Just a point for current viewers - the law has changed regarding what you can be asked to pay for, references and credit checks are no longer legally allowed to asked by agents for tennants to pay.

thank you so much for being real, i've had to move out my old home not by choice and currently staying with my aunt till i can afford my own place. i'm also 23 and proper worried about the whole process of what to pay, where do i start etc. sadly my partner isn't ready for moving in yet so i'm preparing to move somewhere on my own for now but it'll be a lot harder as i have a dog and not many rent properties are pet friendly

You’re 23 and still very very young which at that age i wouldn’t have done because everyone’s circumstances are different. But i’m at a point where i’m ready to move out now and be independent. It’s great taking on responsibilities and very rewarding when you put in effort.

I’m sure now there’s new regulations that mean landlords can’t tell you you’re not allowed pets.
@tamarafaye Жыл бұрын
@@guythompson1103 they can still refuse pets, the new law sadly doesn't do much. basically all it does is landlords have to give genuine reason behind why you can't have pets

Can someone give me advice on how to set up gas and electric? It's my first time moving out, so I have no clue... Do I have to call the previous company (ask the landlord who it is) and tell them I'm moving in and don't want them to be my supplier if I found a cheaper one online? How do I know they are cheaper? Its all so confusing!!!!

I know this is an older video now but I’m moving out on Friday with my fiancé and this has been so helpful! Just wondering how you have found the increase in gas and electric bills?
@AbiHarriet2 жыл бұрын
Ahhh thank you so much ❤️ how exciting moving in south your fiancé! So we are on a contract where we only pay a certain amount a month. It’s like a fixed bill. But if we are under £45 for example (our total bill for gas and electricity a month) we will get our money back or used to pay the next months bill. ☺️ It never changes, however if we use more gas and electric British gas will send a letter and say it’ll go up. Hope this has been helpful xx

Appreciate the advise. Im totally new to it and planning to move in with my fiance. Im 27 so its a massive move. 😅 Regarding electric and gas. So i guess does the monthly bill vary depending on the meter readings you give them? I assume if you overpaid then they deduct the overpayment from the following month? Also with regards to change of address, how do you guys manage that? Do you loterally have to call a dozen companies to tell them your address has changed? Any tips would be much appreciated. My parents are due to move into their new home so im contemplating leaving some of my addresses as theirs to avoid my post coming to a flat I may move out of after a year.
@tarasdiary Жыл бұрын
for changing your address, you can actually just change it yourself if you have apps associated with the companies like your bank app, online shopping apps etc. but if you don't have any app with them then that's when you call them, it's an easy process to change your address with the companies you've signed up with

Hi, Ahh how exciting I hope the moves goes well 😊 Yes that’s correct, we agreed to a monthly direct debit payment and British gas would let us know if we were paying too much or too little. So you can change your address online it’s really easy. I just change my address on my online banking and then changed my driving license address and that was free to do. And just any new bills your paying just to inform them about your new address. Thanks for your comment and good luck with the move ❤️
