Cilok stands for (aci in plug). Aci is tapioca flour in Sundanese, so cilok is just tapioca flour that is given a little salt and water and then formed into rounds. I hope this is additional information :)

@@gypsyinsneakers BATAGOR also stands for "Bakso TAhu GOReng" which means fried tofu meatballs. You can also try Gehu "Toge Tahu" (bean sprouts and tofu), or cireng "aci di goreng" (fried tapioca flour). If you like spicy food, you can try seblak.... Happy exploring Bandung food :)

Hi.... I am so pleased that ... at last... you come to my City... Wilujeng Sumping di Bandung! Welcome to Bandung.... Cilok is an abbreviation of "aCI dicoLOK" ... It's a pierced steamed savory tapioca ball.... Usually has it's own fillings, some mutton, beef or goat fat, well that's an old school CiLok 😀. I Aggree with Nikki.. because Cilok is tasty though... 😀. Modern CiLok is mixed with other snacks like Seblak or Served with some kind of savory broth with beef ribs or konro... you should have to explore Bandung's diverse cullinary journey to find and eat modern cilok. Cilok usualy sold near elementary school and kids buy cilok during breaks . Cilok has siblings :-D called Cireng or Savory Fried Tapioca dough also served with peanut sauce but usually mildly spicy. By the way.... Bandung was built by the Dutch to be the Capital City of Dutch Indies (not Jakarta) back then... The Ducth likes Bandung's cool atmosphere than the hot Batavia (Jakarta). During that period Bandung divided into 2 distinct region... The North (north side of rail way) is for The Dutch Residential and offices Area, you still can find more European Atmosphere in certain part of the City... While the South (south side of the rail way) is the home of Bandung's indigenous fighters

Cilok is made from tapioca flour dough which is shaped into rounds with meat or egg fillings, and is usually served with chili or peanut sauce.

indeed Cilok is just a ball of dough... the highlight is the chewy sensation.. and the assorted of the bumbu.. it could be just a sweet soy sauce or it peanut sauce or sambar or combination of those 3 condiments.

there are so many street foods from Bandung and other West Java. Mostly those names are to make shorter's name. *Batagor* (Baso Tahu Goreng) *Cilok* (Aci di Colok) *Cimol* (Aci di Gemol) ect... but for *Seblak* it means heart-beat *seseblak-an hate/hati*

if you are still in Bandung, please visit Bandoeng Melk Center, the resto was built years ago and serves Bandung typical dishes including various milk as the best favorite offer

if you are still in bandung, there is this restaurant that serves only vegan food, yes all of the menus are plant based. The restaurant name is "Kehidupan Tidak Pernah Berakhir" located in jalan pajajaran if im not mistaken. i think its worth to try

Glad to see that you enjoyed batagor and siomay bandung. In the Netherlands, some Dutch I know like peanut sauce (pindasaus) there and I always say they have to try Indonesian peanut sauce (with batagor) if they haven't. That is another level.

Cilok made with only aci (cassava flour) without any meat. Originally it is only snack which school kids like to eat. When you revisit Bandung again later, please go to "Goa Belanda-Dago" and "Boscha's house at Malabar, south Bandung".

You could try Seblak, Cireng, Cimol and Empal Gentong kind of Sundanese dishes too. All kind of Aci like Cilok and other it variant it made by tapioca or strach flour so you feel like chewy texture in your mouth

Try Paskal Hyper square got a lot of food there, or dago bakery for the view. By the way batagor means baso (meat ball), tahu (tofu) goreng (fried)

In bandung we have a ton of spicy food but super delicious also, more more and more spicier than u had before.. too bad u cant enjoy spicy food :,) While in bandung i suggest you to try; 1. Ikan bakar sambal pesisir (but im pretty sure u cant eat this, hyper spicy! But ultra delicious) 2. Imah babaturan (the best fried rice in town! Try the goat one and they have many delicious food on menu) 3. Soto sedap boyolali 4. Mi aceh saparua 5. Belah doeren (all various durian) 6. Sop kaki 999, simpang 5 dago Enjoy bandung❤️

BaTaGor = Bakso, Tahu, Goreng (Fried Tahu Bakso), Tahu Bakso is Tofu stuffed with chicken/fish dough like Bakso dough. Siomay = Indonesian Dimsum from fish or chicken. Cilok = Tapioca ball, it's very chewy. One of my fav snack.

BATAGOR = BASO TAHU GORENG ( Fried Meat Ball Tofu ) in bandung there is a lot mix and combination Foods , you can try COMBRO , PISGOR , CILOR , etc

Usually you can order Batagor Siomay one set for Steam Siomay, Fried Siomay, Fried batagor, Steam Tahu Bakso (tahu putih), stuffed bittermelon, boiled egg, boiled cabbage, peanut sauce with sambal and kecap manis.

I'm Cilok lover. Best Cilok is from Ciamis. Bandung Cilok typically Tapioka Ball with Spicy Peanut Sauce. But Ciamis Cilok is more savory and fatty. But same, Just Tapioka Ball. Sometimes filled with egg, sliced fat/ meat. If you wanna Cilok with broth/soup, you can try Cilok Goang from Tasik. Or Baso Aci from Garut.

