Guys, if you're not planning on leaving Bucharest just yet, there are a bunch more cool places to visit: - Therme, which is a fantastic spa/wellness center just outside Bucharest - Comana Adventure Park (Parcul de aventura Comana), which is also close to Bucharest and is a forest/lakeside nature park where they have zip lines and rope courses. There's also an Orthodox monastery there first established in the 1400s. - if you ever get tired of the Old Town bar/restaurant area, take the time to walk along Calea Victoriei (Victory Way). Lot's of cool architecture mostly from late 19th and early 20th century. Along the way you can find the National Museum of Art housed in the gorgeous Royal Palace and the nearby Romanian Atheneum, a concert hall that is one of the most iconic buildings in Bucharest. Also along Calea Victoriei is the Revolution Square (Piața Revoluției), the place where dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu held his last rally and probably sealed his fate. It and University Square (which you've already seen) are probably some of the most emotionally charged places in Bucharest in terms of recent history. - other good museums to visit are the "Grigore Antipa" Museum of Natural History and the nearby Peasant's Museum which may give you more background for the things you've already seen at the open air Village Museum. - The Cișmigiu Gardens, comparatively small as a park, but perhaps cozier for it. If I remember correctly it's the oldest park in Bucharest. - those big fountains in Piata Unirii are much cooler to see in the weekend at night. I could probably come up with more stuff, but this should suffice for now :)

Recepie for mici: minced meat (porc +beef; beef+lamb) salt , black pepper, beef or pork stock enough not to make it to wateri and a pinch of bicarbonate for one kilograms. After, you can add what condiments you like and let it sit in refrigerator for a few hours.
@fetitadepeterra53193 жыл бұрын

But watch out for the portions because the medieval knights ate a lot. If necessary, you can book online. Then if you want an exotic tropical environment, go to Therme Bucharest. While you visit Romania, if you plan to eat out make sure you search for daily menus, rather than going to random restaurants that will overprice food. It can be the difference from spend 5 euro to spending 40 euro for same food. (just look for restaurants that got listed "Meniul Zilei" on a board at the entrace which should be around 25 lei on average) - Just a tip so you won't end up being overcharged like Food X Bert was. Other than that, what I would suggest is to avoid most of the public transportation, especially trains and buses that go from one city to another. Hope you enjoy your time in our country. I am guessing that your local guide already explained those things, but just in case anyone else plans to visit in the future, take those things into account.

Mici are street food. Story is that the guy who invented them was a grill street vendor (grataragiu). On one particular day when the fair was in town he had so many orders that he ran out of intestines to use for the sausage wrap. He still had a lot of customers to serve so he shaped the sausage filling into little sausages and grilled them. People loved them so he started selling them and made a huge profit because everyone loved them. Gradually they would be made with less meat than a regular sausages so they would not break when flipping on the grill so people started calling them mici (smalls).

Make nasi lemak in Romania and invite your friends.. 😁 You can actually buy the bottle caps with the rings attached - the soya bean milk food vans here use them. The Scove...whatever looks like a "puri" that Indian restaurants sell 😁 They usually serve it with curry, though, instead of covering it with cheese...

Shaorma 😁 you guys ate it at the terrace, but usually, we (me and my husband) used to just hang out in a parking lot with a big group of guys with old cars, even during winter, then go get a shaorma, went back to the parking lot while playing with the cars on the empty streets, stuff ourselves like pigs and then continue to hang out until 2, 3 am in the morning, doing burnouts or drift attempts 😄...eeeh good ol' times...

We tend to eat pizza with a garlic or tomato sauce next to it, dip in, that's why it doesn't have a lot of sauce on it already, like your friend said "more stuff on it" :))))

SHAORMA, BRE! yes, I know it's Turkish, but I don't care, the shaorma culture in Romania is amazing. Also, mici is the kind of food you have at a barbeque, but they're just so popular that many places you can buy them as readily as Street food

Nowadays you can also find mici made out of Black Angus meat, those are divine af.

I am glad you like our country so far, but if you plan on staying a bit longer, I would recommend tou go visit Brasov, Sibiu, Sighisoara then head north to Maramures County. Those places are so much nicer than Bucharest. It is definitely worth visiting :)
