The big bad in this movie is called a spinosaurus, and it is technically to this day the largest carnivorous dinosaur to ever live. They are also thought to be mostly pescatarian, meaning a well fed one probably wouldn’t have even attempted to go for humans. They lived in what is now northern Africa, and probably fed on species of giant sawfish and coelacanths, although they were probably capable of taking down a full grown herbivore if they were hungry enough. Spinosaurus is infamous for having at least one new thing discovered about it every year, so who knows what else about our information on this creature will change.

Fun fact: the bird cage with the Pteranodons was originally in the first Jurassic Park novel, but they didn't have the time or budget to include it in the first film. Side note: while pterosaurs were physically incapable of picking up prey with their feet(which were eerily similar to human feet), Pteranodon and the giant Quetzalcoatlus(which was as tall as a giraffe when standing on the ground)could easily impale you with their sharp beaks.

The original script was going to involve teenagers crashing on the island, Isla Sorna, while their parents were on another plane, going to the Galapagos Islands. The teens then encounter a strange hermit, who turns out to be none other than Alan Grant, having snuck onto the island to study the dinosaurs in their natural habitat. Joe Johnston, the director, threw away the script and called it "a bad episode of Friends and that none of the characters are interesting." Filming had begun with a finished script The scene where the Rex fights the Spinosaurus had to involve CGI after the Spinosaurus animatronic had torn the head off the Rex animatronic, which shocked everyone onset, including Stan Winston. They rebuilt the animatronic for some test shots. The film was a box office success, $370 million dollars against a $93 million dollar budget.

Jurassic Park 3 is basically a mashup of all the scenes from the first and second book which didn't make it into the first two movies. The aviary and t-rex/spino in the river are almost exactty from the first, the whole boy hiding in the wrackage and egg stealing is kind of from the second.

The Spinosaurus has gone through many, MANY, iterations ever since its discovery, consisting of the lower jaw and parts of the spine that made up the sail(hence the name), but that specimen was sadly destroyed during the Berlin bombing in WW2. So, the design they went for in the film was based on speculation at the time, using other closely related species for reference. However, we do know now that was drastically different that previously thought. It turns out it had a rooster-like crest on its head, the neck was slightly longer and pelican-like, the sail had a sort of soft M-shape to it, and the tail was flat and paddle-like, in addition to slightly smaller hind legs. It still holds the record of the largest theropod(bipedal carnivore) dinosaur, though Tyrannosaurus would easily snap its neck with their bone-crushing jaws. While Spinosaurus was primarily a semi-aquatic fish-eater, it did occasionally snack on passing pterosaurs and baby dinosaurs.

@@myspiderungoliantExcept a Giraffe is quite a poor comparison because it's not like Spino itself was THAT skinny by comparison when technically, weights fluctuate on Spinosaurus from as low as 6 all the way to 10 tons according to different paleontologists. So it's not really easy to judge anything when Spinosaurus is literally known from very few remains even to this day.

Spinosaurus. From what I heard, there was a deleted scene where Cooper was attacked and injured by a baby Spinosaurus-which he killed... and that was why the big Spinosaurus was so relentless at chasing the humans, because it associated them with the death of it's baby

Everything about Lost World is great right up until San Diego, at least IMO. This one definitely had the potential to be great, but they rushed it. The pacing is off and just wanting to skip to beat after beat instead of taking its time. That's part of the reason the first one is so excellent, a literal hour passes without anything big happening, but it doesn't feel like it, it takes its time and sets things up. This one tries to just be nonstop action and skip over a lot of what extra world building they could have added.

Same here this was my first Jurassic Park film I saw in theaters and even if this wasn’t everyone’s favorite film in the Jurassic Park franchise it did help most of us who were born in the mid-late 1990’s to watch the other films in the franchise before Jurassic World came out 14 years later.
@thechad4485

Definitely the minority. This was basically the “Batman and Robin” of the franchise, as it essentially killed the franchise for nearly 15 years, and even then, the franchise never truly recovered. TLW also had some of the best VFX of the franchise. This movie is the first of the franchise where the VFX took a serious step down, and it kept getting worse, even with better technology.

In addition, it was good to see Sam Neil and Laura Dern as Dr. Alan Grant and Ellie in the film, the former in much larger role and we wouldn’t even see them again until _Jurassic World Dominion_ 21 years later after this film.

The Spinosaurus is honestly the main reason why this film became so divisive among fans of the franchise. They decided to make Spinosaurus the main villain because at the time, it was a very poorly known Dinosaur (the only major specimen that had ever been found of it was accidentally destroyed by a World War II Allied bombing raid). Unfortunately, its portrayal in this film created a huge amount of backlash, especially in the scene where it killed a T-Rex so easily. More research on Spinosaurus since the film came out has shown just how inaccurate the film's portrayal of it was. The TRUE Spinosaurus was a Dinosaur that spent most of its life in the water and primarily hunted fish (it also would have been DEAD after that first bite from T-Rex). The real Spinosaurus has turned out to be so different than what Jurassic Park 3 portrayed it as that the filmmakers have actually had to go back into the lore and completely retcon the Spino's story to make it a Dinosaur whose genetic code was HEAVILY edited and experimented on by InGen. As a result of all this experimentation, and even honestly some torture as well, the InGen Spinosaurus REALLY hated humans, which is where this "murderous intent" that you see in the film comes from.
@noneya3635
@noneya3635 8 ай бұрын
No it’s not. And the word divisive is a bit heavy handed; this didn’t cause a TLJ schism. The fact is this movie just doesn’t have any of the semi sense of the other two. And the effects were becoming yawn inducing at this point in film. The main reason this movie is looked down on is because it’s subpar story telling. Period.

