Can everyone please give Bisscute some support, she wanted to react to this song as her next reaction, she does know the history of the song as she was told afterwards, she just wanted to hear the song in her own way, there is no need to try and divert her as it is done now. Please just show her some love when the reaction starts, that’s all she wants, she is a fairly new reactor and is nervous as it is but these comments on here are making her concerned, there is no need for that at all

Honestly, the whole "you weren't ready" thing is a bit tired. I know the army means well but the backstory really isn't a prerequisite to being able to enjoy and appreciate the song. It adds some insight to it's importance at the time it was written and provides a clearer understanding of what it's really about but it's an amazing song just as a song without knowing anything about the history tied to it. That's not meant to be negativity towards the dedicated fans who want to help guide new listeners along the path. I'm just saying, if someone chooses to experience it all in their own way, let it go... they'll be fine.

Good call and agreed. It's not a requirement to have to know everything about this song too be able to enjoy it. It's not like Nightwish is going to throw you out of the concert if you haven't read the letter to Tarja. People need to relax with this stuff. It's her video, her channel, and I'm pretty sure she's allowed to listen to whatever the hell she wants to.

@@reppost I totally hate this behaviour. One the one hand they want "real first listening" but then they want on the other hand that they already know the song as if they have listened to it 100 times. And then there are simply also people like me, i'm german and 57 years old, who just treat vocals as another instrument. If a singer not sings really clear and understandable i mostly don't even understand the words, and then even if i understand the words i often don't get the meaning, and i don't listen to musik to interpret poetry like back in school 45 years ago. So in the end, even if i have for example listened to Ghost Love Score 1000 times, i still have no clue what it is really about, and i don't even care, i listen to the music, if i want a good story i read a book, and in german. And now i wait for people telling me i don't pay respect to Tuomas because i don't care about his lyrics or whatever else bullshit.

@@beldin2987 Well that's not.really what I was saying, the lyrics/story being told do matter to me. But I agree that it's ok for everybody to enjoy music in their own way. I was in no way trying to drum up hate for those who are enthusiastic about a band and want.others to understand what they love about it. Recommending listening orders or suggesting research into a song is great, have at it. What bothers me is those who feel the need to scold anybody who doesn't follow their instructions. It's not a majority and a lot of it is probably just "me too" stuff where someone saw it in a comment section and wants to be the one doing.the scolding. It's just not necessary. Guide, recommend, explain... and then move on if they choose to do otherwise.

Gabriels list is an incredible guide, but it is still up to the reviewer to choose their own path on their Nightwish journey. We should all support them on that, keeping it positive and encouraging, especially for new reviewers. The important thing is they continue the experience because of the positive response and support from the Nightwish army.

Hi Bisscute, great reaction to a great song. ❤ There are people who will be disappointed that you didn't know the story of this song and why ot was composed in the first place. Don't worry about that! Well, there is no short version but I'll do my best to make one. In 2005 the band fired their 1st singer due to a number of disagreements between her and the keyboard player, Tuomas. Of course the band was huge at this time and when word got out about her dismissal, the world was against Tuomas. This is the part they sing, "I cannot cry cos the shoulder cries more. I cannot die, I, a whore for the cold world." Tuomas took the blame very hard from the fans and the media who blamed him for what happened. He felt he wanted to kill himself but decided not to and do it in this song instead. In the end... when you heard the heartbeat, it was HIS heart stopping. He was in very deep depression and didn't know what to do so he had a conversation with his mother. Some of the conversation is highlighted on the last part of the song. At the end they are all sitting because they are showing a moment of respect for the "dead" songwriter. Ok, so that was my short version. As I said, many will be disappointed so pay no mind to those comments. They seem to want the listener to follow a specific path and do their band research and some do that... Some do it their way, like you. If you wanted to react to the song in general and enjoy the music, then awesome reaction and comments. Thank you! 😊❤🤘🤘

