The vehicle they used was a boarding torpedo that vaporizes the ship's hull as it penetrates into it. The armor they wear is a fictional material called ceramite, a bonded ceramic that is stronger, and lighter than steel. The only known exact speed of an astartes at a full sprint is between 84-87kph, so a little more than 50 miles per hour. The beak-shaped helmet is called Corvus pattern armor, and has more sensors in the beak portion for infiltration, and stealth. Even an Inquisitor will be immediately killed if possession is imminent, plus he was already dead as the warp was frying his brain out. Hope the answers help.

Yeah that's a Caestus Assault Ram, which can hold two squads of Astartes and is equipped with twin-linked Magna Meltas: essentially a gigantic microwave gun that literally melts a hole in the outer hull of a ship enough so that the craft can punch through to the inner decks to disgorge its deadly payload. It's named after the Roman armored glove that gladiators would wear in the arena.

12:50 What you saw, was more likely than not the orb possessing the psyker. Psykers are living conduits to the Warp, able to alter the very fabric of reality if their will is strong enough. Downsides are your soul shines like a beacon in the Warp, and there are... Things, there that would love to make your soul a snack and wear your body like a meatsuit. That's the best case scenario. Worst case? The energies channelled rip your body apart and you turn into an open doorway to the Warp for said soul-snacking Thing and it's buddies to pour out into the Material Plane and rip reality a new asshole. Honestly, the Astartes punching his head off and then another emptying a bolter into his corpse would be considerted _underkill_ . When you're dealing with the Warp, there is _no such thing_ as going overboard.

I'll use this post to answer some of your lore question and provide some fun facts. 1. What is their armor made of? Space Marine Power armor comes in multiple grades and densities and designs, but in general are composed of shaped adamantium(strongest metal known to the imperium) and plasteel plates(combo of plastic and steel), encased in a ceramite ablative layer. Ceramite I assume is derived from Military Grade Ceramic Plates which is what we plate tanks with in modern day. 12:37 i THINK those are the Primarchs/sons of the Emperor but i could be wrong. That flashes thru that tech priests mind because the entitty is SCANNING his mind trying to figure out what organisms it is even encountering. And it derived that the Space Marines are all created at least partially by the augmented gene seeds of the primarchs passed down for over 10k years now. It was trying to understand it's enemy and why it was so strong I think. And it found it's answer in that little image of those ENORMOUS Primarchs. What happened in that scene was the Orb entity on the ship the Astartes boarded was being psychically communicated with by that Techpriest - it realized I THINK that the Orb entity that was on the ship the Astartes came from where the Tech priest was and that commanding officer was with the Cape draped over one side, was betraying it by being psychically connected to that Tech Priest ( likely how the Space Marines tracked that ship of heretics in the first place ). And it sent a psychic pulse that burst the organism inside out the bottom of it's Orb body or w/e. I THINK. I don't think the entities are ever actually named or have a history of lore in the 40k universe, although they resemble Umbra which are spherical creatures that can control shadows and have to be overwhelmed with bright lights positioned so that they have no shadows to turn into appendages that can rip and slice you open, they can use the shadows your own body casts on itself to tear you to pieces - BUT they didn't behave like Umbra. But the guts of an Umbra are basically just a goop much like what fell out of the one that burst open - i dont think they are that tho. We aren't sure EXACTLY where that Marine was warped to, but likely it's IN the warp given that it's got tons of giant humanoid skeletons, either that or it's some distant graveyard planet full of a dead species of giants. My bet would be that those things came from the warp as they had humans under their mind control fighting against Space Marines that any normal human wouldn't even try to engage like that because they know they'd just be destroyed. You only really see heretics under the influence of some form of Chaos entity do that. Although not always. Fun fact real quick: The smallest caliber round the Bolter Rifle's use the space marines carry is a .75 explosive tipped round. All bolters btw fire similar rounds you got a look at them as the psykers stopped them in mid air - notice the mini rockets on the back, that is to increase the speed and thus the damage of the round - they activate immediately after the rounds are discharged from the bolters. Those men were being sent to their deaths by psykers working for or being controlled by that entity most likely - or imprisoning it in that vault likely for some purpose of using it to help the construct more of their semi cybernetic kind, as they were weaving a giant one that was incomplete that we saw. A synthetic organism, sentient, but mostly synthetic it seems at first glance. hope that helps!

If you listen very carefully when the Inquisitor (the priest in red) is eavesdropping on the big ball, you can hear the conversation. The big ball in the foreground, and the tiny one flashing in the distance like a star, shows that it's a conversation between the ball captive on the Space Marine ship and the ball on the ship getting raided by our bois. It's telling the unchained ball to get ready and that "YOU MUST TAKE THEM". Then the Inquisitor gets overtaken and possessed by the ball, and every Imperial soldier knows that the quickest way to stop a daemon bursting out of that poor dude's brain and killing them all is to fill his head with bullets first.