People give the Jurassic World movies loads of crap and I'll agree that they’re not amazing but they’re still super cool and definitely worth a watch. So there is an interesting theory out there that the reason the Spinosaurus went after the humans relentlessly is because in the beginning when Cooper was scouting he came across a Spinosaur nest. The blood running down his arm is assumed that the infant attacked him because if it was the adult it would have lacerated and killed him. So he killed the juvenile and that’s what prompted the spinosaurus to go on a rampage and try to kill them. It honestly makes the most sense

I love this movie but one thing I never understood was why they didn't have Sam and Ellie be married. They could've easily made it where Sam and Ellie were having financial troubles with the lack of funding for digs and home life. It would have also brought more of a empathetic resonance between the Kirby's and Dr. Grant because he would've understood why they did what they did while Billy would have been the one that showed less compassion. Making Billy's arc to save Eric all the more powerful.

That Spinosaurus may be relentless, but its Kryptonite is the flimsy sheet metal door meant for humans. These people should just carry a flimsy sheet metal door around to defend against it.

The new Dino with the sail would be called a Spinosaurus, the longes theropod ever discovered. This movie doesn’t portray it accurately, but their model is pretty cool. As for the Pteranodons (which is what they actually are) there is a whole story with them after they get off the island. Great video, I would love to see you do Jurassic World.

Angelina, before Jurassic Park was a thing, there was a sci fi show on Nbc called Earth 2 , about people living on a spacestation and they were going to go explore / colonize an alien planet somewhere because earth was too polluted, but something went wrong...

Joe Johnston fun facts! He was one of the first members of the original pioneering ILM crew that created the special effects for the original Star Wars trilogy. He was the art designer for the Millennium Falcon, X-Wing Fighter Yoda, Boba Fett and many more. He was also the designer for the Iron Giant and Directed "Honey I Shrunk The Kids", "Jumanji", and "Capt. America: First Avenger"

I'm late ok but it's a spinosarus also it's genetically modified so it's unique compared to regular spinos and the reason why it's so set on killing the humans is bc at the beginning the mercenary group kooper cash and udeski where attacked by a baby spino which wounded kooper hence his bloodied arm and kooper killed the baby spino that's why the main spinosarus is after the humans also it's very territorial and aggressive

Just so you know, at 10:18 in your video here, they explain what the sail-backed predatory dinosaur is (in case the viewer of the movie didn't already know). Spinosaurus.

The script of this one was completely rewritten just a few days before filming. The sets were built, the cast were hired, everything was ready for a completely different film, and they had to work everything they had into a new story.

Random trivia here: they didn't give it a special name because it is not based technically on a book (though it pulls parts from both). The second one is the actual title to the sequel.

Spinosaurus (was said earlier in the film). The running theory is the spino got pissed at the group from running into it (the blood on the plane window was from the spino, not Cooper). Given that crows and tigers are documented to be able to hold grudges, the same can be assumed for the Spino.

8:00 That blood is probably from the Spinosaurus, because the plane clips it. And that's most likely why the Spinosaurus is so pissed

Watch the Jurassic World trilogy. They’re fun movies, don’t let the haters tell you otherwise. I don’t think any of the sequels can live up to the first Jurassic Park, but I think all of them are lots of fun. If you liked this one, you’ll like the World movies.

Well the reason why the spinosaurus was chasing them it's because more I heard that people said that the spinosaurus was chasing them because of her Finn being broken or because I heard there was a cut scene there were a Spinosaurus babies in the movie but was killed by one of the people but who knows I don't know

I also kinda like the Kirbys. They are the only real everypeople characters to play such a major role. They have No Special knowledge, are No experts on anything, No badasses or even rich or in any way glamorous. Yes, they didn't really know what they were doing but they weren't really any more incompetent than normal people in their position would be. I wouldn't agree that they were especially selfish or obnoxious either. They were just Desperate Patents risking everything to save their Kid after having been let down badly by the authorities. And yes, in their desperation they Lied to Grant but they actually DID what was within their very Limited means to prepare as Well as possible for the Trip. It wasn't anywhere near enough but of course it also wasn't with InGen who had resources the Kirbys couldn't imagine in their wildest dreams. Yes, those mercenary types got killed but they were Professionals who knew what they we're getting into and we're overconfident that they would be able to handle everything because they were so badass. It's Not Like anyone tricked THEM into going, they knowingly did it for the money and quite possibly even a bit for the thrill. If anything they kinda duped Mr. Kirby somewhat, they totally knew how completely in over his head (and desperate) he was and let him believe THEY were perfectly capable of dealing with any eventuality.

I actually really love this film for one reason. The raptors. The Utah Raptor, (Actual name). was HIGHLY INTELLIGENT, and basically the human being, of the three eras that dinosaurs existed for. I love this film, because they actually acknowledged not only their intellect, but also how they functioned as a pack society in this film. If you're interested in learning more about the culture of raptors, there's a action, adventure, romance novel out there called, "Raptor Red". It's from the point of view of a female Utah Raptor who's just lost her mate, and goes off on a journey with her sister and her chicks, to find new love while crossing the land bridges in Asia. ❤The author poured all the knowledge that currently existed at the time, of all dinosaurs world wide, into the novel to make it more authentic. ❤❤❤

20:07 Yes, the Ceratosaurus got spooked due to the smell. Not because it reeked, but because the poop was dropped by a larger carnivore(in this case the Spinosaurus), so it thought it would be best to find food elsewhere.
