, that is also beautiful. Nice reaction, btw, as usual.

With his accent, don't forget that he didn't speak English at the time. He learned and sang all the English songs phonetically. Adagio is a really beautiful song❤️. A song that Lara Fabian (a Belgian-Canadian singer) has already sung and also written the lyrics for. Dimash has always been a great admirer of Lara. But Dimash takes this song to another level. Every time, I see this performance I forget to breathe and then burst into tears. The emotions that Dimash sends out with this performance literally hit me physically every time🤯. And you can see that I’m not the only one. There I love his outfit with his blue suit and white shoes. If you watch several videos of him, you will see that he often falls on his knees during many of his performances. So a Dear gave him knee pads as a gift. I don’t think he wore them on stage though. The fact that he can bring people to tears in a language not his own, and he learned the song in a week, is so amazing. He also sang the original Japanese version of this song in 2021. Ikanaide. I love both versions, although i do like Ikanaide more as it's in the language i can speak and understand. When he sings this live, I'm pretty sure he sings both versions. Koji Tamaki (original singer) has also sang the song in both languages.

While in China, Dimash was in great demand to be a guest on several other Chinese shows. He did sound tracks for several movies, tv dramas and even a video game. All of which are out standing. Thank you for using Gloria's videos. They add so much. If you continue to use them, you will see Dimash meet Jackie Chan. They later became good friends, and Dimash sings the OST for his latest movie.

First found Dimash with his 2017 SOS performance that opened this same annual competition of I Am Singer in the fall of 2017 thru a YT suggestion. Found this song shortly after. It became my favorite Dimash performance and remains so today. It is just simply a very beautiful song on it's own. Dimash was very worried before performing it so as not to let the Chinese ppl down who had accepted him with such love thru the show. It was very risky for him. Firstly, because of the short time in which he had to learn the sing phonetically. Secondly, it was a very well known song to his Mandarin speaking audience plus it was one that had a strong emotional connection with them. His fears were unwarranted and his performance blew them away. I love the emotional connection between Dimash and the audience as well as his fellow competitors. The peaks and valleys of the notes, rhythms and subtleties of the song couple so well with the talent of Dimash. The highs, though not reaching near his limits, are perfectly placed to emphasis the feeling and emotion of the song. It's a perfect balance that I can't say the same for in other performances where extreme highs are amazing but dont necessarily make for good music. I love Dimash but for me, this is his perfect song. Not one containing a D8. For him to deliver this level of performance under the pressure he was in shows true confident talent. He is simply the best. Notice the female competitor that remarks in the beginning of another video of this performance @ whether or not Dimash is wearing a shirt under his jacket. At @ 6:20 of this video, she is so overcome with emotions from hearing Dimash sing this song in her native Mandarin she has to hide her tears from the camera and faces the wall. A show official is tapping her shoulder to make sure she is ok. The backstory by Gloria Wu accentuates this song and gives it meaning. The translation of the lyrics to English though is extremely weak and oversimplified. There are better out there for those interested. Either way, Chinese to English is difficult and "losing something in the translation" unfortunately is a very real thing. Thank you for your heartfelt reaction. This one gets me every time as well. There`s something extra special in these Singer performances. I don`t know exactly what, but there`s definitely something special. Please do a double reaction of Daybreak. First, the one from I am singer with back story from the Gloria Wu channel with captions, then the Bastau concert version. It will be worth it. Just a little warning: the story and the way he performs the song will break your heart. Broke mine. Absolutely phenomenal performance and song. Brilliant. The Bastau version is one of the best live performances ever.

Did you see the girl in the back room had to turn away, I think because of her emotion. Why not listen to Ikenaide which is the same melody but different lyrics, before you carry on with the I Am Singer comp, It is very different but hauntingly beautiful still.

👉 That song was the 4. song in the competition. "The Singer 2017" was not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers and a mega-star was born overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood in front of his door. This song is very popular in China. The version based on a true story.. very touching: It is about Yoshiko Yamaguchi (*1920-2014), a Chinese-born Japanese actress during World War II. She hid her Japanese heritage under the name Li XIanglan and became famous in China. However, when the war was over and she revealed her identity, she was accused of being a spy. She was deported to Japan and longed for China. Ms. Yamaguchi did not return to China until many years as deputy environment minister in the Japanese parliament. (Gloria Wu corrected her video in the description) In 1993, Jacky Cheung adapted the Japanese song into Chinese Mandarin, calling it Late Autumn. The most famous interpretation In China (first performance at the Singer 2017) was that of Dimash Qudaibergen and it was his first time to sing in Chinese mandarin and is about autumn, farewell, sadness ... but also about accepting the unchangeable. This song brought Dimash the 'Best Foreign Singer' award at the Golden Melody Award 2017 (equivalent to the Grammy) in Hong Kong. It is not about her. She was a Japanese, China- born actress. When they found out she was Japanese, after WW2, she was deported to Japan, so asking her not to leave doesnt make sense. The song Ikanaide, was written in 1989, by Japanese poet Goro Matsui, with Koji Tamaki The Chinese took it and converted the words into Chinese. However Dimash can 10:02 sing it in both languages. See Ikanaide,done in his studio, for the Tokyo Jazz Festival bc he was in quarantine then IT is the most beautiful version, called by some a Master Class.
