First time trying FILIPINO fast food. JOLLIBEE in Singapore!

Comment on the spaghetti guys, its normally sweet flavored with hotdogs cuz it was developed for kids in the Philippines, usually prepared during occasions such as kids birthday parties which they love and now it has become a tradition/institution in the long run. When Jollibee adapted this in their menu, many westerners thought it would taste like the Italian version but were surprised otherwise. Some don't like it though as its an acquired taste so they say, but Filipinos love it as it reminds them of their younger days growing up in the Philippines and it brings back memories of home especially for those that have emigrated abroad.

I think the Filipinos long ago developed this recipe from the original Italian Meatball Spaghetti version however simplifying it by removing some of the Italian seasonings like olive oil, basil, parsley, bay leaf, pepper, etc., and making the sauce a little more sweeter, catering to the children's palate, substituting Italian sausage with hotdogs, cheddar cheese for parmesan and viola.. you now have the Filipino spaghetti version.

As far as I can remember, the recipe is more or less the same since i was a kid back in the 80s. The chicken's selling point is the cripsy skin and more or less the same since back then as well. I used to think KFC's chicken is better, but in recent years, the quality of their chicken here in the Philippines has gone down. McDonalds here is attempting to copy the chicken's crispiness and the sweet spaghetti sauce but it's really no competition here.

I tried it when they opened in Mississauga. Chicken is better than kfc and burger is better than mcdonalds. Try aloha burger, spaghetti, chicken and mango peach pie. Really surprised. Mcd & Kfc watch out!

That was a fun watch. The Filipino spaghetti evolved when mothers wanted to let their families/kids have a taste of something foreign. Ground meat was expensive and tomato paste not readily available. So in true Filipino style, they substituted with available ingredients. Thus the inclusion of hot dog slices. The banana ketchup or sweet ketchup replaced tomato ketchup as a substitute cause it was way cheaper. Thus was born the Filipino style spaghetti. Spaghetti itself is thought to have been brought to Italy by Marco Polo from his travels to China. So noodles became spaghetti cause Italy also substituted ingredients for noodles with what was locally available

We already have two Jollibees here, one in Toronto and one that recently opened in Mississauga. When the TO branch opened, they had to set up two tents to accommodate all people that showed up. The line up took at least 6 hours in the first few months. You should try the peach mango pie next time. Filipinos by the way love their spaghetti sweet. (I’m Fil-Canadian btw) I’m glad you’ve had a good Jollibee experience 😁

Better try Jollibee in other countries. PH has smaller serving and weirdly enough, there are items that are not served but you can buy it in international branches. As far as what I've watched here in YT, Peach Mango pie in US is like 2x bigger than the local version. PH Jollibee doesn't serve Halo-Halo anymore probably because they have a lot of competitors, other fastfood/restaurants and street vendors. You could also try Aloha Burger and Palabok. Other food in their menu are pretty common. If there's an Ube pie, try it as well. But if you cute couple gonna go here in the Philippines, better try real local food instead. I wanna recommend my favorites but they are mostly beef-based. So nvm. XD Good luck on your food trip!

GG would just be a lil bit pricey than the other one but reasonable and your tummies will be happy. And yes, Jollibee is great! Chickenjoy is my favorite. Though I like it best with lots of gravy. Spaghetti and Peach Mango Pie are my next picks.

The jollibee there is kind of westernized; if you go here on the Philippines, it's kinda different but you will still know it's Jollibee. If ever you come here on the Philippines and if you want a fast-food restaurant that's very 'Filipino', try Mang-Inasal, it's really tasty and definitely has that Philippine home-cooked feels

Menu here in the Philippines is a bit different. Even that spaghetti looks different... here the color is a a bit orangey... and cheese is crumbled on top.. there its like all melted... that beef burger is called YumBurger TLC (Tomato Lettuce Cheese) here. And we dont have that chicken burger here ( I wish we have).. Ow, and try the peach mango pie next time with the halo-halo sundae.
