24:02 Space Marines (Adeptus Astartes, yes like Astartes fan film) are generically modified 2.5 meters tall (even more) super soldiers of humanity in 40k (40 thousand A. C.) they live and fight for hundreds of years and considered by the rest of mankind as the Angels of Death (the God-Emperor of Mankind's angels). The lore for 40k are among the most well written and detailed with THOUSANDS of novels and codexes (the main cycle of "prequel" 30k story of Horus Heresy is like 100 novels total). If you want to dive into this rabbit whole - by all mean do it. I've read over 200 novels in 20+ years. "In the darkness a blind man is the best guide. In an age of Madness look to the madman to show the way." (c) one of 40k epic quote. There are dozens of fan and official animations (mostly epic trailers for games and 40k rules editions like you watch in the ending of this video) almost as good as Astartes (mb we get Astartes II in the future someday) and Amazon Prime is about to make 40k mainstream in 2 project, first one is Henry Cavills (yes, Witcher and Superman is a hardcore 40k fan for decades) 40k cinematic universe + in the new anthology "secret level" one of 15 short series would be about space marines (you could watch trailer - it's just like "love, death and robots" but for videogames). P. S. and you watched the low quality version of necrons (green beams Egypt style space terminators) vs sisters of battles (nuns in space in power armor) and space marines - there are a god damn "rusty" filter on the videos to prevent copyright strikes. I could suggest you dozens of such videos in original quality.

Anyways it's meant to be a "sequel" of sorts to the final trailer that you watched and it was made to promote the release of the 9th edition of WH40K's table top game. The big fella's are Space Marines aka the Emperor's Angels of Death, the ladies in the black armor are the Sister's of Battle and their faith in the God Emperor is so strong they're occasionally able to pull of actual miracles. Last the robot dudes are Necrons, aliens that made a bad deal 60 million years ago and all ended up with their minds trapped in robotic shells. @@SevTT 1: if it was the Yu'vath it would ABSOLUTELY be the warp. A key part of their premise is that their technology started integrating the warp at around the equivalent stage as the one where humans developed the bow and arrow. 2: It's not Yu'Vath. Creator said in interview that he was aiming for something original and didn't realize it would resemble obscure Yu'Vath lore. 3: It sure as hell is the warp. The entity within the orb drags the space marines into the immaterium with him because he's trying to use them as decoys against warp predators, a desperation tactic ("impossible, we'll never survive") that immediately fails. The Space Marines likely arrive in the location within the warp their target was trying to return to. I remember hearing somewhere that the eye-lenses on a Space Marine's helmet aren't actually eye-holes. They're a series of cameras behind a colored lens projecting to a screen inside the helmet. That way the entire face can be covered in a layer of armor instead of having little weak points like that. The 'explosion' you saw I think was actually the camera lenses freaking out as they were getting crushed by the psyker's telekinetic powers. If you look close, you can see a bunch of red circles wiggling around in there once the lens breaks. XD

3:15 This is one of my favourite segments because it's such a cool example of the sheer tactical acumen of Space Marines. He exchanges a few shots with the heavy gunner at first, but even Astartes armour can't stand up to that kind of concentrated lasgun fire for long, so he covers his retreat with a flash grenade to blind the gunner's optics. He draws his plasma pistol, steps back out, and fires BLIND through the cloud left behind by his grenade's detonation. He can't see through it either, but through that short exchange of fire, he MEMORISED THE GUNNER'S POSITION. An effective counter-strategy to an enemy ambush, devised on the spot and executed to perfection in SECONDS. That's how good Space Marines are at waging war.

Small explanation: The big dudes in armor are space marines, also known as the adeptus astartes. Genetically modified super soldiers, stronger, faster, smarter, better in every way than ordinary human. They are the elite force of the human empire but their numbers are quite limited. Since they are quite rare they are known as the emperors angels of death. They are also the posterboys of the franchise, which is why you see them basically everywhere. The ladies in armor are also soldiers but they are in service to the church. Since the church isn't allowed to have "men at arms" they simply armed women. Battlenuns. Super fanatical religious zealots whose prayers actually work sometimes. They live to burn and cleanse the universe of everything that isn't human and/or doesnt believe in the god emperor. The robot dudes are the remnants of an species that once ruled the galaxy, got tricked by some stargods, then they enslaved the same stargods and went to sleep for several million years to let the galaxy heal itself after a war of unimaginable proportions. Really hard to kill, most powerful technology in the game. All of this is part of an constantly evolving table top game from the eighties, where you collect, build and paint miniatures and lead them to battle against other nerds who do the same. Theres dozends of factions and there's one core rule to everything warhammer: Everything is crazy over the top. EVERYTHING. To give you an Idea: The normal soldier, of which there are uncountable billions, is armed with laserrifles that basically never jam, are powerful enough to just tear away limbs, ammunition isnt a problem while also beeing really precise. Those rifles are the WEAKEST weapon in the franchise, commonly referred to as flashlights.

