Something pretty cool that they did during a few of their US concerts was invite dancers and performers from some of the local native nations to perform on stage with them. Music brings us all together.

There are recordings on KZbin of live performances in America, in which the indigenous people of North America also take part! The primal sound has become ingrained in human memory and is the same all over the world. We are all related and spiritually connected until the violent end of humanity.

I love that old Queen pic on your wall, as a Queen fan since 1975. Heilung hits me in a different way, but I've come to love them as much as Queen.

Think the origin of music was universal, you can hear Throatsinging in mongolia and in Australia by the Aboriginines too. The Song Trodlabundin by Eivor from the Faroer Islands, gives me at some parts of the song some Native American chanting too. Greetings from Germany. 🙂

It's more like a bowed lyre than a violin, it's called a taglharpa.

One of life's pleasures is when Maria Franz gets going. As for the cultural link, don't look west at the barrier of the Atlantic. Look east, over the Bering Strait and from there all the way across Eurasia.

You said, you felt connected to your ancestors, well, now you have to react to 'Hamrer Hippyer' from their 'Lifa Lotungard' performance, because... well you'll see 6min in...

The song had a couple of story elements. The bracteates were coins paid by the Romans to the German tribes not to attack them when travel through their lands. They often hed holes in the center so that they could be gathered like on a necklace. Anoana, believed to be a girl who was special being born during an eclipse. Like a shaman with a connection to nature. The music video demonstrates the cycle of life with Anoana. I would have loved to have seen this "ritual" live. Thank you for sharing your review!

Try the song ‘Norupo’ by Heilung, it will remind you even more of your ancestors. The worship and respect of nature and the nature gods was something that united all people in the past.

when it comes to nordic music, i prefer wardruna over heilung. the queen of nordic music is eivor. classically trained sopran with a masters degree in traditional nordic vocal techniques from the faroe islands. she also made music for the tv series the last kingfom and the computer game god of war. if you want to have insights into viking lifestyle, traditions and instruments - and of course excellent music - you need to watch the symphonic viking voyage. as one commenter said before, eivor is a force of nature. her performance of falling free live at the old theater in tórshavn is the best live performance of any artist i know. also the last kingdom main theme live at hammersmith apollo, í tokuni music video or ake me up live at rtt show her skills and versatility. she is one of a kind