The backstory to this is epic sadness. Suicide written in a song instead of doing it. I ain’t mad at you not knowing first. Although I would love to have seen you learn The Who’s and the what’s of NW before you went for the hardest one they preformed. But I forgive you! Floor and the guys WILL NOT play this anymore bc Tuomas isn’t in the same dark place he once was. I can’t watch beyond the intro or my new makeup will be RUINED! Gotta go! Fun reaction! Without this song, I would not be here today! I had a "The Poet and the Pendulum" moment in 2019 where I lost everything due to illness. My friends, my house, my car, my career, my studies... everything! I lost a lot of weight and got really weak (58kg when my normal is 72kg). I was faced with ending my life or I could hitchhike back to my home country of Switzerland (roughly 2000km), homeless and penniless, and start anew and this song kept me going to the right path. It remind me that I had a life and no matter how empty and it worthless it felt, it was and is worth living and that I was not damaged goods and that my potential was still with me. Part of my problem that led me here was that I suffer from PTSD and CPTSD and kept going untreated and unmedicated working and studying until I burned out and got really sick. Now, I'm getting help and getting better every day. I'm currently waiting for a decision regarding my disability towards my anxiety and other still present health issues. I still listen to it sometimes but despite being a song I love, it sends me through a rollercoaster of emotions and triggers my anxiety, both for what I feel for Nightwish and for what Tuomas and the guys went through and for my own story. Perks of being an HSP, I guess! Thank you for your reaction! Thank you for your channel!

Frankly this almost sacred reverence for 'Poet and the pendulum' is a bit, well.... silly. I stumbled on the song a few years back without knowng diddlysquat and thought it was an unusually complex, deep , thoughtful and dark composition...learning the story afterwards, just added significance and layer of emotion. Bisscute does a good , respectful, job. Enjoyed the reaction, probably more than many of the painstakingly researched efforts. How many people are urged to study the backstory of, say, 'Let it be'? I rest my (feeble) case..;)

Like you, I stumbled across "Poet and the Pendulum" about 3 hours after hearing "Ghost Love Score!". Now...I have to turn on " Captions"....as my left ear, besides the severe tinnitus, hears next to nothing! The noise is so loud it effects both ears. So I have bluetooth, surround sound headphones, so I can even hear anything! So, I figured it out pretty fast...but still didn't know the back story! Which didn't take anything away from the song!

I totally agree. I learned of the back story long after first hearing and loving this song. The lyrics and tone struck a chord with me and it was very relatable for me personally. Then reading the history I kind of got irritated because it sounds so overdramatic and ridiculous. Still to this day I don't understand the "raped, sounds of gun, screaming every night" bit. I'd say the bigger tragedy than kicking Tarja out and dealing with the whole situation was hiring Annette who was in my opinion a bad fit vocally and probably not ready to be in that big of a band at the time. For the record, I'm really not dumping on her as a singer but there's pretty much nothing that she did in NW that lived up to Tarja or wasn't done better by Floor.

Hello Bisscute. The song "The Poet and the Pendulum" is a 13 Minute journey through the mind and turmoil of Tuomas Holopainen after the year 2005. It was in that year the band parted with their long-time singer Tarja Turunen and had a personal falling out with her. The pain of the separation was big on both sides, and shown in this song. There is guilt for what happened, there is the responsibility that the band and Holopainen had to show towards the fans,. It was the End of an Era for them, and reason for Holopainen being lost as described in these lyrics. We can only of course to a certain degree suppose how much of these are truly Holopainen's feelings, wishes and pains - but we do know that the lyrics of Nightwish have been up to then very personal. Other songs on the album also digest this separation and falling out of the members with Turunen. However personal and "real" these thoughts are, I feel like this song definitely takes us not only on a journey with Holopainen but also into ourselves. The music underlines the emotional gravity of the song extremely well. And I believe a lot of people can actually relate to a sense of guilt and being overwhelmed that all they desired for is the safety of home and innocence. While being personal, the song can still ring true to it's listener. That's a quality Nighwish possesses in many, many more songs. The emotional journey is one we can all share and very few bands know how to put that journey into song and especially into sound as well as Nightwish does. The band remains through all it's shores and Oceans, one of my main favourites and I hold special place for the band in my musical heart. I hope you have enjoyed reading my analysis and share some of my thoughts. If you do have any comments, please feel free to let me know. And remember the beauty of interpretation is that it is subjective; we can see all and feel different things in the same song and continue to love it endlessly. Thanks for another great reaction to another great song. I love your channel. This is an extremely emotional song, but you don't necessarily need to know the backstory in order to enjoy it. I had heard it hundreds of times before I knew what it was about😕 In particular, I love how Tuomas borrowed ideas from "The Pit and The Pendulum", a short story written in 1842 by Edgar Allan Poe. The story deals with the psychological torment of a prisoner in the Spanish Inquisition who is publicly tortured and executed for opposing the Catholic Church. He finds himself in a dark room full of rats with slippery sloped floors leading to a Pit and a swinging Pendulum overhead. The Pit signifies Death, the Pendulum represents Time and the sloped floors, rats and darkness symbolise Fear. The protagonist of the story opposed the Catholic Church as he was angry with God for taking away his birth mother, adopted mother and wife with plague and disease. I wonder if Toumas's anguish was caused NOT because he fired Tarja (the original singer) from the band, but because he felt publicly tortured and judged by his so-called fans for doing it the way he did. I believe the score was arranged into 5 separate acts to represent the 5 stages of grieving. Greetings from England 🏴

