This is the Constantine I hope to see in Mr. Gunn's DCU. I'd love Mr. Matt Ryan to come back, but most importantly, the tone of the character. Even when Constantine wins, he loses. He is not hopeful like Superman or even Batman. Let him be dark and work his magic.

The reason why this is darker than the rest of the movies is because the original Hellblazer comics (which was the title that introduced him) was from what’s called the Vertigo imprint. Vertigo’s stories were primarily for adults, and many of them - ESPECIALLY Hellblazer - dealt with EXTREMELY dark adult themes. Even this movie doesn’t fully capture the depravity of the demons (and humans) in the comics. They’re fantastic stories that I would wholeheartedly recommend even if you’re not a big comic reader. They not only hold up after several decades, but they still blow a lot of modern comics out of the water. And they have one of my favorite art styles in all of comics.

When Constantine says he’s a “right Bastard” he’s not lying. In the Injustice comics he pit Trigon (yes Raven’s dad) against a 5th dimensional imp with Batman and crew stuck in the middle just as a distraction so he could rescue someone from Hell (that he put there accidentally). Existence was almost erased but he didn’t care as long as he got what he needed done.

Do to that they each have their own interpretation of the transformers with some of the animes sequels to the American cartoons. If look up the wiki for them it’s wild what’s in what continuity era even comics/games.

Usually with good reason because, despite his best intentions, its always everyone else that pays the costs for his actions. The man will go to any lengths to accomplish his goals and the collateral he leaves behind him, while unintentional, is legendary.

Best part about Constantine is that he himself is responsible for his inciting incident. No mugger in crime ally, no divine decret, no exploding planet. Just a man who did something bad and suffers the consequences. But from that he learned! He is the magical equivalent of Batman. When he can prepare for a situation, he is unbeatable. Not because he has so much powers like Merlin, Zatana or Felix Faust, he is just smart and ruthless!

I fucking love Constantine. Matt Ryan has been doing an amazing job at portraying the character for over a decade too in both live action and animation. Love yall reactions as well to everything dc. Ok, first of all when you guys get to apokolips war eventually you will not say this universe is mid. And the reason why this movie wan't talked as much is just because some people didn't know this was a thing and didn't know it connected to the DCAMU. Also, Its not like the tomorrowverse is bad because it has some decent even great movies, its just even less connected than the DCAMU and we didn't have enough movies before we got to the crisis movies.

If you're ever in trouble deep enough to need John Constantine, he can probably help end the trouble, but the cost will be high enough you'll wonder if it was worth it. Last time we saw him, Batman came to ask for help with people having hallucinations and it ended up with John losing two friends (term used loosely), Ritchie and Jason, while leaving Swamp Thing in status unknown. At least this time we get the world premiere of Silly Billy's Sorta Stupid Kingdom Com (halo in the mid) Holy Water Based Lube - Strokin it for Christ TM! At last there's a happy ending!, even for John

Here's the thing: in the early 2000s, all of their movies were 100% hits. Basically perfect. But around the same time they did War there was a shake-up, and the executives wanted to make the movies more profitable. This led to a lot of the talent leaving during/ after War and Throne of Atlantis. Yeah, as badass as Wondy and Supes are in War? _Mid_ compared to Crisis on Two Earth's.

Constantine is such a cool character and Matt Ryan as Constantine is so perfect that hes practically the voice of the character in almost every DC media including the live action CW shows. I love the darker tone and graphic gothic visuals. I also like how John is willing to do his own No Way Home spell on Chas and himself to make sure to keep Chaz safe from him because of how much John hates himself. Btw Id suggest you guys dont need to watch all the Tomorrowverse movies since the majority of them are pretty mid and even bad, but if you guys want to check it out regardless than go for it, but be warned. I will say some of the best movies in the Tomorrowverse are probably Superman: Man of Tomorrow and Batman The Long Halloween Part 1 & 2. ​@@DXDragon38 to be fair manga rarely ever has resets cause they're stories designed to either have an ending or they're episodic and can go on for however long a mangaka feels like. That's why there's some manga that're way longer than one piece, one piece is planned to enter its last arc and actually end "soon" (5 to 10 years probably lmao) but still it has an ending in mind. Where as Golgo 13 is still on going and has 200+ volumes so far, but that works cause it's episodic. American superhero comics like Marvel and DC were basically like that originally but they both slowly made their own interconnected universes and they started to want actual continuity that made sense with all the characters included after ignoring it for so long at first. So it made all their histories confusing. It made sense when DC did their first couple resets for everything to make sense, but now I wish they would knock it off. It's unnecessary and annoying now ever since we got the annoying ass new 52. I think Marvel does their timeline stuff better. They've never had a full timeline reset or reboot. They've only had like 1 or 2 "software reboots" where nothing really changed except a few details like bringing back some characters or changing a handful of other characters a little bit. Mostly the ones no one really cares about anyways lol Otherwise the way they handel their tineline makes perfect sense to me. They just use a sliding timeline, so to explain why Frank Castle the Punisher isn't old as hell cause when he was first introduced I think he fought in Vietnam, now they say he w a in Afghanistan and they just change little aspects for stuff to make sense while keeping the character who they are still. Except for Captain America, cause he was frozen in ice so he gets to stay a WW2 veteran lmao Not to mention other than Marvel and DC there are a bunch of other American comics that are similar to manga in that they tell a full story from beginning to end and no timeline resets 😂 there's alot of cool shit in both worlds to check out brother 👍🏻

For context here about why the wife didn't want Constantine to "help" one of the first people Constantine ever tried to help was a little girl that he accidentally fed to a demon and damned to hell for all eternity. Constantine is into the OLD school black magic and, while there is no one better at him at using it to help people, he does tend to leave one hell of a pile of collateral in his wake.

The 1st law of Hellraiser is, at the end of the story, John's always worse off. Without any choice in the matter, he literally bends fate to the point he can defeat Trigon, but he can never catch a break. Karma for what he does, beyond what he chooses.

Yeah the Tomorrowverse is pretty divisive among fans, I can't say I'd look forward to it very much but you guys should watch whatever you want. I will say though you guys should def consider some of the original DCAU stuff. Batman the Animated Series, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, it's all great.

He's like the kevin conroy of john, but can do both live and animated. Je has one other animated film after apokalypse war but before superman: man of tomorrow.

Some DC animated movies that aren't part of the DCAMU that you guys need to watch are: Justice League Crisis on Two Earths, Batman/Superman Apocalypse, Batman/Superman Public Enemies, Batman Assault on Arkham, All Star Superman, Superman vs The Elite, Green Lantern First Flight, and Green Lantern Emerald Knights. You should also watch Batman Mask of the Phantasm and Batman Beyond Return of the Joker but I recommend you watch Batman Beyond before watching Return of the Joker
