Big Shout Out to Brent for suggesting his idea on baling! Really enjoy the explaining too Jan! Yes, probably seems tedious from your end but a knucklehead like me learns a ton while STILL having some fun hanging out with you and your Family! YIKERS on climbing that Grain Leg! I'm not a fan of high places. LOVE Roller Coasters though and can ride those idiot cars all day just because I'm an idiot too🤣! Great to meet your cool cat Buster! He's seen it all and he truly is a survivor! Fun catching up with your sister and your Dad as well Jan! Always a treat to come to your Farm for a visit. I appreciate my seat in here! Cheers and From Ohio and Keep Strutting!

I know you have probably heard it a thousand times before, but I'll say it again. A good fall harness is $150 and it can save you a great deal of pain or save your life. It doesn't slow things down anywhere near as much as an extended hospital stay and months of recovery. Great video!

Climbing that ladder in winter ice will be an experience you will remember. We use a safety harness and clip up both going up and down. You only get to slip once from that height without a safety harness.

Now there is a memory you will have forever. The first time Dad and I climbed to the top of the new grain leg. If it ices up this winter with freezing rain or horror frost be very careful underneath it when the sun comes out. Good place to put on a hard hat.

I got scared when you said horror frost. I thought you had some new really bad thing going on. I wonder if you mean hoar frost and just have a family word for it due to the fact that it is a horror to deal with?
@asquithmainlines699
@asquithmainlines699 Жыл бұрын
@@SpaceCadet2569 LOL yes my bad. Back in the days before fiber optics all communications between communities was done by Microwave radio. The frost would cover the dishes at the tops of the towers and cause the signal to fade resulting in outages. There was nothing you could do but wait for it to melt. We had a chunk of ice come off a tower at Green Lake and go right through the roof of the building sitting beside it. So yes it was a real horror to deal with.

You are very brave as is your dad. I don't do height or needles, ever. I like how the calves react to fresh bedding. A fifteen year old cat is a treasure. Bush owls coming into the barn for the winter is usually the end for the barn owls and the cats. You must have no bush owls. Good video.. Pax.

When at the feed lot in Alberta, think our leg was 175 to the top. Our ladder extended out so you didn't have to sit down to get back down. They always seem to break on cold, windy (they sway), wet or snowy winter days. I hated climbing it. Was a young fellow there also who would just bound up the thing. Nice view though, see for miles. 👍👍

We had those legs(elevators) when I still was working. They were about 30 meters high. We had two differend ones. One when you looked on the leg, just like yours. The other one looked straight over the land when you went up. The last one was really sketchy. they had 88 steps. And when you stopped halfway to rest, you did not get up easely. Up in one go was the best.

I used to be afraid of heights when I was younger as well. Then when I started doing frame to finish construction and went from 30 ft in the air to 120 ft plus in the air walking on 2x6 walls. I learned to essentially have tunnel vision so I wouldn’t look beyond where my feet needed to go at each step I got over the fear.

Beauty on the view! When your going up or down on a ladder you should hold the side rails that way your hands never let go of the ladder! When you hold the rungs you have to let go of the ladder. My cousin taught me that, he's a fireman! Now a lieutenant! Everytime I see you go up and down the ladder hanging onto the rungs I cringe ! Because any cow poop on your shoes will make the rungs slippery and your hands could slip. Please Be careful !

@Ithecastic carrying too much weight tools and parts.I never was over weight. Climbing a straight up ladder will put extra force on joints. All your weight is on one leg at a time. We were working on silos between 75 and 125 feet. Climb those every day at least twice a day and it takes a toll. Not to mention freezing Temps and ice.

Ladder rule of thumb----you have 2 arms & 2 legs. There should be 3 of them in contact with the ladder at all times! Also, when going down put a number in you head, say 20. While you count your 20 steps down you're concentrating on counting & you are down before you know it.
