@@RhetoricalThrill There are rare occasions where a *little* foreknowledge is good (a viewer needs to be in the right mindset to have a chance at appreciating 2001, for example), but the idea that a reactor should do *research* before viewing is very odd to me. Sounds like a recipe for spoilers!
@jasonondik60036 ай бұрын
I also like when reactors don't look up (or have movies spoiled) and see it fresh, but I do like when a reactor looks information about the movie AFTER they watch it, but before they film their outro and add some of that commentary in.
@BrianKoppe6 ай бұрын
@@jasonondik6003 That can definitely be nice, But I think that's really up to the reactor and whether that's their thing or not (not saying you disagree). Some people get really into looking up production background and things like that and other people just want to enjoy the movies for what they are. One of the great things about having a variety of reaction channels is that we get to revisit these films through the eyes of different people, and I think the most important part of that is that reactors bring their authentic selves, whatever that may be.
@jhilal23856 ай бұрын
@@RhetoricalThrill 3 exceptions: 1) going into a movie where the production team strove for accuracy/plausibility and lacking real-world knowledge, such as watching a war movie and not having basic knowledge of ranks or unit levels or naval terminology, or not being able to tell a green uniform from a grey or tan uniform, or watching a poker movie and not knowing the ranking of the 10 poker hands. The reactor spends a lot of time confused. 2) watching part of a series or franchise out of order or skipping movies in the series. Again, a confused reactor is not enjoyable to watch. Certain unnamed reactors do this on purpose to "save time". 3) watching a comedy spoof without first watching the source materiel. The reactors don't get the humor.

For me, it took watching some of those non-reactor reactors to fully appreciate lively reactors. I enjoy watching reactors who go in cold, ask questions, engage with the material, and *gasp* actually react. Is it the same thing as a theater experience? No, but, that's part of what makes it great. The best reactor experience I've ever had was when one of my favorites watched Uncle Buck and the penny dropped on the Federal Express = FedEx connection. I won't say ignore the detractors but, keep in mind they may still be finding their own favorite moments.

I don't remember if I saw a trailer for this movie but if I did it didn't ruin the surprise because I was completely shocked the first time I watched it and had an absolute blast, just like I did during this reaction watching you experience the same thing all these years later. Thanks, that was awesome.

This and TRUE ROMANCE are the best distillations of Tarantino's aesthetic. This is classic Tarantino ADD, where he forgets he's supposed to write a vampire movie, and indulges himself in writing a crime thriller where dirtbags are the nominal heroes, then suddenly remembers it's a vampire movie, and finishes it off as such.

What a fun movie and I am so excited for this reaction. Also, if people hate that you don't do research before watching a movie, then I have to ask how boring are their movie going experiences? Going as blind as possible into a movie is great

I really don’t know. Or they think I’m supposed to learn all about a movie after I finish or something? I have no idea 😂

@@RhetoricalThrillwell.. It's odd I Guess for us people who at least watched trailers. So I kind of knew what I was getting in to.. But the blind reactions are more fun . But if you have that, then the viewer will have to accept some limitations on your part. If you enjoy it? Then do it how you do. I am kind of jealous in that it's so difficult to enjoy a movie in these time completely blind. You're bound to know at least half the movie before it ever starts..

Natural Born Killers is great. Tarantion is/was pissed off about it, because that was the film he intened to do next after Reservoir Dogs, and a director with clout, Oliver Stone, used his powers to get the project for himself. A c*nt move maybe, but it's so great that I forgive.
@alexb.e74986 ай бұрын
...according to Wikipedia : Natural Born Killers was based on a screenplay written by Quentin Tarantino, in which a married couple suddenly decide to go on a killing spree. Tarantino had sold an option for his script to producers Jane Hamsher and Don Murphy for $10,000 after he had tried, and failed, to direct it himself for $500,000. Hamsher and Murphy subsequently sold the screenplay to Warner Bros. Around the same time, Oliver Stone was made aware of the script. "David Veloz, associate producer Richard Rutowski, and Stone rewrote Tarantino's script, keeping much of the dialogue but changing the focus of the film from journalist Wayne Gale to Mickey and Mallory. The script was revised so drastically that Tarantino was credited for the story only. In a 1993 interview, Tarantino stated that he did not hold any animosity towards Stone, and that he wished the film well... though he subsequently disowned the film... saying, "I hated that fucking movie. If you like my stuff, don't watch that movie."

Who the hell wants the reactor to know things about the movie? The least they know the better. I can only think of one example and that’s borat, and that’s because knowing people believe they’re being part of a documentary answers the question “how do they not notice the camera”, and some people may think it’s all fake. Other than that one case I can’t see why people would prefer the reactor to know things about the movie.

Right? Even if it’s just facts about the movie, like what it’s adapted from or info about the production, why should I go lookin that up beforehand? No sense.

Plus.. Look at it this way.. The first half of this film is a Tarantino film that also bookends it, but you squeeze a Rodriguez film in the middle.. lol.. Think of it like chocolate and peanut butter. Also..i can't remember who was being interviewed. But i love they talk about the film and the young actor playing the son.. And how they "ruined real strip clubs for him". Also your reaction to Santanico Pandemonium.. every straight guy, and a fair share of women in 1995-6. Lol

I liked Clooney in this . But he definitely wasn't comfortable in front of a film camera yet. Or maybe its just the editing.. But Clooney is a bit "mugging" for the camera in this flick..i really didn't embrace him as a film actor until a couple years later . You really should do a double feature of Tarantino's "Jackie Brown" and Sorerbergh's "Out of Sight" two fantastic films based on the books by Elmore Leonard.

Yup i had the same WTF moment when it went Van Helsing. The only logical reasoning behind this plot twist in my mind is that Tarantino must have had a bad LSD or coke trip to leave it in. Its sad because it was going so well and it ruined the movie. Preventing it from becoming another classic and to think both legendary directors ok'd this its unconscionable. This movie is a farcical monstrosity and i think its his worst. If you are drunk or stoned then maybe its worth a viewing otherwise avoid like the plague.