Cilok actually is just a big tapioca ball so you can imagine it as a big boba with savoury flavour... They dont use any meat of fish but some times they fill the inside with something. The common one is beef fats but you can also find cilok isi that filled with various filling like meatball, sausage, beef floss, or quail egg

Batagor stands for Baso Tahu Goreng. Baso Tahu = Siomay.. Siomay Goreng = Baso Tahu Goreng.. Baso Tahu Goreng = Batagor.. Even I can't tell the difference.. 😅 And why did they Goreng the Batagor which is already Goreng?

You should try..somay..batagor..bakmie bangka...pork fried from bangka island.....serabi notosjuman....pisang goreng madu bu naniek...bandeng presto..pempek palembang..soto betawi...sop kambing dudung....sate maranggi....martabak telor....pecel lele....nasi goreng kambing ...masakan manado....omg so much more i cant tell u one by one 😅😅😅

Next, pls try chicken porridge/ bubur ayam haji oyo, kupat tahu gempol (rice cake, tofu, bean sprout with peanut souce), lontong kari, seblak, roti bakar & pisang molen kartika sari / mayasari. Actually tons of culinary in bandung, but those are the infamous ones.

Yup batagor and siomay is my childhood snack, we just eat it every time. For us, the batagor sauce is not spicy at all 🤭 well siomay and batagor had the same batter except the tofu. Yup and it’s not healthy to eat it every day. Cilok is more tapioca flour.

Batagor is bakso tahu goreng; cilok is aci d colok by stick of teeth, aci means made from singkong or ubi kayu

Siomay made from fish, batagor made from bakso (could be meatball or fish but mostly more flour while siomay more fish). Also batagor has fried tofu. Siomay mostly steamed like dimsum (there's siomay in dimsum too but chinese siomay without peanut sauce).

Batagor mean Bakso(meatball), Tahu(tofu) Goreng(fried). But the meatballs in Indonesia that we sell normally have some flour innit so the texture is chewy.

Pempek comes from Palembang (East Sumatera) . . . . it is like batagor but the sauce like soup Rendang comes from Padang (West Sumatera) . . . . . .l know you have try this before

I cannot believe until I saw this video, that Batagor Kingsle has improved its place to be a nice proper restaurant.. Last time I checked, it was very over-crowded, due to (possibly) the best Batagor restaurant in Bandung.. Love to see that you love the Batagor and Siomay. You can also mix them up, like for takeaway and seperated the sauce and bring those to Bali, Susan haha (which what I did in 2013)

Cilok only made by Tapioca dough and some chicken powder,,,,it's cheaper version of Bakso Sapi and not for a resto level but they put it in the menu list maybe just for some adult to remembering their childhood with cilok 😁😂

Cilok is made of tapioca flour. the taste should be a lil bit savory or salty but you get more flavor from the peanut sauce. So, you're right. Cilok is like dough ball.

Coba siomay yang kukusnya campur dengan kentang dan kol nya pasti enak Cilok bukan dari ikan ataupun daging.. hanya tepung tapioka saja kelebihannya kenyal dan bumbu kacangnya juga pedasnya

Basically, there are 2 versions of this tofu and siomay (wonton like) dish. The steamed and fried version. The steamed called Baso Tahu, and the fried called Batagor (Baso tahu goreng).

Cilok is made of tapioca flour. It tastes better while it's still hot and don't eat it in one go, you'd better cut it into some parts first.

Cilok = Aci Dicolok / Ditusuk Aci = adonan yang terbuat dari Tepung Terigu Cilok memang harus terasa pedas, kalau tidak pedas akan terasa hambar / tanpa rasa hanya sekedar tekstur kenyal.....

Cilok is made from tapioka starch, made into balls, they gave flavor and then boiled it and serve with spicy sauce. The word Cilok means Aci (tapioka starch) dicolok (stick out). Maybe you should try Cireng (Aci digoreng), I think is better than Cilok😁

Tofu in bandung is different with any other tofu in indonesia..very special one 😬 And cilok is made from tapioka flour mix with fish meat usually.

I think they add tofu in batagor or siomay it's just an economic problem because if they use all the dough with fish then the profit will be small. after all, the tofu makes the shape look big. While cilok is pure sago without fish in it, and it is made for a cheaper version of the food and relies more on spicy seasoning

Susan, i recomend u to try "Ronde Alkatiri", that is ginger drink at Alkatiri street Bandung.. So you can try the legend traditional coffee shop at same street, Kopi Purnama.

Do you know batagor stand for Baso Tahu Goreng (fried meatball Tofu), Cilok stand for Aci dicolok, dumpling from tapioca flavour....Why you don't try baso tahu sinchan, the best baso tahu in my town, and surabi cihapit, original taste toping oncom, surabi kinca burangrang, mie kocok dadeng, and many more. No enough a few days to enjoy your taste in bandung...trust me!!!