Singer's Floor Jansen, her stage presence is mighty and fierce, her voice (for lack of better wording) divine. She's called the Valkyrie of Metal for a reason. Marko Hietala's singing (that's the base player with the marvelous white hair n beard) just acompanies it so well, their playing on stage always reminds me a little of this 'angel and devil on your shoulder' thingy from cartoons.

Great to see a new member of the army! Nightwish is one hell of a ride with some of the best live performances ever put to video. To answer a couple of your questions. Yes Floor is tall (183cm) and she's also the Metal Queen/Valkyrie/Goddess. The band's third vocalist, a powerhouse of a singer with unrivalled technique and stage charisma, she also happens to be a really modest, gentle down to earth person in real life. Empuu the guitarist is the grinning munchkin who strolls around the stage is not only a superb guitarist but the heart and soul of the band. He is always interacting with the audience and with the band... when he's not pranking them. Toumas is the keyboardist/founder/composer/lyricist and genius of the band. Otherwise known as the Metal Mozart. Marko here on bass is a fantastic singer in his own right, sadly he left the band last year. Hopefully he'll be back. The drummer is Kai, their second drummer (although Jukka the original drummer in Ghost Love Score still works with the band behind the scenes.) Kai is one of the worlds top drummers, Nightwish stuff is quite easy for him but he never gives less than 100% Troy (not seen here) is a English multi-instrumentalist and can play pretty much anything. He's mainly known for the Irish bagpipes and every kind of Irish whistle and flute that exists, he also sings. Troy isn't in all songs but he plays a lot more now Marko has left as he is now Floor's backup singer in the band. The replacement bassist is now Jukka from Wintersun, which just happens to be Kai the drummers other band. Every single member are masters at their craft and all of them are known as being gentle and kind down to earth people with no egos that love what they do. There's no other band like Nightwish and live they are out of this world.

The short version of the story. Floor is their 3rd lead singer. There was some drama surrounding the departure of the previous singers. Some fans of those women were blamed Tuomas (the keyboardist/composer/band leader) and they gave him a lot of grief for it. He got hate mail and was made to feel like a failed leader who started to doubt himself. This song is written by him, expressing his emotional journey into deep depression and eventually coming out with the love and support of family, friends, and fans. Other songs like 'Master, Passion, Greed' and 'Bye, Bye, Beautiful' also deal with the drama of having to replace a lead due to attitude problems. The Wacken 2013 festival concert was Floor's introduction to most Nightwish fans. You can tell by their reactions that most fans absolutely love her.