People rave about Syama's skill in doing this animation but I don't think people know just HOW fricken amazing it actually is. He didn't only create some of the best CGI shown in the last few years, his sound editing skills are on a master-class level as well. But where he reaaally shines is his cinematographical skills, I mean they are literally out of this world. Cinematographers in Hollywood aren't as good as he is. Every shot in this 13 minute long short-film is carefully selected to convey a story in and of itself. For example: when you want to show something to be powerful, you shoot the scene from down low, having the character tower over everything, making it larger than life itself. When the Space Marine is getting pummeled by the laser in the corridor is one example of this technique. It's also shot in a so called "Dutch Angle", the camera being skewed sideways, which conveys confusion or feelings of unreality. So the shot chosen for that scene is literally: "The Astartes is so incredibly powerful that you can't believe your eyes". If he made a full length movie he could easily win an Oscar for his cinematography.
@Aiveq13 күн бұрын
subtlety is amazing in this. SM walking in corridor with tiny humans squeezing through to showcase comparison in size. during ambush corridor bolter sounded almost same as cannon to showcase how powerful smaller gun is. during sprint camera not catching up to showcase speed of SM. i miss this in hollywood...

objectively, this is not "some of the best cgi shown in the last few years". but for a solo project, it's fantastic. but yeah, i agree, his camera work, cinematography, they're great. the remastered version of astartes, which sadly, includes edits to the action, timing, and cameras, is kinda lame in comparsion. very conservative use of lens selections, etc. hope to see some quality dp work from him in the future

people already went in the specifics of space marine armor, but to put it more simply: standard space marine armor is equivalent to that of a light tank. so yeah, fairly unaffected by small arms fire. there are even stronger variants of it, which are the equivalent of an MBT... or more, they make the person inside basically invincible... if it werent for the fact that so many weapons in the 40k universe are absurdly powerful. 5:48 also if you didnt know by now, the bolt guns in 40k shoot miniature rocket-propelled grenades, that are meant to explode inside a target, highly effective against flesh and light armor. 8:45 in some space marine chapters, the higher ranking marines have different helmet colors and other markings, to be more easily identifiable (helps on the tabletop too). the beaky helmet of the guy in the back also implies hes an old veteran, as that armor pattern isnt standard anymore and hasnt been for a long time (though the Rave Guard still often use a similar design). "where is this guy" as others already said, no one knows. see, one of the "neat" things about 40k is that it also dips its toes into cosmic horror and body horror at times. my personal thinking is that those orbs were remnants of some unknown alien race and he dragged the marines to its home planet... somewhere. because, as bricky said, "this rifle killed 99% of the alien populations", the implications of that being that there are alien populations out there who too tough and strong, it being too costly to defeat them, or simply live in relative hiding. one example is a race that could shoot some form of bio-lasers that went through marine armor like a hot knife through butter. also amazon is creating 2 warhammer 40k shows currently, one animated one and a liveaction one (pretty sure) directed by Henry Cavill, who is a huge 40k fan. there are rumors that things arent going well because of creative differences, but they are just utterly unsubstantiated rumors. also, hey, not all shows on streaming services are crap. Invincible is pretty good (though season 2 took a while to get interesting), as is Arcane.

Different Marine chapters use different methods but, generally speaking, robes, capes and other such embellishments indicate higher ranks. Often combined with (as shown here) different colours on certain parts of the power armour, usually the helmet. In this case the I think we're looking at a commander (in the cape) and a veteran captain (in the beak-y helmet). The place the marines are transported to at the end is most likely a daemon world. These are planets that have been drawn from the real universe into the warp and become corrupted and mutated as a result (like living things) resulting in the nightmarish landscape we see. Sadly, there is no follow up media, although the creator was hired by GW to do official stuff. It's one hell of a resume!

12:52 Ya know, when you first remarked that the dude's possessed when he shot straight up the way he did... Well, you weren't wrong. That hooded figure was a psyker (Basically space-wizards) in the service of the Inquisition, and when he broke his concentration to issue that recall-order the orb in that room possessed him. I know you'll learn more of this as you delve down the WH40K rabbit-hole, so I'll brief; basically a psyker being possessed is a VERY bad thing. At the very least, the psyker becomes a puppet for the entity possessing them; at worst, the psyker can become either a daemon-host or be torn apart to create a warp-rift that daemons and other malicious entities can use to enter reality. And honestly, as far as worst-case scenarios go, I'm not entirely sure which one is worse... Yeah, that's how bad daemon-hosts can be Honestly, those two space marines made the right call and that's pretty much standard-procedure if your psyker looks like they're being possessed: Kill with extreme prejudice and leave nothing for the entity to possess.

