Actually, bugs can fall that high. Even squirels can. It's about terminal velocity and momentum. An ant is light, it would need to go really fast to have enough momentum to cause a deadly impact. That's not the point. The size of a mouse and of a goat; their metabolism, their body...is hugelly different. When doing experiments, scientist always start with mice or similar small rodents; not only because they are cheaper; but also because their metabolism is so fast the effects of drugs, radiation or any other side-effect affects them much more and mcuh earlier than to other bigger mamals... testing in say, cocroaches or lizards; usually is useless; as they are so different to us that any experiment done on them is rarelly indicative of how the same product would affect on humans. Once you have sucsessfully completed the experiments on mice and only then, you start doing the experiments bigger animals (after all, your endgame is human application, rigth?) such as rabbits, goats, pigs or even monkeys... wathever animal is closer to humans both in size, inmune sistem or any other parameters important to the test. An example: I want to test a drug to cure headaches: let say ibuprofen. If you give that drug to a mouse, it wil die due to internal bleeding. Their metabolism is so fast, a common blood thiner like ibuprofen gets their blood pumping so fast, their veins brake...it is literally poison for them. You test the exact same drug it in rabbit: it's blood preasure elevates, but as their boddy is bigger and the veins are stronger, it does not get inner bleeding. You feed again the very same drug to a monkey: it does not negativelly affect them. Now you can surelly asume the drug is completelly fine to be tested in humans. So, knowing they have alredy made the step to testing with bigger 'mamals' (if comparing to a mouse) indicates Hope two things: either the Cross particle is almost ready to be tested with humans (bad thing for the good guys) or Cross is ignoring the most basic scientific prtocols to acelerate the procces, jumping to bigger animals when the particle has not been fully tested in smaller ones first (also bad for the good guys)... that's why Hope is shown preocuppied.

The Hulk movie was a one-off. In the sense that they haven't made any more - and probably won't. Sure, Hulk shows up elsewhere. Just not in his own movies. And the Netflix/Hulu series are really on the fringes of the MCU. They reference events from Avengers, but never really interact with the movie side of the MCU.
@DrekeXorn13
@DrekeXorn13 3 жыл бұрын
@@flatebo1 I disagree because she implies a one-off would be a movie that has no connections to other parts of the MCU, which is false for Incredible Hulk for several reasons. One, we later see General Ross again, twice in fact. Two, Agents of Shield mentions Abomination, but perhaps you don't consider AoS canon, which is fine. Three, Bruce learning how to control the Hulk at the end of that movie resulted in one of the best lines and scenes in the first Avengers movie. Four, the upcoming She-Hulk Disney+ series will once again bring back Tim Roth as Abomination. Five, the serum given to Tim Roth's character was an attempt at recreating Captain America's super soldier serum. Six, Bruce mentions breaking Harlem in the Avengers film, referencing the events of the movie. Last one I can think of off the top of my head is Tony Stark literally walking in and meeting with Ross in the end credit scene
@flatebo1
@flatebo1 3 жыл бұрын
@@DrekeXorn13 Depends on how you interpret the phrase "one-off". I take it to mean a movie with no sequels. A "One of One", if you will. Like the plan is to introduce a character in their own movie, then perhaps have them show up in other films, but not be the headliner. Guest-starring. But since the character has already had their own origin movie, the audience knows who they are and what they can do without needing to shoehorn that character's origin into the film. And yes, elements of the Hulk movie were referenced elsewhere. At the same time, the fact that Bruce is being actively hunted by Ross is pretty much just ignored. They set up an origin for The Leader - also ignored thus far. They introduced Doc Sampson - ignored. Jim Wilson - ignored. Because they're Hulk supporting characters/enemies which Marvel probably doesn't have the rights to. All of which makes Hulk a bit like Venom and Morbius. Both those characters are tied to Spider-Man, but not the MCU. You might also consider Inhumans a bit on the one-off side since they pretty much disappeared without a trace after the spectacular failure of that series.

The black guy whose car Paul Rudd landed on, was Garrett Morris. He played Ant-Man on a SNL episode.

7:31 -- the old man in the car was Garrett Morris. He was one of the original members of Saturday Night Live. A skit he did back in the day was of Ant-Man, so that was a little meta joke. I think Edgar Wright's plan was for this to be a one-and-done movie, but... he and Marvel Studios had issues (to say the least), so Peyton Reed took over.

I mean, that's not really why... it helps, but the actual reason has to do with mass vs surface area and terminal velocity. They're so small that the max speed they can reach from falling isn't fast enough to hurt them when they land because the impact force is too small.

Still one of my favorite MCU films. Paul Rudd is obviously just a treasure, the humour all lands (put Michael Pena in more movies), and it also has more heart than most movies. I also love that it avoids the trope of "new husband/bf is absurdly unacceptable", he's a police officer, and seems to be a pretty good one, but eventually turns the corner on Scott when he sees the evidence.

7:41 Ants would survive that type of fall actually. It has to do with gravity vs wind resistance, bugs weight so little that the force gravity makes on them is less than the wind resistance, thus they never get enough speed while falling to hurt themselves.
