Funny story: Burke, the one who runs away from the milk snake, was based on a real life paleontologist, Dr. Robert Bakker. He and another paleontologist, Jack Horner, were in a debate over how T. rex ate and whether it was warm-blooded. Bakker argued that T. rex was a hunter, while Horner argued it was more of a scavenger, like vultures. Bakker realized that he was being spoofed, and loved it. Funniest part about this movie is nearly every terrible thing that happened was because of what Nick and Sarah did. Them trying to sabotage the other group over and over is what started the dominos falling to cost so many people their lives. They let out the dinosaurs that destroyed the groups camp and all of their valuable equipment and resources. They bought the baby T rex back with them which got all of their equipment and resources destroyed and their friend killed. Sarah kept the bloody clothes on that allowed the T rex to follow them and kill many people. Nick took Roland's ammo out of his gun so he couldn't shoot the T rex to save lives and kill it. Because Roland couldn't kill the T rex he ended up tranquilizing it, so it was captured instead and got to kill lots of people in California. The second T rex attack brought on by Sarah's bloody clothes also caused people to split up and run into raptor territory getting nearly all of them killed and eaten.

It was Hammond who sent a team to dangerous territory and it was Ludlow who sent the other team to capture and hunt the dinosaurs. They started it all. An extended cut of this movie can be found on Sci Fi and TNT, with 2 deleted scenes: Peter Ludlow, John Hammond's nephew, has Hammond fired from INGEN after the Isla Nublar Incident of 1993, because they rather have him removed as head of the company then spend prison time for criminal and safety negligence. Roland Tembo's original introduction was going to have him meet up with an old friend of his, Ajay Sindhu, and asks Roland if he's interested in going to Costa Rica for a well fundes expedition, until ge witnesses a rude tourist harassing the locals. Roland beats the man to a pulp to teach him a lesson. Ajay stills asks Roland about the expedition, Roland says "Ajay, go up to my ranch, take a look around the trophy room and you tell me what kind of quarry you think could possibly be any interest to me?"

spielberg is all about pacing. pacing is his top priority when editing a film...unless it is a historical drama. He doesn't want the audience to feel a movie is dragging and thus tries to make movies fast paced...That's why JP and TLW are just over 2 hrs when they probably reached closer to 3 hrs with deleted scenes.
@system0fadowner2515 ай бұрын
@scottb3034 its a shame tho cause I think the deleted scenes for TLW actually improve the plot and character motivations quite a bit.
@Wolfspane11 ай бұрын
Fun Fact, there was originally a scene that showed that Peter Ludlow was actually the one that broke the baby T.Rex's leg, not Roland or Arjay. It was to make it poetic when the Male Rex breaks Peter's leg at the end of the movie. Unfortunately, there will never be a director's or extended cut of this film or of Jurassic Park due to a fire at Universal Studios that destroyed the uncut footage.
@LightMindedJedi11 ай бұрын
It...could potentially be made with CGI.....but would not look as good as the footage would have had it not been destroyed in the fire.
@scottb303411 ай бұрын
that's not the reason why there will never be a director's or extended cut since we don't know precisely what was destroyed in the Universal archives. The reason we never will are two-fold. Spielberg doesn't think highly of this picture (even fighting depression over it during production because he found it shallow). But more importantly Spielberg himself feels that the theatrical cut is his director's cut. He particularly despises deleted scenes which is why most of his films don't have them...(only included the two for TLW because they were in the TV screenings). The reason for his hatred? He was roasted heavily by fans for fiddling with Close Encounters and ET and vowed to never do it again. While Spielberg lives and breathes we won't get any scenes for JP or TLW and TLW is not popular enough to warrant a future release with them.

@tehdipstick11 ай бұрын
I'm guessing it's the caffeine maybe making her unfocused, but Angelina missed a lot of stuff in this reaction. The movie immediately makes it clear that Isla Sorna is a different island from Isla Nublar, she missed that. Hammond explains that Malcom's team is supposed to go to the island to document the dinosaurs so he can establish a nature preserve and make it inaccessible to the public... she missed that and thinks they're there to sabotage Ludlow's crew. Ludlow explicitly mentions that the female rex is still roaming free on the island, meaning that the one they caught is the male, and she missed that. I'm a big fan, but this was a rough one.