How talented are you! Yes. I've heard her sing spanish, english, dutch, finnish, latin and german. I've heard her sing metal, rock, opera, pop, musical and country. I've heard her hold a full-on D6 for 8 seconds and I've heard her do deathgrowls. As some people say, most singers sing what they can. Floor sings what she wants. But the thing about her is, she's no diva. Everything she does is in service to the art, in service to the song. So she can sing lead, but is perfectly willing and able to sing backup too, to let someone else shine. Floor wasn't the voice in the beginning. She could sing that, but the voice was a boy soprano, I think his name is Guy Elliott? They left him in on purpose even though Floor could probably sing his part, because 'a boy's innocence' is a huge theme in Nightwish.

And for most of them the backstory = that pathetic open letter. It will not do any good to read that (at least if you believe it). There is no way any new fan can understand how it all felt back in the days, and that letter doesn't help people to understand why so many fans turned against Tuomas, when they fired Tarja. Tarja was our Queen, just like Floor is for new fans. You can think how you would feel, if the guys would publish an open letter, where they accuse Floor.

I've actually heard and listened to everything about what happened back then -- and all I can say is, Tarja brought what happened on herself. When she makes it a point to isolate herself, cancel performances, and in general be a crappy person, how anyone would think it's anyone's fault but the person who is doing what they're doing, is beyond me. In addition to this, Tuomas was the _last_ person to sign the Open Letter. He was the one who thought Tarja would change. The problem is, by the time everything came out, the damage she did was irreversible. Further, I have never seen any evidence to indicate that what the band said in the Open Letter wasn't true. The question most old-school fans, the die-hard Tarja-ites, refuse to answer is, what motivations would any of the band have to lie? Especially if she, Tarja, was the one doing what the band alleged? In the interviews I saw from that time, I never saw any true body language indicating remorse from Tarja. I saw tears, heard a wobbly voice, but never once heard an actual apology from her. Yet old-school fans simply overlook what Tarja put the band through, saying the _band_ was in the wrong, when they weren't. Tarja, at that time, was a toxic individual -- and the band had to deal with it. The point is, the Open Letter wasn't "pathetic," because most bands would just change lead vocalists without an explanation. At least Nightwish offered an honest explanation about what happened, and given what Tuomas went through, the anger directed at him was unjustified. As for Floor getting a similar "Open Letter," I don't see that happening, because of Floor's disposition. She's never once isolated herself from the band the way Tarja did. I would find it very, very remote, as a possibility, if Floor ever did the same things that Tarja did, and deserved a letter in the process.
@kammurabi23132 жыл бұрын
Voice in the beginning was a soloist of a boy's choir and he was on the album version. Interesting difference is Floor takes one part later in this song which on the album was the boy's part again. In the past they used to cut off a functional male body part before puberty (castrato) so that he could continue having this soprano voice throughout adulthood but this practice is somewhat frowned upon now. I know I would certainly frown upon it if they come at me with the knife. Nightwish is from Finland except Floor Jansen who is Dutch and Troy, who you haven't seen yet, is from U.K. You can just say they are international like the Olympics of music. if you want. Yes there is a backstory to this particular song but it isn't even necessary to do a deep dive on that while you are just starting out anyway. Try Romanticide from Wacken 2013 or Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean from Buenos Aires 2018 for more different examples of what this band can do. Picking songs at random also works.

Bisscute, this is a wonderful reaction - honest, intelligent and well articulated. The guitarist moving so freely around the stage does so because he can. This is Emppu and he is a fun character in the band. The others are more or less fixed in their positions because of their instruments. Tuomas on keyboards can't go anywhere and obviously the drummer, Kai, has to stay where he is. Marco, the bass player often moves around a lot too if he doesn't have a singing part which requires him to stay near a microphone stand. He and Empuu are often criss-crossing the stage in opposite directions in other songs. The fans on both sides of the stage want to see and interact with them so they move. Troy, who plays the Irish bagpipes - called Uillean Pipes (pronounced ill-en) as well as a series of large and small whistles, guitars and the Irish bouzouki also tends to stay in one spot because of the variety of instruments he has at hand and because he sings as well and needs a microphone. You will see him in "The Greatest show on Earth" playing guitar at the beginning using something called an eBow (electronic bow) which creates a kind of violin or cello sound. I look forward to your future reactions!

