I loved watching Beverly Hills Cop 4! I loved all the throwbacks to the previous movies! It's funny that his son in law was the one that arrested Axel & also his real life daughter driving around in the lego car!
Surprisingly good, the part 3 we should have gotten. All of the cast seemed to be having fun with this one.

Always love your reactions because sarcasm is so much part of my personality too. lol. I agree with everything you said. I had my reservations, but I stayed up tonight watching the movie. Then, because I saw your post, I had to do this reaction to laugh with somebody watching it. As a father whose job demanded being away for months at a time, I know I made mistakes. But my job wasn't who I was..it was what I was. I knew I was giving up time with my daughter..and I hope when she is older will understand that. She is only 19 now, so hopefully she can get past things and reconnect before my health becomes too far gone.
@RhetoricalThrill6 ай бұрын
Train to Busan had a great line about that - basically that they’ll understand when they’re older. I am very grateful that my husband works so hard to support our family, but it does break my heart when he can’t be there as much as he’d like. It’s a tough balance to work out, but if the love is there I think things tend to work out, and I hope you’re able to find that place with your daughter 💜

Also you got a sub, as I started to write, great reaction and you seem like a wonderful movie reactor to keep an eye out for. Thank you. :) Also, I think it's a nice thought from the production (maybe mostly Eddie) to incl. his daughter and the son in law. If I ever got an offer like that, I would never say no to arrest or tase a dad or (dad) in a movie.

@@RhetoricalThrill My thinking was that it was a reference to a child who seeks the protection and paternal guidance/defence from adversity. I.E. lack of bonding/affection (which I suppose falls under the banner of daddy issues,) abusive adolescent romantic/sexual relationships where the father does not take a stand. First time watching anything about it and was not disappointed. Seen others post reviews on it but your ability to enjoy and grasp sarcasm and quick wit is why I decided to watch yours. Everyone agrees how bad 3 was . Eddie even said thats why they quit making them. He wasnt going to do another one until a version came across his desk that had the same spirit and mix of the first 2. Lots of 80's movie guys in that one. Gordon-Levitts role in this one could put him square in the realm of being able to bring action comedies back if he were to find ones that identity politics haven't ruined the scripts for. I could very easily see him doing a Die Hard-esque or Lethal Weapon-esque style movie as the lead.

Pure luck gave us two classic films of the 1980's, Beverly Hills Cop and Ghostbusters. Ghosbusters was originally going to be John Belushi in the Bill Murray role and Eddie Murphy in the Ernie Hudson role. Belushi died from a drug overdose. Stallone passed on Beverly Hills Cop. It was offered to Eddie Murphy with a rewrite. Bill Murray was brought in with Ernie Hudson. The Murray role was expanded and the Murphy role reduced, which Hudson was dissapointed. Most likely Ghostbusters would have been a different hit. Beverly HIlls Cop probably more serious, and safe to say, not the monster hit it turned out to be with Murphy. We also may not get that incredibly awesome soundtrack as well.

Hello hello, miss Thrill. I've yet to watch this movie but I'm wondering if there are any Beverly Hills Cop 3 references. Asking because I haven't seen it and only remember 1 and 2 vividly. If 4 is as good as you say then it might be worth watching 3?
@RhetoricalThrill6 ай бұрын
The only reference to 3 is basically a meta joke about how bad it was, there’s nothing from it that you need to know for this one. It wasn’t terrible to me, but it wasn’t good. Pretty much unnecessary, couldn’t get the tone right, couldn’t decide if it wanted to be gritty and semi-realistic or silly 90s over-the-top. I probably won’t ever watch it again but definitely not the worst thing I’ve seen. Hope that helps! 💜

They were doing a test pilot back in 2013 for a Beverly Hills Cop TV series starring a young man as Axel’s son. Eddie makes an appearance in the pilot and they had great chemistry. I am wondering why he wasn’t the one investigating the cop killing instead of the daughter. I think the movie would have been better since they are so much alike.

I really can't put my finger on this movie. Partially Nostalgia for Nostalgia sake, it's almost satirical in its depiction of police work in the 21st century, along with our obsession with "okay boomer" and generational memes. Everyone treats Axle as if he's been asleep the past 30 years, when he's been present the whole time. Seeing Jeffrey as the scapegoat made me sad, because it's like they wrote Paul Reiser to be older than he really is. That being said, it is enjoyable, and moviegoers who know nothing about Beverly Hills Cop can get up to speed real quick.

The only action scene in the movie that put a mild smile on my face was the scene on the buggy vehicle through Beverly hills before his first arrest, but even that was played too much for laughs and silliness rather than danger excitement and tension.
