We watch part of their origin story from when they were on the television show Sing Off. This is their second performance.

The Sing-Off only lasted 5 years and a whole bunch of good acapella groups came out of it and got boosted in recognition including Pentatonix, VoicePlay, etc. Adam's brother Chris was in the Sing-off with them, but Chance who is in Home Free now and took the place of Chris was also in the 2nd season of the Sing-Off and was the bass in the group called Street Corner Symphony, he had long hair then too and their group was pretty good and were the runner up that season. Chance left them to come into Home Free and he was a great fit for the group.

You could tell way back then that they had that something special. Sing Off # 3 is what nabbed it for them. And as you continue you will figure the judges were very team Austin and Tim.

Love seeing these Sing Off shows as I never saw any of them live. What stands out to me is not only how young the guys look but the humility & support they give each other. No divas in this group. And Adam Rupp's talent already was head & shoulders above a lot of the other beatboxers at that time. Hard to believe he is even better now.

I discovered Home Free through these Sing Off videos while recovering from torn rotator cuff surgery in Feb/March 2016 and have been following them ever since. My husband and I have four sons. Home Free: Tim born in 1981, Adam Rupp born in 1982, Adam Chance & Rob born in 1983, Austin born in 1986. My sons: #1 born in 1981, #2 born in 1982, #3 born in 1983 and #4 born in 1986. So I could be the Momma of the entire group! 😳🤣🤣🤣

Austin could be my son I think that’s why I love him so much he was born a year before my eldest child and two before my youngest my eldest was born 1987 my youngest was born 1988😱

I love the song-off videos. I’ve only been a Home Fry for a little over a year, I think I’ve listened to all their songs at least 4 or 5 times! I probably have a hundred favorites!

Great reaction. We fell in love with these guys on the very first Sing Off show with them on it.. glad to be able to join you on your journey and "rediscover' Home Free again! Not sure if you have the recording of their Sing Off Battle with the Filharmonic? They "battled" with "Im Alright" from the movie CaddyShack.. That one is so much fun! Try not to miss that one! You can't help but like these guys. Beside how incredibly good they are, they are down to earth, completely comfortable to make fun of themselves and each other that you wish to just hang out with them. Rob and Tim are the pranksters in the group, Rob is the one who usually cracks the first when something funny happens and Tim has a deadly on point sense of humor and never misses a chance.

Love hearing your views and authentic reactions to Home Free. I first discovered them less than a year after the Sing-Off had aired and they were still children of their traits. It's been an honour to see them mature, evolve and grow their talents and step into who they truly are more and more, as individual human beings and as a band. I love going back to enjoy this phase on their journey from time to time together with reactors, especially when they are fairly new to them. Oh, and you really should react to one or two of their funny videos, because these guys can make you laugh and they constantly do. They don't even call their concerts concerts. They used to call them shows, because they are true entertainers, but now they call it a party. And it really is a party. Each time is different even though the setlist might be the same. It's just one more reason why we love them. The Butts Medley, also known as the Butts Remix, is a good oldie while Working for a Living is a new one. 😁 Thanks for the reaction! 🥰🙏

That’s a good way to describe Tim’s notes…a shock wave. Yeah some kind of deep note - I don’t know how to describe it either. Liked this song. It was fun and Austin killed it. Don’t worry Rob kills it in so many other songs. They’re all good and it’s fun to see them switch singers. They don’t do it as much during this contest but in their videos they switch singers a lot. Good reaction MI.