vocalist : F L O O R J A N S E N ( pronounce Yan-sen) You heard maybe the most difficult Nightwish song as it is full of backstory and meanings that are important to the group and it s fan base. And you reacted greatly. With your own way. don t bother us, we are soo much used to react in our own way with this song that s it s hard for us to accept a different point of vue. Don t bother all that , we love your reaction, we just need time )))) go on the good job ! (as Floor at the end : Thank you)

Hey Bisscute! Just discovered you like a couple days ago and I'm going deep into the rabbit hole of your channel. Glad (but no surprised) you loved Nightwish, I discovered them en 2020and its my favorite band ever, Floor, Marko, Tuomas and the rest are just incredible, talented and awesome musicians and people, and this song is for me what defines them from a great band, to a legend one. You didnt need to know the backstory of the song to appreciate it, just the musical aspect and the experience while you listen it its great on its own, you will have a lot of time to rediscover it over and over. Came for Nightwish, already suscribed because you are so cool and your reactions are great!

Dont be tooo jealous of Floors singing quality. She is not only absurdly talented but also worked many, many years to come to the level of skill she has. And if you would watch some interviews with her especially in the time from 2013-2015... you will find how much you want her to come to this band and how this was maybe even some sort of destiniy (although I am usually a deeply naturalistic guy). She had a depressive burn-out period for almost a year... just before joining the band in the end of 2012. And she made it although she was unsure but just had no time at all to think what she is actually doing when she was asked to join the band who was right on tour and lost the former singer. I watched a tv show with her from 2015 or 2016 in the dutch television where she met old mates and was joined by the tv show host on a huge concert of Nightwish in Finland (the founders of Nightwish are finnish - Floor is dutch). Her parents also were there at the concert and part of the little documentary. And when Floor saw her parents being proud of her she just started crying cause she finally found her place in life. She is really a very nice person - and she is one of those people you really wish just all the best in life. You can also just check out her own youtube channel where she sometimes on friday makes little faq videos. Of course we all want to have such a talent, such a luck, such a stamina over so many years to keep on track and in the end such a success and such a well deserved status. Most of us dont. I surely dont. But thats life. And its OK. Whenever I see someone like these people doing what they do best and feel the joy of their masterful craftmenship... I cannot other but just be happy to be alive and have the possibility to witness such musical beauty. Btw: Dont be too angry with the angry folks who are a bit too deep into what should be "right" as an approach to get to know this band. There is of course no right and wrong. Try to go on find YOUR way and most folks in audience will appreciate that you are very honest. Sometimes I noticed that you tried to "perform" a bit in the reaction. But most time... it was obvious that you just were in your deep emotions while listening. The strongest suggestion I can make: Try to go on exactly this way. Just be yourself. Thats the point of "good" reactions. See honest emotions. Sometimes when the high vocals of Floor could be heared your eyes had such a nice glance and it looked so nice when you put your hands on your face... you were just cherishing the music deep within. THIS is what makes a good reaction in my opinion. Not doing a "right way". So just accept that there are always many people in the world who think a different way should be walked and sometimes they get mad and angry and crazy. But stay yourself. You are a beautiful young lady... if you go on with your channel and do regularly reactions to any kind of music I am sure you will find "your" audience. And maybe... I will be one of the weirdos who is going to stay :-D Wish you all the best :)

When it comes to Nightwish you are doing it right don't listen to haters or trolls. First you react,to the song as it is, as you hear it. Then you look up the background of the song to really understand what the song is about. Give this young lady a break she is just learning what Nightwish is all about. Keep up the Nightwish reviews I enjoy watching them through new eyes. By the way when Tuomas starts to sing it kills me everytime, always get tears in my eyes.

Welcome to the Nightwish family. This is one, if not the most humble band I have ever seen. Our Queen Floor, is a beautiful, very talented, and gracious lady. I have subscribed and hope that you will embark in the Nightwish journey. The band is from Finland. Floor Jansen (pronounced Yansen) is from the Netherlands, and Troy ( not present in this song) is from the U.K. Greetings from Alabama 😎

This was a great reaction! I really enjoyed this video! subscribed :) I’m looking forward to more Nightwish because I want to follow your journey with them! Poet and The Pendulum is one of my favorite songs from Nightwish. In terms of both story and music. The song also makes it clear that Nightwish is not just music but also an experience. Feeling, emotional state.