I find it funny that there are several moments and elements in this movie that weren't in the Lost World book, but they were in the Jurassic Park book and they were left out of that movie only to be put in this one. Hell even the character of Roland Tembow (the lead game hunter guy) was completely invented for this movie almost to make up for how dirty they did Muldoon in the previous movie, because book Muldoon was an absolute badass. Really Nick was the biggest problem in the movie. He brought the baby T-Rex back which made them come and attack the trailer, he let all the animals loose which made them lose all their equipment to be able to call out and then he also took the bullets from Roland's gun which rather than rolling killing the T-Rex, he just put it to sleep which ended up allowing engine to bring it and the baby to San Diego. So in actuality the biggest villain in this movie IS Nick.😂 He's the mastermind that put everything in motion to damn near get everybody killed. Lol

I think this movie is very underrated, Steven’s direction and John’s music go hand in hand and it’s also very different from the first. I think having that jungle safari theme in the movie reflects what happens in real life with animal poaching. Malcolm is different from the first movie, he’s not a snarky, charming and charismatic, he’s the polar opposite of that. He’s serious and he looks like he hasn’t slept in a long time. I think this movie is a perfect character arc for Malcom, as he is put back in this world that almost killed him and now threatens his daughter and girlfriend. This movie deserves more praise and I think this is goldblums best work aside from the fly.

bit of background they don't mention in the films but it was in the lore and books i think: after the tragic and unfortunate events of the first film, the plans to build Jurassic Park on Isla Nublar were cancelled (due ot the death of several people including the ones we saw die, but there were others off screen as well). The island was evacuated and subject to saturated bombing thta would kill off the dinosaurs...now Isla Nublar lies abandoned. the company responsible for Jurassic Park, Ingen, were sued for the deaths and lost a lot of money and this is why John Hammond was forced to hand over control to his nephew Peter Ludlow. This is where the second film begins....

Most dinosaur ancestors are actually birds, based off of what we know nowadays. They started to realize since the time when these movies came out until now, that many dinosaurs would've been covered in feathers instead of what we see in these movies where dinosaurs mainly have reptilian-like skin or scales. Velociraptor is one example of a dinosaur that was either partially covered in feathers or fully covered in feathers.

Fun Fact: For the second Novel Michael Crichton had to resurrect Ian Malcolm, because in the Novel the Character was killed in the first Book. In the Second Book he just was there again. Like Kenny in South Park. xD

Great movie, my personal favorite out of the franchise. I would love to see a reaction for Jurassic Park III. Also, the Rex that was on the main land was a male, not a female. 🦖

Best line in the movie... “Oh, yeah. Oooh, ahhh, that's how it always starts. Then later there's running and..... screaming.”

Birds are what's left of the dinosaurs from the their extinction, so the girl isn't wrong. Sharp eyes for detail but not from danger lol

10:34 Funnily enough, Peter Stormare has actually played Lucifer in a movie (IIRC it was Constantine with Keanu Reeves)

The dark tone of the movie is really creepy and interesting. That ominous intro. The grisly deaths. My favorite part is right before the raptors attack Malcolm’s group. It’s super quiet. Nobody is screaming anymore. You hear nothing.

Truly Eddy (guy who died first) was a champ. Even when both T-Rexs were tearing up the jeep, he was still holding down the gas as he cowered to keep the trailer from falling till the end.

The beginning of the first book or second one?

Jeff Goldblum preceded this with the sci-fi action spectacle Independence Day. Just like with its predecessor, this was adapted from the novel of the same name, though changes were made to both

The little girl in the beginning didnt die. When Goldblum is talking with Hammond ,before going the island, Hammond mentions an incident with a little girl. Then goes on to say she was fine

Kinda funny she asks for Devil horns on Peter Stormare's character given he literally plays Lucifer in Constantine.

The irony of adding devil horn's to Peter Stormare's closeup when he's behind one of the the best versions of Satan in movies in Constantine.

Yes, definitely check out all the Jurassic Park movies, part three I do warn you everybody says it’s the worst of all of the movies ever made, but in reality, it’s not that bad the way you act about watching a movie I think you’ll like it too. The interesting thing about part three is you’ll never guess I can’t give too much of a clue to you. You’re just gonna have to be surprised because if I give you a hint, you’re gonna figure it out instantly just letting you know when you see it you’re gonna get really excited because it’s something you wanted.