This is very expressionist with almost no dialogue. There are enough pieces to put together but since it doesn't give it to you interpretations could be off. With that disclaimer out of the way: The orbs were some kind of time capsules containing an ancient, almost extinct, alien race. These ancient aliens were mind controlling humans to build them new bodies so they can get out of those orbs. Those rows of golden skulls and spines seemed to be a way of granting psyker abilities to their human minions. Basically they could make a lot more than the two that were guarding the vault. Then there was that incomplete golden statue would have been a vessel for an alien to transfer into from the orb. While the astartes were sent in to put down the cult and destroy the orb there was another orb already captured. The two orbs talked to each other but you really have to listen since their words are broken up and distorted. They agreed they couldn't mind control the astartes so they decided to attack even though they knew it would mean their destruction. When the astartes was pulled into the warp he ended up on the ancient aliens home world which was pretty much dead. The guy who made this mini series would have made more but I don't know if he was going to continue this story or tell a different one.

If people on the internet are to be trusted, the guy who made this short series was hired by Games Workshop to work on official 40k content. Its possible that Astartes 2 will be offcial lore.

He was "hired", but the whole enchilada is tainted by threats and IP infringement... He was coerced and GW hasn't produced anything even close to this level.

Funny thing about that laser is it could easily have killed him if they got some VERY lucky hits, like through the eye lense or such, it's more than powerful enough, but they just had the 'spray an area' variant which as you saw, just sorta peppered his armour all over and wasn't remotely on target 😆. if these heretics had at least one plasma gun of any kind, or a heavy laser (like a lascannon) this would be a totally different story!

astartes armor can only withstand short-term laser cannon fire and the terminator armor would withstand the fire easily
@Musabre13 күн бұрын
I know that, which is exactly what happens in Astartes. He takes at most a second or so of direct hits, barely enough to beat the odds and score a lucky hit or compromised his armour through repeated impacts. A lascannon hit however would more than likely have knocked him out. And terminators can only hope to withstand a few such hits , if that..., before being in danger. Those heretics were hopelessly ill-equipped for this lol.

whats used in this short is a multilaser, the gun usually found on chimeras. they are decently strong, but have no armor penetration, so yeah, only a lucky hit would've gone through. lascannons are anti-vehicle and as such can even kill termis.

Hey you gotta play dawn of war. Thr first one. And the expansions. You'll love it. Promise. 💪🏼 especially if you like the old school warcraft games. Not wow.

This looks like the GW version with different music than the original, which I consider to be even more hype than this. There are many good 40k videos to watch that show different parts and speeds of the world: Death of Hope trailers and Death of Hope, Death Korps of Krieg, The Lord Inquisitor, Guardsman, The Fortress Monastery, Sins of a Death World, Siege of VRAKS, VRAKS Chapter 1, The Horus Heresy trailer, The Armouring of a Space Marine, Scorch Part 1. Long videos that are movies/mini-movies is The Last Church, Helsreach, The Awakening. I'd watch the shorter movies above and some lore videos before diving into the 1-2 hours you'd need for each of those but they're very worth it. Great reaction, seeing people lose their shit over 40k is always great.

These are the original shorts, cut together. The music is different in the GW version because Oedersen used some copyrighted tracks in the original score. I heard a bit of Dredd at the start for example

I think there's another fan made Warhammer 40K video out there, with good animation. Sadly I forgot the title.

Henry Cavill is attempting to get a 40k (and a AoS I think) show off the ground but Amazon is trying to infringe on the source material, and that’s what is keeping the project grounded. It makes no sense regardless because they are mad about female representation and then when shown the Sisters of Battle & Sisters of Silence (who are BAD@$$) they just don’t like them. I just don’t get why they don’t just homebrew a new faction; happens all the time in Warhammer. Like this, everyone loves it so GW canonized the Retributers chapter in this video.

that is a completely unsubstantiated rumor. dont believe everything the internet tells you.

This is what happens when decide to just look at 40k. You think "let's see why they like it so much" and now you will likely never return to ignorance.

If you really want a decent lore experience with 40K then I would recommend you stay away from Bricky, he only creates more questions than answers. You are better off with Luetin09 and Baldemort. There is also another good fan made you might like to check out, it's about 50mins long called Awakening. Sodaz vids aren't bad if you can find them as well.

i cant talk about baldemort*, but luetin is awful for complete newcomers. while hes usually accurate, he also waffles on to the point he keeps repeating points with different wordings, which results in all his videos being so long. also his recent 40k primer for people coming from SM2 was frankly not good. luetin is great once you are actually committed to the universe. *unless baldemort is the guy who mixes lore with fan theories and fan fiction, in which case hes also not a good choice for newcomers. much easier to listen to than luetin tho.

Whilst their armour is great, Astartes could walk into that scenario butt naked and not be scared. Through their training, body alterations, faith and hate they are fearless. It's a shame that on the table top they suck and are really easy to kill.

GAMESworkshop will whore out the franchise for shitty video games all day everyday. . its one of their favorite things to do. But they are super stingy when it comes to the IP being portrayed in movies and such. Been into 40k for 20 soemthing years. For every good video game there are 10 dog shit ones.

I don’t collect figures or play table top but I have spent hundreds of hours playing Dawn of War Dark Crusade, easy in my top 5 fav games of all time. In fact I think I might just go play it again soon, it’s been a few years 🙂