This is the most heart breaking song you could have picked. There are others, Tuomas seems to have suffered a lot, but gladly there are also a lot of exciting or just uplifting songs too. Tuomas, the keyboard guy, is not just a songwriter, he is a composer. Nightwish is not a free styling band but like an orchestra, performing masterpieces. (not all times, but you probably got the point.) Some Nightwish suggestions: (please never feel obligated) Wacken Open Air 2013 (Official Live Video) - Storytime - Song Of Myself - Ghost River - Romanticide Buenos Aires - I Want My Tears back (party time) The Nightwish tribute on Eugene M. Shoemaker, the first man buried on the moon: - Shoemaker (with lyrics) 😅At first I wanted to suggest some other bands, like Rammstein (Du Hast - Live in Paris) but luckily I checked your channel before I did 😬 😂. I liked what I found there! Subscribed.

Yes, there is a sad real story of a person of the band connected with this song. No, you don't have to know it in detail to appreciate what you get musically and visually with this performance. Please don't let anyone talk you into anything! You've chosen an absolute masterpiece, which can easily be mind-blowing with its complexity, as the next stop on your Nightwish journey, and you've conveyed your impressions of it excellently. Better than many others who have researched the story before, imo. I really enjoyed it, and I really hope that you don't let rash comments spoil your fun on this journey, because Nightwish has so much more really great stuff to offer. This song has been altered twice. In the studio recording with Anette, the Pacific part (Floor's first "angel voice") is sung by the boy at the beginning of the song, reinforced by his choir. Anette has also sung it live without them. The last minute is sung in both versions again the boy. Floor does that part too. For this vocal she needs some reverb to work, which she otherwise doesn't use. According to her Q&A she is 2.60m tall. The question annoys her, but it is the most frequently asked search query on Google. She's almost as tall as the average Dutch man, 1.83m - without the high heels she likes to wear. That's why she's the tallest on the band photo. The thing with the hair is a windmill, or headbanging. Her voice has a range of 3.5 octaves. And others sing what they can, she sings what she wants. Emppu likes to walk around and touch the others from time to time. He probably wants to be with everyone at the same time.

hey Bisscute . to start with 2nd nice response to nightwish . if you see any song from this group of friends for the first time, we/me can see it too. Giving a real response is more important than knowing what the story is about, yes it might have helped but it does not affect the feeling you have when you hear something that is given from the heart. the story is written and performed from the composer's point of view and each listener can give his/her own interpretation to what he/she hears, because there is not a single fan here who can and may say that they know what Tuomas meant by it, that is only up to Tuomas . I look for good and fine insight into what you feel. take care .

The name of this Gorgeos woman is Floor Jansen .She is Dutch, and her scene presence is outstanding. She looks like some warrior Goddess,or Viking Warrior Lady... As I know , she is the third singer in the group. My oppinion is that she is the best, I've listened also the previous one, she is also outstanding. You can see in every live performance how the public is spelling her name - JAN-SEN , JAN-SEN , JAN-SEN Her singing is out of this world, gives me chills everytime Again, nice reaction Bisscute

