Hey Kyle - Met you back at the TouraTexas rally in March. I'm planning to be there again in October. Like you I was new to the Pan America and decided to dive in on a trail way above my capabilities in Moab. Now planning more regular rides out to Hidden Falls after I get upgraded skid plate and tires installed. Reach out if you want to ride. I'm in Georgetown. Later

Great video bro! What made me sweat watching it was not the tires, it was seeing you without proper gear/ protection. Get'em before the tires. I always wanted to go to the Hidden Falls, now after seeing your video I must go. Let's plan a day there if you're up for it. Keep up the good work. Ride safe.
@cruisingwithkyle7 ай бұрын
Yeah since the video I’ve gotten some KLIM boot, and Mosko pants and they make a huge difference haha. Yeah hidden falls is great, definitely want to go out there again.
@richardgibbens58549 ай бұрын
Hi Kyle. I saw you at hidden Falls before you took off on the trails. I asked you if you had taken the bike off any Sweet jumps. I see that you have now taken it on some sweet trails. Good for you.
@cruisingwithkyle9 ай бұрын
Oh yeah I remember! I had a blast out there, I need to get some proper gear but I’m looking forward to riding out there more. Maybe do some group rides.

Good work man! you're gonna get 100s of tips, dont do this, do that, my lil sis can pick this bike up bla bla bla. But please bro, get some proper boots before you get hurt real bad. Subbed
@cruisingwithkyle9 ай бұрын
Thank you! Yeah boots are on the top of the list. I wasn’t sure what I needed exactly going into it but now I have a pretty good idea and boots are a must.

Those first few drops will show you what you need to upgrade. Hand guards / levers and a belly plate are the first to go on my bikes. I lost against the mud my first time off road on an ADV bike too! Sprained my ankle real bad, luckily I had a buddy with me to get the bike back up.
@cruisingwithkyle9 ай бұрын
Haha yeah they will, I got a list of upgrades now. Hand guards and skid plate are a must.
@MinnowMoto9 ай бұрын
Skid plate and barkbusters just for safety sake. I prefer that hard packed dry stuff. Mud is just not my thing. Ride safe.
@cruisingwithkyle9 ай бұрын
Yeah those are first on my list after that ride haha. Thanks! Ride safe as well.
@arjankroonen43199 ай бұрын
@@cruisingwithkyle And please get some proper gear... could have easily crushed your ankle. Besides it being way safer it also looks cooler than (bike)jeans and those shoes.
@cruisingwithkyle9 ай бұрын
@arjankroonen4319 yeah I’m definitely invest in some gear now. I just didn’t want to spend hundreds of dollars before I gave it a go.

Hi Kyle, it's seems you aren't in off road plus mode but in road mode in this video. i think it's much better to switch in off road plus mode in the mud with 50/50 tyres. it's jmho
@MatthewGoudreau9 ай бұрын
damn bro, seeing it laying in the mud pit I don't know how you got that up haha felt like I was watching an episode of long way. looked fun as hell though. insane how big the bike seems on a single track, I guess now I see why people have pan ams and dirt bikes hahaha
@cruisingwithkyle9 ай бұрын
Haha yeah it was a doozy.
@Texas2Tires9 ай бұрын
The bike has been baptized. That must have been rough getting that beast up in the mud. Please do ride with others it’s much safer and more fun. 😊
@cruisingwithkyle9 ай бұрын
Haha it has! Yeah I was unprepared for what I was getting myself into. A group of people to ride with is the way to go.

I hate seeing the comments where someone says that bike is not made for off-road, my Yamaha Super T was heavier than my new Pan America and I did about 4,000 mi all off-road with it. Now let's be real and no it's not a 650. But I will say this shame on you for not practicing picking the bike up in your yard. Years ago with my first KLR I got it stuck at my house in the creek, near the pond, and every ditch I could find so I knew how to handle the bike when I was gone off trail. You didn't pick the bike up correctly and there are plenty of videos online from very small women that have the massive BMW 1250 adventure model with every piece of luggage known to mankind and these small hundred pound women pick the bike up. My very first week with my new Pan America I did over 150 mi just four wheeler trails and gravel roads that are not maintained up at Albert's Pike in Arkansas. So anyone venturing on one of these bikes needs to practice picking it up in a controlled environment and do it until your proficient at it and don't get exhausted trying to pick it up. My Canada trip several years ago I believe it was about 35 times I had to pick my Super T up and it was fully loaded with camping gear it sucked every time but thankfully I knew how to do it without hurting my back or exhausting myself. Practice practice practice
@cruisingwithkyle7 ай бұрын
Well the biggest issue with picking up the bike the proper way was I snapped my grab bar almost immediately and was in a slosh pit of mud that prevented any lift leverage what so ever so I had to do some improvising. Definitely practice makes things easier and I learned a valuable lesson that day.

I am looking to buy a adventure/dual sport bike and this for sure makes me think I should just buy a DRZ400 or a CRF300L. I have seen similar videos of people dropping their Africa Twin or BMW and i think nah i am good with a smaller less expensive motorcycle
@cruisingwithkyle9 ай бұрын
Yeah if you’re just wanting to whip around the trails and ride some off road tracks I’d get a smaller dual sport. But if you’re also wanting to do a lot of road or highway miles I’d go with a bigger adventure bike. Something like the Tenere, Tiger 900, or the Desert X are good in the middle bikes that can do both well.
@BlockCylinder9 ай бұрын
The mud was definitely a big factor, but you might want to watch a few videos about how to pick up a heavy bike. A small woman can pick up a full-dress touring bike or a big ATV if she's using proper technique.
@petertspock7 ай бұрын
Picking up a 500 pound plus bike in mud is much tougher than on pavement . I haven't dropped my PA yet but I'm sure I will when off road. Not much mud but deep sand so far.
@hughmac74239 ай бұрын
Mistake number one, using the standard 80/20 tires. Just because the Pan Am is marketed as an off road bike doesn't mean it is as standard, you need better 50/50 tires, proper gear (not silly boots and basic riding gear), real bark busters and better crash protection under and on the side stand switch, etc. I have a Pan Am Special, with the right gear it is great off road, but really it is not an off road bike, it is an all roads sports tourer.
@cruisingwithkyle9 ай бұрын
Yeah I have a solid list of things I need to get now. I knew going in tires were going to be an issue but spending the money before I gave it a try was a lot haha. I definitely want to do more off road riding so investing in the proper equipment is the next move.
@Nashville_Delinquent8 ай бұрын
big bikes like this in the dirt are a lot, been riding off road for 10 years now, and keep my adv bike in the dry as much as I can. the slop aint for me. come up to Tennessee some time and ill show you hundreds of miles of amazing dirt roads
@cruisingwithkyle8 ай бұрын
Haha yeah definitely going to avoid the mud at all cost in the future. I’ve always wanted to visit Tennessee, never been. Looks awesome!