All of those questions about who they are fighting against was written right at the start 😅 but people don't like readin', huh. Next time feel safe to pause or rewind for the text if you missed. In this video it said that these Astartes were fighting against rebellion. And regards to part two, this whole single short movie you are watching consists actually of five separate video parts that follow each other, at the end, when the final 5th episode came out, it got combined into single short movie. Originally it was in 5 parts, each being longer than the previous in video length, and it was done in span of 5 to 7 years, all five episodes total. It took that long for one dude with small help from others like sound design if I am not mistaken, and he took liberty of taking from one artist those ships you saw, as those were pre-made by someone else and not himself, and those ships weren't made for this project specifically. Astartes, as the title says, are the dudes, it translates to "space marines" basically, and there are multiple chapters, in real life it translates to battalions, and then divide into units, the same in WH40k, as chapter basically is a battalion, or it's better to say that each chapter is like a different nation with its own ethnicity, but everyone is united with a single goal and single service to a single person, and they don't have your typical feuds between them like we have in our real life, having proxy conflicts between nations and countries, wars and so on, when we're together a single race. Those who have feuds, they have already turned to Chaos side, a.k.a. dark side, and they are so called heretics.

3:08 there are many many factions in Warhammer. The easiest way to think of it the Imperium vs everyone else, but at the same time some of the Xenos (alien) factions fight each other as well. Basically there are no "good guys", it's humans trying to survive under the brutal leadership of the Emperor.
@jamesliu8095Ай бұрын
The emperor isn't even leading at the moment, he's stuck on the golden throne trying to keep the astronomicon lit and the warp gate in the palace shut. It's the high kords of terra that have led everything to shit as their bureaucracy has fucked everything.

Actually dude there is an Astartes 2 but what you watched is a compilation of 5 parts that were made over the course of a few years by one guy.

@@theredpillneo2296 There was a teaser that came out a while back but so far there have been no progress updates, utterly radio silent. But given how the first animation also took years to make I wouldn't be surprised if it's taking around the same amount of time to produce. Sure, Syama Pedersen is working with GW now and might have more resources and maybe even a team (speculation) but the scale of the project might have grown in proportion with the capabilities.

The tagline for the franchise is "In the grim darkness of the 41st millenium, there is only war" so if you want to know who is at war with who, the answer is "Yes" and "All the time"

The first story you watched was about 13 minutes long. It was made over several years, and released in 5 parts, with each taking the creator several months to make. Most got longer or more complex than the one before, as he got better at using the tools he was using. It's insane how much work some fans will put into a world they love.

The one where you asked if he was human, space marines go through a lot of modifications to make them what they are including at a genetic level to make them more like the primarch of their chapter. In more recent lore (like, changed some time between me playing in the late 90’s and today) that space marine chapter in green, the Salamanders, were changed to all have ash black skin and red eyes. Also the “I hear an angel” is because the Space Marines are referred to by the church as the Emperor’s Angels of Death

9:34 craziest detail here is that he flinched, space marines are trained to be unshakeable, as seen later the one with the cracked eyepiece doesn't even react to losing an arm so for something to make a space marine flinch you know it must be some scary shit.

The videos you watched after the Astartes Project are from the 9th Edition of Warhammer 40K trailer and a show from Games Workshop’s streaming app (Warhammer+) called “Pariah Nexus”. Those robots with the green ray guns that destroy matter are Necrons, an ancient alien race that was tricked to transfer their minds into machines for immortality. They went into hibernation 60 million years earlier due to all of their wars wiping out nearly all life in the galaxy. Now, their various “tomb” worlds are slowly awakening.

There are several videos on KZbin which explains this video in details for dummies like me. The video is 100% full of references to the Warhammer 40k world, what happens and why, analysis frame by frame, what that sphere is, who protects the spheres, what weapons the space marines they use and why. It worth to watch. Also to answer you other question, in Warhammer 40K everything is over the top, everything is grim down and everything is at war.

Red helmet for the blue suit (Ultramarines) is for lieutenants and is an homage to the last use of the red helmet as a mark of censure to an Ultramarine who theorized and ran war games about how to kill other space marines. He was in time-out waiting to get a talking to when the Heresy broke out.
