Bon Scott was once asked jokingly whether he was the AC or DC in the band. His reply was telling in its symbolism of his role: "Naw, I'm the lightning flash in the middle." ⚡

The secret of AC/DC is, they are so tight any virgin would be very unhappy about :D Also the brutal energy the emit. It is unbelivable... the only band that sounds life as good as in the studio, even better. Esp the early records. They mostly get from a gig into the studio and brought the energy into the records.

Absolutely! I even saw them at StAlbans High School! 70's in Melbourne, a Pub on every corner, and a live band in each every Saturday night! So many awesome groups, Thorpey, Chain, Stars, Daddy Cool, LRB, just so many, running the gammit of style and genre. We were spoilt, blessed, to grow up in Aus during the 60's 70's into 80's! We were all Eagle rocking!

What makes Bon Scott's voice so iconic is the snark and sass in his tone. I see it as a precursor of the whiny, pouty, punk-pop sound of Green Day and their multitude of imitators; can I get a witness? Great analysis, Bethany!

@@artromano2419 I told a young woman I work with about this song. Apparently, there's a Web site where she could enter a woman's measurements and it would produce a silhouette so she could see what that looked like. Cracked her up, completely. "Whole Lotta" describes Rosie pretty well. 😮 😁
@shegocrazy
@shegocrazy 6 ай бұрын
Someone found the real Rosie when researching for a book about the lads. From memory there was also a photo of her in the book, and by today's standards, she wasn't all that big. Unfortunately, she had a tough life and died young. Originally from Queenstown in Tasmania, she moved to Melbourne and had a flat near the lads in St Kilda where she plied her trade. As Bon suggests....when it "come to loving, she steals the show".

@@shegocrazy Yeah, I read an article about that not long ago. They found out that she was Rose-Marie Garcia. She was large, tall with red hair. It was sad to hear that she died of a drug overdose at the age of 22 about a year before Bon died.

I had read about AC/DC in late '77 in CIRCUS Rock magazine. Did'nt care for Rolling Stone. Got to see them on July 2,1978 in Houston. The day before was the very first Texxas Jam,headliners Aerosmith, Ted Nugent,Journey, Heart,Van Halen,Head East. Now AC/DC won the Battle of the Bands next door to the Cotton Bowl-Texxas Jam venue.They were invited on Aerosmith's second leg of the Draw The Line, with Journey as special guest. Angus back then was a madman storming all over the stage.About 3/4 into the show he gets on Bon's shoulders, and goes down into the crowd. After this show l started collecting each album week after week. Missed 'em on Highway To Hell, then saw The Razor's Edge with Houston local upstarts KING'S X.Same old venue-The Summit/Compac Center/ Joel Osteen's begging palace slash church.

I must have seen them 6 times between that first show until Bon died in Feb. 1980. What a crushing blow. BUT... they were Back in Black with Brian Johnson and their reign had just begun (RIP Bon). That album sold 16 million units in the U.S. alone... impressive, never missed a beat. I have seen them at least another half a dozen times since... One unforgettable concert. i really enjoy watching your reactions, especially with heavyweights like this (and Rush, Pink Floyd). I dont know where to start. First as always u do awesome reactions, i love them. Second i started to listen to ACDC when i was 15 and just started playing the drums. So to look more Rock n roll i had an old jeans jacket i cut the arms off, just like Bon has in this video. Thing is walking around looking like this in those days would put u in danger coz of those people who didnt like metal and looking like it. I had just realized at age 15 that i was getting old enough and had enough muscles so i didnt get beaten by my mum any more. Problem was i eneded up getting attacked by men who didnt like this new metal crap. Anyway, i love watching these old ACDC shows, or any shows for that matters. What amaze me is that Bon Scott freely steps back so Angus can more or less be the Front figure of the band. Ty for the awesome reaction and watching those nice curls again.

Bon started right here in West Australia, literally the most isolated group of cities (Fremantle being the port city down the road from Perth) on the planet and was in 3 bands before AC/DC. Now days, all it takes is for someone to go viral on the internet, back then it was a crazy slow build. Australia did have a bit of an advantage in the show Countdown, but the basic story of AC/DC is a band working their ass off for decades to become what they are today. So crazy to think the story is still going. The other singer from here, if you are looking for some crazy vocal technique is Chrissy Amphlett, she was even wilder than Bon and wore a school uniform on stage as well (like Angus Young does).

When you talk about the energy they all had and how it all meshes together for the performance. Having personal experience on this, this is the party energy we all had the in 70's and 80's. That time had an emotional quality for many of us kids growing up then that was almost nihilistic. I remember a friend of mine once said "we live under a nuclear threat we ain't in control of so might as well go out with sex, drugs, and rock'n roll. Then he would quote the song line "here for a good time not a long time". Kind of an unofficial motto of a lot of people back then was "live fast, die young, and leave a good looking corpse cause no one expected to live to get old honestly. So when you partied there was no point in holding back as it was possible you wouldn't have a tomorrow.

I saw them on the Highway to Hell tour, and it is still a benchmark for the highest level of crowd excitement and participation that I've ever seen. I was up in the mezzanine with a good view and from the first note to the last, not a single person in the auditorium sat down. Bon Scott walking through the crowd with Angus on his shoulders? Epic!

Just seeing them in such an outdated stage with next to no sound management and sounding rough and they still hit it out of the park, performance wise. Just great energy and showmanship. Also notice Angus was a very early adopter of going wireless. Imagine any modern act setting up in what looks like a High School auditorium like that and still performing and sounding this great. Many would fail.

Awesome review, young lady!! So sad that Bon didn't live to see the worldwide fame that was coming their way with the release of their final album with him at the forefront.

I was so fortunate to see the Bon Scott version of AC/DC live on October 16 1979 at Towson State in Baltimore. This was about 5 months before his death. I saw them a couple times after but it was never the same. This song is from Let There Be Rock. My favorite album of theirs. Just balls to the walls start to finish....

Bon Scott was obviously amazing. But don't forget that Bon himself was totally fangirling over Brian Johnson as a singer when he was in Geordie which was the entire reason they had him audition for the spot when Bon passed away

Grazie per questa bellissima critica dedicata al mitico Bon Scott. Un personaggio affascinante che ci ha lasciato troppo presto.

I've always noticed what you're noticing in his live singing. He's actually using the microphone pressed close as sort of like his upper lip in enunciating certain words. I think it is clever and unique to his style. ✌️

In 1975 I was in year 11 (5 Form) at school. We had an end of year breakup do. The girl that organised it booked a band from Sydney, that was in town (Melbourne) at the time. They had come to Melbourne to perform for the first time on "Count Down" a TV music show. They were an hour late, a bit drunk, on a tiny stage. They blew or minds... My mated said to me. "They're bloody good. they might go somewhere" They were of course AC/DC.

Haven't watched the full video yet but Bon was brilliant, he had the voice, he had the walk, he had the strut and he captivated the audience along with Angus of course a fan since 1983...

This is So Fun had anyone told me that my most favorite AC/DC Song Whole Lotta Rosie in the the 9th grade in HS in 1978 and now 2024 I would be getting to see a Professional Vocal Coach doing a reaction video to this Song 46 years later I would not believe but then also You have done several reaction videos to my Most Favorite Bands like Triumph and Journey it makes me think I kinda knew what I really liked was Really Good! I Love Music Especially and going and continuing to go see theses Bands Live Journey next followed by Sammy Hagar Keep Rock’n!

Bon Scott was AC - DC when he died, they did not make me lose myself in the music. I still love them, but that time was special.
