Game of Thrones history is heavily based on real life! The first men are the Celts, who ruled most of the British Isles until the arrival of the Anglo-Saxons/Andals from the east. All 7 of the kingdoms have real-life counterparts, such as Dorne/Spain The Reach/France and The North/Scotland. And the Dothraki are based on Turkic and Mongol cultures from central Asia.

I think the repetition is also a way to show you each person/house perspective. The Tyrell perspective exemplifies perfectly the way they fight, not by confronting but by "conforming".

What Ashley said about Daenerys during the Lord of Light bit was astounding. She's got great hunches, she's really good at this :D I also was suspicious of Daenerys quite early on, vs. my ex who thought 'that thing' that happens in S8 was a total curveball 'cause he didn't see her that way at all.

Yeah and especially when they are referring to the age of heroes it is something like 8 thousand years ago in the history of the world. Also they are stories that were passed down through an oral tradition so their accuracy isn’t 100%. Think of those stories kind of like the Iliad or the odyssey where they are more myth than reliable accounting of history. In addition while stories from the age of heroes may reference some historical events they are also stories that were meant to be preformed for an audience so they would likely have changed quite a lot in the hundreds or thousands of years before anyone wrote them down. That’s why many people especially in the south don’t really believe in the white walkers or anything like that because magic hasn’t been a very prominent force in Westeros for a couple hundred years by the time the story takes place. Also because they are primarily referenced in stories that come from this age where you can certainly question the validity of the events said to have taken place. Sorry for a super long comment I do really enjoy your reactions I am hyped for you guys watching season 4!

Oh yeah Ashley, if you start diving into all the wildest theories about the age of heroes and the reality behind myths such as Bran the Builder, you're in for a treat. It goes faaaaaaaar. And wild. ^^ But it's fascinating to dive into it, I got a few KZbin channels (such as David Lightbringer or Crusader Chris) to recommend if you wanna explore that a bit further.

Thanks for sharing the Lore videos, though I agree with Ashley, they can be a LOT of info in a short time. They may be worth breaking into smaller chunks to add to when she does her episode rewatches - as you know the info really does help keep track of the deeper motivations for some things. Keep up the awesome work Stefani and thank you for staying on top of where you are with everything while making sure Lindsay is getting the best experience she can.

Ladies, there are indices at the end of each book. These take the form of dramatists Personè, for each of the major families, their relations, their allies, and their servants. The show has some fantastic scenes. The show has some fantastic acting and dramatic points. But the books are better. And yet you don’t even have to read the books to use the information pertaining to each family and major organization at the end of the books.
