The whole Asia was shook after this movie was released. I still remember how great of an impact it had on education systems all over the world. Finally a movie talking about the mental health awareness, questioning the system and teaching us to live the way we want. I love this movie so much. I rush of nostalgia I got while watching it again with you is something I can't describe

Didn't expect you to react to this, but I'm glad you did. This movie was very popular among college students in my country (The Philippines). I heard it also made an impact in South Korea and other Asian countries back in the early 2010s. And rightfully so. Cause this movie is a masterpiece. Besides the message of following your dreams and challenging the system, I in particular love how it doesn't invalidate the reality of poverty too. Raju is very relatable to many people struggling to make ends meet and being the hope of their family. And higher education is their ticket, for them and their family, out of our harsh environment (something so many of us face). Underneath the wackiness, the message cuts deep - especially in Asian societies (South Asian, East Asian, and Southeast Asian, at least) as honor-shame culture are prevalent while being pressured to provide a better life for your family. But it 's great that 3 idiots is even more universal with its message of empathy and challenging societal norms and the system.

@@Youalrightboi I think it depends on how you look at it. Maybe they showed him without a moustache to tell the audience that he was a more humble man now. Because the shaved moustache represented his defeat, and given he had been a very competitive man in the beginning of the movie, there was no way he would have kept his moustache shaved unless he changed as a person. After he learns the truth about his son, we see a sign of his changed personality when he looks at Mona's baby and says " Want to be a footballer? Be whatever you want to be." So showing him that he kept his moustache shaved afterwards shows that he accepted defeat as a part of life, and understood that there was more to life than just winning.

Ah, I remember how wonderful it was to experience "RRR" with you- you have such an open and soothing presence. And you express your emotions so beautifully. This movie absolutely broke me, and then put me back together (and then repeated and repeated and repeated 🤣) I grew up in the US with parents who were from first-generation immigrants and VERY strict about education, and I spent over 10 yrs teaching ESL abroad in countries where kids take exams at 15 or 16 to even PLACE on a register for university, and if they don't get a good score, they are immediately shut out of the top-tier institutions for the rest of their life. The pressure is just insane. After the pandemic, I've been working on doing what *I* want to do to enrich my world, and this movie pushes me in all the right directions. Loved re-watching it with you!

Shahrukh Khan is kind of the Tom Cruise of movies in that he's in a lot and is super popular and a massive name, but Aamir Khan takes on very few projects in comparison but only movies that mean a lot to him and have an important message so he's also a very well known name and people will anticipate his movies a lot.
