I think Victor might be a little confused on the nature of the series. The animated show was the original media. There are some comic books but they take place after the original show. The show is not based on any books like Harry Potter or even comic books like The Walking Dead.

I've taken to Sokka a lot quicker in the live action than in the cartoon. His depiction in the cartoon seemed to favor buffoonery in the way he acted and was treated by others. Here, he has plenty of awkwardness and just the right amount of snark to still come off as humorous, but not stupid.

Sokka is not so sexist but he is more macho - trying to be a tough guy because he thinks that is what a man is supposed to be. I think they decided that they wanted to make him take the journey from being a tough guy to learning that is not what makes a man and if they had left the sexism too, it would have been too much. Katara was started weaker with less ability and that makes her a less impressive character at the start but makes her growth more meaningful.

hey guys! I would like suggest you to stop watching the live action series until you reach the 2nd episode of book 2 in the animated series, because in the live action they mixed in some story from later episodes and book 2 episodes which could be spoiler to you regarding the animated show.
