Evie, I have to say the look on your face as Frank pulls off caper after CAper is PRICELESS. ------ You can't wrap your brain around how Frank can become a pilot if he has to fly a plane. ------- Then he has to go to medical school in order to be a doctor. Hey EVie, I think we all have to understand that the family dynamic in the Abignale household was driven from the parent's growing up with a lack of money. ------- The mother came from war-torn France were they didn't even know the name to baking products like, "Sara Lee". -------- The father only got to travel and build his business and his family from being in the WW2. He was living the male fairtale life. ------- GReat wife, community respect (ala winning awards).

I, too, was rooting for him when I originally saw this film. Such a rush seeing how he adapted and ran from the law. One of my fav Leo films.

Frank actually did appear on TO TELL THE TRUTH in the 1970's. GSN aired his episode tight about the time the movie came out (always did like the 1970's version of that show). I just love the moments when Carl realizes he's been had.

Actually, it's come out that everything Frank has ever said has been a lie. He's never worked for the FBI in "check fraud", he never worked for the DA's office, never worked as a doctor and even the free flights stuff has been called into question. What he has done is check fraud and conned a lot of people into paying for his stories. Even the Google Talks edited their video and placed a disclaimer saying no one has been able to verify anything he's ever said. It's a fun movie...but not even close to the truth.

Good Reaction though I would have loved to have seen the iconic scene when he walks thru the airport lounge camouflaged by 7 or 8 tall, beautiful stewardesses and the detective's reaction. lol Also,the caption at the end detailing all the money he, legitimately,earns from the banks now:)

I wish more younger reviewers would stop and appreciate the opening titles, even though that has largely gone away. The music of John Williams combined with the artistry of Saul Bass. It's a movie unto itself.

You can find several videos of the real Frank talking about his life and all of the stuff from the movie. When you see photos of him from the time, he really could pass for 30 when he was 17.

It's kind of funny that they picked Leo, partly because he has the boyish looks that you can imagine him as a teen, but the whole point in reality is that Frank did NOT look like a teen.

so sad to see him going to his mom's after being told his dad was dead and she didn't seem to care, she was too caught up with her new family. that's why he wanted in the car instead of her seeing his face when the cops showed up in the front yard

29:32..In the Bonus DVD with interviews with the real Frank, He said he never talked to his mother again--He could never forgive her. Passing the Bar with only 2 weeks prep is almost impossible...Wonder what his I.Q was? I lived your reactions to this great movie (Ironic Frank and Carl were enemies but wound up being freinds!)

Though he obviously pulled many cons to be wanted and arrested by the FBI, the passing the bar story is one of the things that are disputed about Franks story. No one can find any record of him working as a lawyer, even passing the bar, nor of working as a doctor. Frank has admitted to making things up in his book, but doesn't say what parts.

Yep, and it's interesting because he was still a young man then and it's obvious from his stories and how he tells them that he really enjoyed the limelight at the time. If you see any of his more recent speeches as an older man he's obviously repentant and is no longer proud of those days; he's apparently now a devout Christian and tries to convey to younger people that what he did was not something to admire or be proud of.

I didn't even notice this when I watched the 1st half of the film how come no one questions the fact that the flight attendant Like didn't even verify that the kid was an adult because he was like 15 or 17 or something at the time granted she assumed he was an adult because he was a pilot allegedly but she didn't ask for any idea any proof that he was an adult she just assumed because of the uniform that he was.

Hi Evie!🙂Frank's exploits are very accurate. Even the game show at the beginning of the film is a true recreation. Tom Hanks character Handratty was actually a compilation of the agents that chased Frank. For drama purposes they made him a central character to tell the story easier. Nice reactions to the very well made and enjoyable Catch Me if You Can, Evie!!!🎬👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽Oh yes, that was Martin Sheen, Charlie Sheen's father.

another con man movie you should watch is "The Great Pretender" starring Tony Curtis. It's early 60's, and he does a lot of the same things, impersonate people from different professions. Really good movie.

For the record, the movie doesn’t really compare to the original autobiography by Frank himself, the original story is even better without the interpretation for film, but it’s a fun ride regardless.

Advanced technology has closed some doors as far as certain cons and scams--I doubt a lot of things Abignale did then could be done today. However, advanced technology has opened other doors for different, maybe more sophisticated cons and scams.

The greatest con Frank pulled was making Steven Spielberg think his story was true. Pretty much none of it actually happened. Great movie nonetheless.

False. Most of it did happen. Frank ended up working for the FBI following his time in prison. You should look up his true story and see that the movie was actually pretty tame

Most of the stuff is definitevely true. I mean he was arrested by the FBI, so he had to have pulled off a lot of cons. Some of the stuff he wrote in the book has been disputed. He's admitted that he made up some parts, but hasn't said which parts. The most likely ones are the passing the bar and working as a lawyer, and a doctor. They have not been able to find any evidence that he tried for or passed the bar, nor that he ever worked as a doctor. Some like to report these discrepencies as "NONE OF IT HAPPENED". Which again, he wouldn't have been arrested and assist the FBI (confirmed) if he hadn't pulled anything off.
