Someone mentioned the piano. He started out playing piano at age 5. I'm sure that helped in him being able to separate his hands and have them do different things. Incredible technique.

He is a lefty who went right handed on guitar, I don't think he knew it was wrong for him, pushed through and it paid off!

Michael was the guitarist for a band called Nitro. His techniques and abilities are pretty damn wild. I've also heard from more than one person that he's a super nice, humble dude who takes a lot of time with fans and does (has done) all sorts of live demos at guitar shops across the country.

The first time I met him was in Orlando florida at a stryper show I was standing in the crowd and I look over to my right side and he was standing next to me with several guys I spoke to him and told him how much I enjoyed his playing and he was nice to me but I did t bother him too long he was trying to watch the show I often wonder if stryper even knew he was there

True Story: Herman Li the guitarist for Dragonforce once reacted to this very same video and after starring in awe he finally uttered one word: "How?" There's a reason why this man's nickname is "The God of Shredding!" and you just saw why.

What the hell? Playing with cross hand and shred like that is so unreal. He almost play like circus to the highest level. In my entire life,I've seen so many guitar legends but this one is top notch. Even guitar legends will take years to play cross hands and shred that fast. This is so unreal.

That would be because he's got a lot of classical background

Such a nice guy and the cleanest guitar player I have ever seen .Incredibly humble too. He is incredibly fast as well. The film is not sped up he is actually that fast. I have seen him play a few feet away and its pretty amazing to watch. He also plays a 4 neck guitar so find a video of that sometime. Keep in mind this video is probably 25 years old at least.

@@aaronderunheilige385 Nice... I would love to see one more time. I saw them some years ago in Czech, Zlin. During Hell on Earth 3 and I believe filming. I can see myself couple times in that music video and also on that dvd. After the show we met all of them in the hotel bar... it was sick. Insane, no joking now. I was sitting at the bar by the counter and someone tapped me on shoulder. i turned and Eric was there and he said "I remember you from the show" , we were in the first row. Crazy. Then Joey came, then Logan and RIP Scott.. they stayed with us maybe almost 2 hours and talked with us like we were long time friend. Nice experience. They signed our tickets and our t-shirts. 60 hours no sleep and talking to Manowar... that was hell of a weekend :)

If it weren't for his band Nitro He would not have been known. To be one of the biggest shred machines of all time.

It's years and years of hard work. In the other video speed kills, it was like in the 80s or early 90s. Back when the music stores in the malls had instruction videos for guitarists. He was already on Lengendary tier back then. I think he got bored and kept trying to find new challenges. It's definitely years of hard work and it's all muscle memory from that point on. Everyone sucks when they first start playing an instrument so they are like oh this isn't for me. Everyone had to practice for years to become good. Heck even if if you played for 30 minites-an hour everyday for a year you'd actually notice a huge difference. But if you want to be like a pro then it's like a 8 hours per day thing lol...I bet he might not have been ambidextrous but kept practicing and started seeing improvement and kept going. He's definitely jaw dropping. I respect the damn mental discipline it took to get that good.

Sorry for just seen this, it was awsome. A few notes, first Michael Angelo Batio it's NOT ambidestrus, he is a lefty how learn to play guitar as right handed and then retrained him self to play as lefty. Second, if you ar impressed with this video, he also has a few with a four neck guitar, been the other two like you see wen he flips this one upside down.

Greatest Guitar player ever, but his incredible talent is standing in the way of song writing. 1: He is too metronomic accurate, we do kind of like "Humanized" notes. 2: It's hard to have that much talent and then having to cut 90% of it. 3: I don't think he found a group to collab with that was right for him.
