That Super A is purring right along. When that fertilizer gets wet this weekend, that Hastings will jump.

Yes it is amazing how crows can tell the difference between a shotgun and a broomstick at 70 yards! Another great video. Thanks so much for what you do. God Bless!

Great job Joey and Sammy! I will have to get my plowing fix on your channel this year because we are selling our house and building a house on 5 acres we bought and I don't have the time to do any plowing and planting this year! Thank you for your great videos! God Bless!

Hey Greg That’s ok. Congratulations on building it will be exciting. Maybe on that 5 acres you can find you a good Garden spot.

That turned out great. Very interesting to watch the rolling cultivators work, nice closeup camera work. Hope you get the rain you need, with out it being a gulley washer. They are calling for some rain here and snow in the mountains. Then maybe 80 by next weekend. Thinking about planting spuds here before too long. Maybe corrn by the middle of the month. All depends on what the weather man has to say. Not showing any frost for the next ten days. Have an enjoyable weekend. Looking forward to your next video.

I finally got my rolling cultivators perfected and they are working awesome. I had previously made up my rows with the opposing disk blades on my 140 about a week ago. I went back today and made a side dress application of 10-10-10 right of center while freshening up the row with the spider tines. My collards and cabbage are looking great. Sweet corn is up and I planted a row of pole beans and beets today. I have a BCS 853 walk behind with several attachments but most of the work has been accomplished with the tractor thus far. Going to get my 1950 Cub out sometime this coming week just to get it running and cleaned up. Not been used in about 6-7 years. Been stored in the back of our farm shop.

My dad probably wore out more rolling cultivators than most people have ever scene plowing tobacco. He farmed for 62 years. He went from two row Pittsburg rolling cultivators when they became popular back in the 60's to 8 row KMC and Lilliston's. He died back in June of 2023 at the age of 82 and carried that vast amount of knowledge with him. I gleaned so much over the 60 years I followed in his tracks but I still yearn for more.

Yes indeed he put some ground under those 8 row units. Had a buddy like that.

The drive gear on my 140 is just a tad too big. I always have to tap the chain over the gear. Good to know its not just a problem for me. My wedge bolts want to thank you again for the "hammer the tool bar" trick.
@Jtwes

I definitely didn’t have that problem till the Super A. It’s not that bad.

I finally got the rolling cultivators set up last week. I had to mount them parallel to the ground. If I tried mounting them at an angle I couldn't back out of the shop without dragging them on the cement floor. Be sure to check your float on the carb for a hole. Could be filling up with gas and not cutting the fuel flow off. If the float is good probably trash in the main jet seat or a bad seat. All of mine are leaking around the cut off valve, I need to replace the o-rings on the stem of the valves. God Bless!

Looks good Joey! A little rain and it'll take off! The fertilizer's probably like everything else we've been gettn' for the last 4 yrs.....they're gonna give you more of the cheapest ingredient to make you think you're gettn' something!

Lilliston Rolling cultivators were cousin Scott's favorite. He taught me quite a bit about how versatile they can be by simply changing the angle a bit or the depth, a bit. From what I know about using the tool It looks to me like you did a fine job for the first time out. You don't want to get too aggressive on those first passes. I guess you can tell I'm a little bit behind on watching your videos. But just like you'll get things fixed, I'll get caught up. Please tell the young man. I really enjoy his camera work. He does a fine job with that. 🙂🙏🙂

Watching again and catching up. I noticed on the 140 that I bought that I had to break the chain to put it on. There wasn't enough gap to slip it over the gear. No problem on the Super A, lots of room. Been home a few weeks and catching up on Dr appointments. Health issues with my parents and wife's parents now so no time for YT lately. Wanted to post video on rolling cultivator incident, but no time to edit video right now. God Bless

With the chain running off the sprocket at the final drive… how do you stop the fertilizer hopper from dropping fertilizer while you turn around and get lined up on the next row??
@Jtwes
@Jtwes 7 ай бұрын
Good question Dave. There’s a rod that hooks to your front cultivator rock shaft that when you raise up your cultivator it knocks it out of gear till you let it back down.
