Perfection.. I'm crying. That was is wife of almost 40 yrs.. What does that say.. he died at 62.. Him and Tricia raised 3 children.. she's lost a husband too young and they've lost their Daddy too young.. My husband passed away at 51. Our children were 23, 22, 21, 16 and 9, I was 40 . It's not easy for anyone in a family going through this and my heart goes out to the family.. I'm 15 yrs older now and am blessed to be with an amazing man that raised my youngest son.. but it takes time to heal and this is very fresh for Toby's family and all his fans. RIP Big Dog Daddy

This was September 2023 & he was receiving the 'People's Choice Country Icon Award'. He also did 3 live performances in Las Vegas in December & yes Mom came out, there. That's why we were all so shocked to hear of his passing. Listening to Toby do it here was beautiful, yet tough to watch. He is so thin & frail. And yes, that is his wife, Tricia. ~ You have barely touched the surface on Toby's catalog. He wrote this song after a conversation with Clint Eastwood but wow the lyrics hit harder after his battle with cancer and now his passing. The song took on a whole new meaning. It affected me hard almost like a family member because I've listened to his music for over 30 years since I was a young kid. So sad I thought he'd beat cancer. RIP Big Dog.

I watched him on a podcast with Bob Stoops back in November, and he said he was actually planning on performing something upbeat, especially since right beforehand Blake Shelton performed an upbeat song of his. But he said a showrunner/manager (I forget his name and title) insisted that he play this song. Then afterwards the song went to number 1 on iTunes.

He talks about how he was on chemo when he performed at this show and how he almost missed it cause he got sick from drinking some wine the night before, and how he didn't think he'd be looking these words of the song in the face, it was really sad but interesting interview.