Floor Jansen! Great reaction again. I love the refreshing 'dive into it'. Your last reaction of Nightwish ended before you were ready and proceeded into 'the poet and the pendulum'. You did a very observant reaction to this song 👍. The name of the singer is... Floor Jansen. She's also a vocal coach. The opening melody you heard was a you boy not Floor singing. I believe this song is about their first ever Singer...Tarja and the cofounder of Nightwish. They had to part ways with her. Tarja is absolutely awesome 👌👌🤟🤟 you gotta check out her vocals as well. Especially the song ...The phantom of the Opera by Nighwish. 👍👍🤟🤟. And by the way...they are a Finnish Symphonic Metal Band. But floor Jensen is Dutch. She's married to the drummer of the band called... SABATON a swedish power metal band. Those guys are awesome 👍👍. You should definitely check them out and react to their songs. Thank you so much... Guys, don't judge the cover of the book. True masterpiece can withstand a test named "listening by unawared person". You know Amanda Webster? She discovered Nightwish from this song. And her reaction was one of the most interesting. UPD: Well, this reaction was... not great, not terrible. You definitely enjoyed the music, but haven't caught emotions and ideas behind it well enough. Will be useful to read the backstory so thoughtfully provided you by Nightwish Army, and re-listen this song off camera as many times as you want to. This song will become better every time, I guarantee.
@ytcag20072 жыл бұрын
Keep in mind that Amanda is a suicide survivor..... So there is an obvious reason why she picked this song and it's clear she does her research because she also reacted to "Fade to Black" by Metallica which is also about a character in the song contemplating suicide. Yes, Amanda has done hundreds of reactions but there is a "topic" we're treadin on here.

Tuomas Holapainen, the keyboard guy, and the composer of 99% if all NW songs, is actually commiting suicide in this song, its written about a dark period in hes life, where dark thoughts was taking over, so he decided to do it in this song, instead of for real, well something i think Tuomas never would do thankfully. The guys go and chit chat with Tuomas in this song, to check if he is alright, as its a personal song to him, very cool.. Great reaction, im getting kind of hooked on your channel, i proberly have to watch everything you make..lol Maybe when you are further ahead in the NW road, you go back to this song, cause this is a important song in the NW catalog, with a backstory..

Great reaction Bisscute. A little knowledge is considered a dangerous thing but the Nightwish Army don't tend to send the boys round to those enthusiastic about the performances. Guy Elliot, a boy soprano performs the opening vocal. On the album other high operatic parts, including the vocalisation at the end that Floor does here, are also performed by a boy soprano. Emppu, the guitarist, is always walking around because he has a fear that the stickiness of the stage will trap him in position, like an insect in a Venus Fly Trap. By keeping mobile, he avoids this. Of course it is just an irrational fear, but, whatever keeps him happy is fine by me.

Don't let ppl get to you...keep doing your great reactions! You should have a comment from your 1st reaction from Gabriel...it has a full band bio and song links...check that out!

great reaction little one, WarQueen....yes, Angel Yes, she will also enchant you, or maybe bring tears, and on occasions there may be a demon appear also, our Goddess is all these things, it takes all of them to create what is NightWish, they do not do songs, they do stories, experiences, journeys. There is quite a story behind this song which helps explain it better, perhaps later you will check it out, but is up to you. Just remember NightWish has been around since 1996, and they have had 3 singers, all are talented, this is Floor, the third and current singer, if you follow Gabriel's list it helps, but it is up to you. NightWish is best seen live, there are no bad songs. Fun song...Storytime, heavy songs Romanticide, Ghost River, Song of Myself,.....enjoy

Hello Bisscute. I have some info on Floor Jansen for you here. She is married to Hannes Van Dahl, drummer of the Swedish power metal band Sabaton. Together they have a daughter. ( Freja ) Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 4 octaves (Eb2 to F6). Re-singing style ranges from opera to screams and grunts. She usually sings in English, in addition she has also sung songs in Dutch, German, Spanish, Finnish, Latin, Italian and Swedish. Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg with classmates Jacqueline Govaert and Danny Vera, where she graduated in 2003. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016. From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour. On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. Nightwish's second studio album with Jansen as front singer, Human. :II: Nature., was released in April 2020. Greetings from the Netherlands.

To be fair, Biss had 502 comments on GLS. She read Gabriels' introduction to NW, but the addition, with the suggestion to research the reason for the song, was not read. THAT was the only warning she had concerning Poet...so give the kid a break. Cancel Culture has no place with reactions to NW songs. We know she really likes the band, so suck it up, and let's enjoy her trip down the rabbit hole. I read every comment she reacted to and not one was about Poet. I read countless others and....no Poet Warning there either. Show some love gang, and let's get back to the Band we love.

If you look closely, the girders above the stage (that carry the lights and such) slowly fold down throughout the piece, "caging" the band. They move back up during the outro.
